I don't think anyone cares unless you went to school with the one in the red dress.

Did you know that Alabama is called the Yellowhammer State? It's also known as the Heart of Dixie.

"Alabama" means "tribal town" in the language of the local Creek Indians!

http://www.allstates-flag.com/images...te/alabama.gif

Did you know that the Alabama state flag, a crimson St. Andrew's cross on a white field, patterned after the Confederate battle flag, was adopted in 1895? The bars forming the cross must not be less than six inches broad and must extend diagonally across the flag from side to side.

Did you know that the Alabama state butterfly is the eastern tiger swallowtail? The state freshwater fish is the largemouthed bass, but the state's saltwater fish is the fighting tarpon!

Did you know that the American Folk Dance of Alabama is the square dance, or that the pecan is the official nut of Alabama?

sugar and spice 01-27-2006 02:18 AM

With a population of over 4,447,100, Alabama is the 23th most populous state in the union!

Throw in a box of Franzia and I might accept.

valkyrie 01-27-2006 02:29 AM

Did you know that if the nights get cold, you can snuggle up in a Pine Burr Quilt, which is the official quilt of Alabama?

shinerbock 01-27-2006 02:34 AM

Alabama's constitution is the longest constitution in the world.

ilikehazing 01-27-2006 02:37 AM

I'm pretty sure all of the girls in that picture are disgusting looking.

valkyrie 01-27-2006 02:39 AM

While reading that constitution, you might want to take a sip of the state spirit, Conecuh Ridge Alabama Fine Whiskey.

shinerbock 01-27-2006 02:58 AM

Alabama, home of Lake Martin, one of the finest Stripe lakes in the world. Also, home to the country's largest NASCAR track. Give em' hell, Dale.

BobbyTheDon 01-27-2006 03:02 AM

Alright. Alabama was cool. Can we talk about another Southern state now?

How about Mississippi? Ole Miss is my favorite SEC school. :)

what is wrong with all of these people on here? Its like i've been sucked into some unwordly sub-culture

PiKA2001 01-27-2006 03:11 AM

Sugarloaf Mississippi.......My homeland. I long for those hot ass humid Mississippi summer nights at my family's farm. The closest neighbor was a miles away and it was a 20 minute drive into town.

shinerbock 01-27-2006 03:11 AM

NASCAR- great sport. Million dollar cars driving on some of the most intense tracks in the world, by the world's greatest auto drivers. Its pretty entertaining for guys, but if not, maybe you can catch a figure skating show.

Mississippi is a good state, lets discuss.

Yes. Lets talk about Mississippi.

I stayed in Olive Branch, Mississippi. I'm pretty sure that the misquitos there are racist. Either that or they only seemed to want to bite me because they thought I taste like soy sauce or kung pao chicken

:(

Ocean Springs, Mississippi got blasted by Katrina though :(

Biloxi has some casinos. Not bad aye?

PiKA2001 01-27-2006 03:19 AM

Did anybody ever see the movie "Mississippi Burning"?

Hey dude. It was in Olive Branch where one of your bros screamed out " Come to DETROIT and say that Motherbleeper!!!!!"

I forgot his name. I think it was Austin or something like that.

PiKA2001 01-27-2006 03:25 AM

I'm alum now, but i'm pretty sure we don't have any Austin's in my chapter right now. It could have been someone from Iota Iota or Beta Tau.

NASCAR irriates me. When we're paying $2.50 a gallon for gas and they're using it to run a car 500 miles around a little track. If there's 10 cars in that race, that's 5,000 miles which is a lot of dang gas...plus all they use for practice. And I know, I've heard the argument "But they use a different kind of gas". I'm sure it's still made from an oil base, otherwise we would start using whatever they do as an alternative fuel source.

HAHA!

My friend once dated a guy that drove racecars. We used to tease her that it took him forever to get anywhere cause he only knew how to make left turns

kk_bama 01-27-2006 11:05 AM

You guys make me miss Alabama even more. :(

InHocYall 01-27-2006 11:37 AM

NASCAR

Quit the NASCAR bashing. It is enjoyable because it is the only racing sport that relies solely on driver skill. The engines in the cars have such rigid restrictions on them that a driver can't get by simply having a better car. If you haven't watched a race from flag to flag you shouldn't be slamming it.

It must be my ADD, but I flip it on and watch about 2 laps and get bored out of my mind.
