Tonight was the first time I watched it this season and I about turned it off right away when the first girl destroyed one of my favorite Kelly Clarkson songs. I was not impressed at all with this group.
|
Dude... that was awful. My co-worker told me to give her a review of tonight because she's gonna miss it. I'm going to tell her I'm glad she did.
Lisa hun... singing an Idol song on Idol just makes the whole world seem odd. I hope she finally goes home. |
Predictions for who is leaving tonight?
I say Lisa. Or at least I hope so! |

Lisa will probably get the boot tonight. She should anyway.
Nobody really impressed me last night. I love Chris, but I wish he had picked a song that required screaming throughout. Since Elliott is sort of our "local" boy, they played a clip of him on the radio station I was listening to this morning, and I thought he sounded pretty good... a stark contrast to what I thought of him when I watched him last night. I really think his jacked-up teeth will ultimately hurt him in this competition. |
I will be heartbroken if Katherine leaves tonight.
ETA: Well, she's safe, but she's got to pull her act together for next week. My bets for next to go: Bucky or Ace. |
How the hell was Katharine in the botton 3 and Bucky wasn't? Either I have bad hearing or he's got a serious fan club.

I believe this season is completely rigged. 19E is making the decisions, not "America."
|
I've bought into the conspiracy theory regarding 19E for almost 2 seasons.
|
In Lisa'a defense, I am amazed at how composed she was last night. It is hard to believe she is only 16.
And about Elliot's "jacked-up teeth" - have you met Bucky? :) |

And I'm riding the "19E-controls-the-outcome-of-the-show" train. |

I can't stand to watch Elliott, but I really love his voice (granted I didn't watch on Tues). If I have to watch Taylor have spasms on the show again, then I think I will scream. At first it was cute - now it annoys the heck out of me. I really wouldn't mind it if he left. I am all about Mandisa & Chris still. |
Unfortunately next week is "country" week....let's give Kellie and Bucky a chance to shine (can't they just go already?!)... how is Chris going to work rock music into this genre?
|
So last week Simon complimented Chris and said that he just "refused to compromise" when he turned "Walk the Line" into a rock song. This week Simon criticized Chris and said that at some point he would just HAVE to show another side to him. Whatever.
Also, who thought of having the loser sing when they are kicked off? It is so stupid. First of all, usually they are crying and can't sing. Secondly, if they sang that particular song well, they wouldn't have been voted off! I mean last night when Lisa reprised "Because of You" it was painful. We didn't like it the first time, so why make us endure it again? |
|
Did anyone else know Lisa has already had a pretty impressive musical resume, including being in the musical production of the Lion King and recording a few CDs?
|
I can't believe that it was Lisa -- I think it should have been Kelli or Buckey. I think they are talented but I feel like Nashville star would be a better show for them. speaking of does anyone watch?
|
Kellie and Bucky need to go.. and I hope this week they do.
I think I probably wouldn't mind her as much if she wasn't putting on such a fake act. Trying to play stupid to get votes. Selling an image thats all, but at least have it be your own. |
oh yes.. and ace is just plain creepy.. get rid of him too..

I think he'd be more likely to sing some kick ass Toby Keith. |
If Elliott sings Garth Brooks' Shameless and pulls it off, I will dial in for him until my fingers fall off. I love, love, love that song and he definitely has the voice for it.

And for those of you that just joined the "I think 19 Evil picks the winner" train... welcome aboard. The producers have their "winner" picked from the auditions. It's a matter of airtime and angles from here on out. They'll probably throw one of the top performers into the bottom 3 for "suspense" and "come on America, you aren't voting enough!" to please the sponsors. (You Cingular is getting some sort of kick back...) Country week? Man... this never turns out good because people end up picking country-POP songs. Although I will be really tickled if someone picks a Joshua Gracin (season 2) song. THAT would be hysterical. |
Per the American Idol site, the theme for next week (not this upcoming country week) will be the music of Queen! That will be interesting.

How I wish that someone would do "Teo Torriatte" and do it well. Or "Rock It/Prime Jive". Or even "It's A Kind of Magic." |
Ick, why are they doing a Queen theme week? I don't get the appeal at all. I also hate when they have such a narrow selection of song choices- i.e. one band or artist to pick from. I think it's much better when they have a genre or time period to pick from.

I'm guessing Bucky would do "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," since it was covered by Dwight Yoakum. If he doesn't do it, Kellie will. I can see Mandisa doing "The Show Must Go On" or "Don't Stop Me Now." Katharine can do "No One But You (Only The Good Die Young)." I want someone to do "Seven Seas of Rhye" and "Hammer To Fall." Either of those would be good for Chris. I think the group sing on elimination night should be "Another One Bites The Dust." ;) |
Sorry, Dani, but I love Queen. Real Queen, not this Queen + Paul Rodgers stuff. Now, if they could have convinced George Michael or even Robbie Williams, I could have tolerated it. But that's another thread for another time!
So, onto the info I found courtesy of alt.tv.american-idol. Looks like they're releasing another Queen greatest hits package with a couple of Paul Rodgers' songs that week. Promote new album = AI theme week. Wonder if we'll get to see Brian on Wednesday? So, my money says we'll hear selections from the following Queen/Free/Bad Co songs, based on the track listing: 1. Tie Your Mother Down 2. Fat Bottomed Girls 3. Another One Bites The Dust 4. Crazy Little Thing Called Love 5. We Will Rock You 6. We Are The Champions 7. Radio Ga Ga 8. Bohemian Rhapsody 9. Show Must Go On, The 10. These Are The Days Of Our Lives 11. I Want It All 12. All Right Now 13. Feel Like Making Love No chance of a vacuum or anyone loving their Car. I'm so sad. We'll have, what, 8 left next week? |
Maybe the theme to Flash Gordon?
Now that'd be hysterical. ETA: Apparently I have to wait until next week to see the hilarity... |
My extreme dislike of West Virginia aside, why in the hell is Taylor singing this song? It's terrible and boring.
I have the feeling i'm not going to like this week. The themes are leaving something to be desired. Wonder if Kenny Rodgers will teach them how to sell chicken? |
Ace actually did kinda decent. Paris I thought didn't do that well, at least for her.
|
I totally dug Chris tonight.
|
Weirdest. Week. Ever.
Normally Taylor is my favorite, and I've wanted Bucky to leave from the very beginning. Tonight? I thought Bucky was amazing and Taylor was awful. |
LOL on Kellie doing Fancy. When they announced the Country music theme last week, I said to my friend who I was watching the show with, "How fitting would it be if Kellie sang Reba McEntire's Fancy?" I called it. And I laughed loud and long when she sang, "I might have been born just plain white trash...". Reba McEntire she wasn't. Not even close.
Surprisingly, Taylor didn't do so well. I thought he'd do good on Country night. Ace and Bucky actually did good this week! The good: Chris, Bucky, Katharine, Ace The ok: Elliott, Paris The awful: Mandisa (horrible performance), Kellie, Taylor |
