Thought I'd toot the horn of my University and my department. Glasgow University Dept of History of Art was named #1 in research in the UK. Pretty awesome award, and definitely well deserved. http://www.gla.ac.uk/departments/his...104505_en.html

I have 3 more years before I, *gasp*, hopefully end up at Cornell for Hotel Management.

We were supposed to be published, too, if Sally Whinesalot (yes, this was a guy) hadn't effed things up. ETA: I see that you posted that at the beginning of the semester. How did it go? |

I contacted the grad school that I've applied to in order to determine whether my official transcripts had connected with my online application. They haven't. I ordered the official transcripts first and had a set sent to me too, since I had no clue where my transcripts were. The day I received them, I applied to grad school. I think I better order another set for grad school and verify which address they should go to. I just want to know for sure that I'm accepted although I'm not really worried because I meet the minimum criteria by a landslide.

AGD: ME TOO!! Congrats!! I'm taking an online class, just to get my head back in the game. Since my duties have been changed, I now have a lot of free time at work and figured this was the sign that I need to get back into school. That also means that I need to buy a laptop, since mine died a while ago.
But I am still excited!! We can support each other!! |
My whole program will be online, which will be interesting. The one thing I can't do is commit to being in a class at the same time every week so this is a great option for me. In addition to the Masters, I will also qualify to take the CISSP exam, a highly desirable IT security certification. In fact, I will qualify to take that after my first 6 courses and can get a graduate certificate at that point also. Therefore, if I'm completely and totally overwhelmed at that point, I can stop. But, I'm hoping I can handle it and finish it completely.

Well, I submitted the first paper today. My crappy computer wouldn't let me convert to Word 2007, so I had to type it in Google docs, then paste it into Word pad, save it, upload it, THEN submit it. But I turned it in AND answered the discussion question for this week. So now I have to read seven chapters in four days. Yep, welcome back to school.

I applied to 8 schools December 2008 & was accepted into 2. I will be starting a PhD program in biochem next month! I am nervous but excited to be "Dr" me in another 4-5 years!

The administrative assistant of East Carolina's Adult Education program emailed me today and said that first thing tomorrow morning, she is contacting the Graduate School to let them know that I can be admitted to the Adult Education masters program!!!
So hopefully this December, I'll have my grad certificate in Community College Instruction, and hopefully next December, it'll be my masters degree!!! :D:D |
My syllabus was posted yesterday. The first week's "packet" will be posted by Monday at the latest but the prof said he may post it earlier. Consider me officially overwhelmed. What made me think this was a good idea? I am not only broke at the most expensive time of year for the kids but I am so busy already... I don't know if I can do it all. Something might have to give, the question is.. what? Can't stop working or being a parent. Don't want to stop volunteering for the sorority. Don't want to give up the new man. Don't want to give up my new position as Web Coordinator for the Boy Scout Troop but I plan on delegating, not doing everything with that. Can't stop cleaning the house, although the cleaning standards may need to be lowered a little. OMG!!!!!!!! I'm nuts.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm working on applying to ten PhD programs and I'm still on my FIRST personal statement! Please tell me they get easier after this!
|
First week of readings is done. I have a two page paper to write and a minimum of three discussion board forum posts to do. The online lectures were only 25 minutes total (in the form of two voice over power points). I'll take that over sitting in class for 3-4 hours a week! Hopefully work won't be too crazy this week and I'll have some time to work on the paper while at work. The boss officially gave me permission to work on school work if things are slow at work. Problem is, things have been insanely busy at work lately, so I can't rely on that.
|
I just got the 3rd revision of the introduction of my thesis back... I got an "A," and can now proceed with the writing of the actual thesis! ( I am completing an MA in Humanities, through Cal State Dominguez Hills)
|
I start graduate school in January at DePaul University....M.A. Secondary Ed. English...:)
|
Every week, just as I finish the last assignment for the week, I do a little happy dance only to realize, the new week's packet has been posted and I have to start the process all over again. December 7th, where are you???
|

LOL! I know that feeling! I was *SO* happy when this semester ended! One more to go for my M.S. then we'll see if any of those Ph.D. Apps were approved! |
I'm considering going back to get a masters in higher ed. student personnel at UCF. I think I'll start with the GRE and see how I do from there. Anyone out there gotten this degree??? PM me!
|
In case some people didn't know, I graduated on Saturday and am now KSUViolet, M. Ed. Now time to pass my licensure exam!
|
YAAAY!!!!!! Congrats!!!
|
I have one more year in this Masters program at La Verne but I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. I've started researching doctorate programs and I'm pretty sure that as soon as I graduate next December, I'll go back to school.
I plan on applying at a few schools though my first choice is the Claremont Colleges to get a PhD in Linguistics. |

Yay for punishment! |
I just finished my Counseling degree oooohhhhh maybe 3 weeks ago and am waiting to see if I got any PhD interviews. I swear, I just like the pain. I'm wondering if I'll ever get to the point where I like school again.
|
I know I posted in this thread that I was going for a Ph. D.
Things have changed. I recently submitted my app materials for a 2nd Masters in something I have wanted to pursue for awhile. I am crazy. |
This weekend is completely devoted to studying for my GRE - which is next week - kill me.
All of my applications have been started, so that's good. The first two are due December 1st, but I'm planning on having all four in by them. It's a little unsettling not knowing where I'm going to be a year from now. |
