At our new sports network, the woman anchor is a KKG, one producer is an ATO, a production assistant is a DZ, and, of course there's this DeltAlum.
hmm
I used to work with my big and a Tri Sigma. I have recently been interviewing for summer jobs/internships. They have all commented (sort of jokingly) about my being Greek:confused: In the really nice conference room where I had a pannel interview, I saw a really old Kappa Sig composite from 1922- pretty cool.
I found out today that one of our newer employees at work is a Delta Sigma Theta. We ended up having a long discussion about our GLOs.
At my new job (that I am starting in August), the lady who is retiring (and whose place I am taking) is a Delta Gamma :)
I was the "Membership Orientation Chariwoman" for one of my co-workers! I think we have a few more greeks though ;)
Well, for the first time I actually have Greeks in the workplace.
Usually people in the US Army are...not the type of people that join frats/sororities. It wasn't until I started working in an Aviation Brig. that I ran into other Greeks. Now I work with about 7 guys that were in various frats all with wives/girlfriends that were in sororities. It's cool b/c we have similar experiences...and they know how to party and socialize. |

Usually people in the US Army are...not the type of people that join frats/sororities. ========================= Actually, its been my experience that a very healthy percentage of Army officers who are not West Point grads (no social Greek system there) tend to be fraternity men. There are fewer sorority women among the female officers but there is still a good representation. When I deployed in 2003 I was surprised and impressed by how many fraternity men were in leadership positions in combat arms units. dekeguy Captain, USAR |
My office is filled with Greeks as it is a very young company with a lot of people working here right after graduation. My cube is next to a DU, I have a DG on my team, my friend was a Chi-O, I know two sigma Chis... the list goes on.
We have several Greeks in my workplace. We almost have the entire D9.
Alpha Kappa Alpha (3),Alpha Phi Alpha (2), Zeta Phi Beta (3), Delta Sigma Theta (1), Omega Psi Phi (1), Iota Phi Theta (1), Kappa Alpha Psi (1), Delta Zeta (1), Sigma Delta Tau |
At my school one Assistant Principal is an AKA, another AP is APHIA, and one 15 year teacher is an AKA. I think there may be a few more but I'm not to sure.
There are two Alpha Sigma Tau alums, one Alpha Kappa Alpha, and one Lambda Phi Epsilon (also a Carnegie Mellon alum!). And, of course, this Alpha Chi. :)
one AKA, one DST, and one who was in a multicultural fraternity, and me
We have the following greeks:
1 Sigma Gamma Rho (ME) 1 Phi Beta Sigma 1 Zeta Phi Beta 1 Omega Psi Phi 1 Alpha Phi Alpha We had another Alpha, but he transferred at the first of the year |
I'm the only one...although for awhile the other Executive Admin. was not only a Chi O, but from my chapter! She was a couple of years older, so we never knew each other at school though.

i don't work, but forgive me since i think this thread is kinda cool (once i learned about greek life through GC i suddenly started to notice people turning up greek all over the place on facebook)
- two guys in my major are brothers of Psi U (Psi U brothers are also heavily involved in our student government) - my brother is a Phi Psi, as are several guys from HS (UMich) - an RA in my building is an AKA - a girl in my econ class is a Zeta Phi Beta - two of my roommates in new orleans, one was a KD, the other alpha phi - one of my best friend's brother is a delta chi (Arizona), as is one of my brother's good friends (UNLV) - a friend from HS is also an alpha phi (U Washington) - two of my ex's friends are tri-delts (Colgate) - a friend who i've known my whole life is a DZ (Ohio Wesleyan) - two other HS friends are DG (UChicago) and Phi Mu (Johns Hopkins) - a girl from my study abroad program in HS is a DPhiE (Georgetown), another one is an SDT (as is another girl I've known since kindergarten) (both at Tulane), another is a tri-delt (Emory) - a friend from HS is a Sigma Nu (Knox) - two girls from my brother's year - one is a Theta Phi Alpha (Embry-Riddle), the other is a ZTA (GSCU) - a girl from the year above me in HS is a Theta (Stanford), as is the daughter of a close family friend (Duke) i'm sure there's more i don't know about, but greek chat certainly opened my eyes to all of this :D |
There are only 3 of us in our office at my new job. One is a Sig Ep, one is not affiliated, and then there's me :)
There aren't any greeks in my department.
I work for a private university that doesn't recognize the greek system, and while I'm sure there are a few spread out in different departments on campus, greekdom seems to be frowned upon by the intellectuals here. |

youre lucky to get to work with so many greeks, where do you work?
Since the last time I posted I can now up my Greek count to a few more people: a Kappa Alpha Theta from UK, a Kappa Delta from UK, and another Sigma Kappa from UK. The Sigma Kappa from UK is exactly 10 years older than I am, and even though we barely knew each other a few years ago, we hang out all the time now! I think it was easy to be immediately comfortable around each other knowing that we have the Mystic Bond to share. :D
In my specific department? None. Not only that, I'm the only African-American here and have left the issue alone entirely, but I do wear a very pretty necklace with a charm that has the letters of my organization. Not a single soul has asked me about it and that's fine with me.
Throughout the other departments I've discovered that there are several of us! At least five Deltas spread throughout three different departments and we are definitely in contact with each other. Definitely nice to have some sorors here! |

2 AKA's 1 Gamma Phi Omega 1 Sigma Chi 1 Kappa Delta (I believe that was the org) 1 Phi Beta Sigma (not too sure I saw the letters on someone's car, could've just been borrowing it for the day) |
Since I am in the Army I know very few other females that were part of a NPC. I have know a few guys...Sigma Chi, Pike, Lamda Chi, and a few others....however it seems like the NHPC is represented very well in the Army...just my thoughts...

Other than myself, there is a coworker in my department who is an Alpha, and the firm administrator (controller/HR manager) who is a Kappa Delta. And a few years ago, we had an intern who was a Delta, and an ex-employee who pledged a local Greek org (Lambda Omicron Psi). But that was it.
I just found out today that the registrar at the school where I work was a Delta Zeta at MTSU :) Another lady there was a Kappa Delta at Auburn :)
One of my new coworkers is a Delta. We are the only Greeks.
My boss, VP of HR is a Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Bottom line: We're everywhere. Even where you least expect it, but most often, as you know, in leadership positions. I guess it's true that it takes one to know one, because my Greek-dar has never been wrong! :)

1 Lambda Chi (boss) 2 Chi-O's 1 Sigma Chi (me) |
Different job, different greeks.....
2 Pi Kappa Alpha brothers from Auburn University (2 of our lawyers) 1 Alpha Delta Pi from University of North Alabama (that's me!!) |
