Well, I haven't had a lot to say during this football season. I just hope we have a coaching staff by the time spring drills come around.:(

southbymidwest 01-05-2011 01:33 AM

Such a great game tonight! Kudos to BOTH teams, they gave it their all. Arkansas has an amazing QB and offensive line.

Smile_Awhile 01-05-2011 01:48 AM

God, that last minute killed me.

Congratulations, OSU. You definitely have an amazing defense, and knew exactly what we were doing (especially during the first half).

It was a great game, and so hard to go to sleep afterward! I let my 3rd grade son watch the game (he fell asleep on the couch during halftime). besides freaking out during the first touchdown, he commented that the Arkansas women's cheerleader outfits made their boobs look wierd- he didn't like the one shoulder design. Oh my, I guess this is what I have to look forward to...

southbymidwest 01-05-2011 04:50 PM

So Rich Rod is officially out at Meesheegan.

Top contenders include:

Harbaugh, HC at Stanford (he's looking at a possible 6 million/year at SF 49ers and he doesnt have to move, so maybe not)

Les Myles, HC at LSU and former Michigan man who has an out in his contract with LSU if Michigan comes a-calling (what say ye sigmaceli and AOII Angel?)

Brady Hoke (no sure if I got that right), HC at SDSU, also a former Michigan man who supposedly considers Michigan HC to be a dream job.

Talking heads are disagreeing as to what type of coach/offense would work best to get Michigan back to its glory days.

Bottom line, whoever comes in has to be able to recruit in the midwest and beat OSU, PSU, MSU, and not so much anymore, ND for the top recruits. They have not been able to do much of that lately.

And Forever Roses, I wasn't able to go to sleep for a couple of hours after the game last night-too wound up, and with a stomachache to boot!

pshsx1 01-05-2011 05:19 PM

I'm just sayin'...

But... yay Big 10... I guess... but.... ugh.

A lot of this football season made me sad. lol

ForeverRoses 01-05-2011 05:53 PM

Funny- I've seen that exact same picture with the boy in Ohio State garb!

I would hope they look at Les Miles. He fits in much better with the Big 10 than he does the SEC. And, he is originally from Northern Ohio, so he knows what Michigan alums want.

Ditto. Not exactly an original post.

sanjiyan69 01-05-2011 09:07 PM

I hope Michigan would have kept Rich Rod so MSU, Wisconsin, and OSU can keep knocking them around for another season.

Big Ten did not do well this bowl season. I could barely watch the MSU/Bama game.

If Harbaugh gets the Michigan job...watch out Big Ten.... Hoke will probably get it though.

GO STATE.

Well, there was a big firestorm about this when they took Rich Rod. Les SWORE that he had no intention of leaving LSU for Michigan since he had just won the National Championship with the Tigers. The shine has worn off the relationship since then between Les and a lot of LSU fans. I still love Les and his grass eating ways, but I know there would be a lot of LSU fans who would love to see him go (we have some fickle folks who boo'd through half the season when we were 7-0! Go figure!) Anyway, he's a great coach...I wouldn't blame them for approaching him, and after this year, I wouldn't blame him for seriously thinking about it. Don't look for him to comment before the Cotton Bowl, though. Geaux Tigers!!! Can't wait for Friday!!!

OSU got lucky. the ARK player should have scooped up the ball and ran for the TD instead of falling on the ball.

But I'm glad that OSU won. Big Ten is horrible this bowl season.

AGDee 01-05-2011 10:36 PM

Talk about tacky... the school where Rich Rod's daughter goes announced his firing over the PA system during school. I can't imagine the poor kid sitting there in class while they announce over the PA that her dad has lost his job. Sheesh.

I thought our defense was overall pretty solid last night. I wasn't talking about any one specific play.

Why in the hell did they do that? That is just indefensible and cruel.

yeah, his kids also had to deal with some stuff at school when he left West Virginia. I guess Rich Rod doesn't have too many fans their either. It's too bad that the kids have to deal with it though. But maybe the 3.2 mil that Michigan is paying Rich Rod will make her feel a bit better about her unemployed Dad.

Totally true. My friends who went to WVU hate on Rich Rod constantly. (It was something we could do together.)

The TimeNews feed made me feel a little (very little) better about New Year's Day: "The Badgers may have lost the Rose Bowl Saturday, but they can still boast that they're the coolest school in America. Read more: http://newsfeed.time.com/2011/01/05/...#ixzz1AGZmvyxX"

(I would have rather won, though)

AOII Angel 01-06-2011 10:46 AM

The West Virginia fans I met at the LSU game this year had nothing but nice things to say about Rich Rod. They said that everyone had fun "hating" him, but they all acknowledged that he got them where they were, and they were all grateful to have such a great coach for a while. We were a little shocked to hear that since none of us will say the same about Saban! :D

Interesting! My friends are really not of the same opinion, although they do agree (in a begrudging sort of way) that he got them to where they are. They are also not pleased with this football season....

Andrew Luck remains at Stanford

Good call. It's Stanford. A degree from Stanford is a good thing to have if the NFL doesn't work out.

The Facebook invite for this year's game was "Michigan State vs Saban"...which we all know the result. I think a lot of the MSU fans are still mad at Saban for leaving MSU.

I wonder how is WVU's attitude towards U of Michigan? Afterall they did hire Beilein and Rich Rod away from WVU.

just a thought.

AXOmom 01-06-2011 11:45 PM

^^^Well, coming from a family of West Virginians (although none of us went to WVU), I personally don't have bad feelings towards Michigan although I wanted them to lose while he was there. I did have a coworker who was a Michigan man. When he found out I was a West Virginian he apologized to me on behalf of the University of Michigan. LOL.

AOII Angel I do not know what namby, pamby, bandwagon, pitiful brand of West Virginia Mountaineer football fan you met, but they need to have their state citzenship papers revoked! I'm just not that forgiving - and I'm a minister's wife. You reap what you sow, Rich.

AGDee 01-06-2011 11:53 PM

The real problem with Michigan is that we want another Bo and there will never be another Bo. <sigh>

Ha, ha! That's how I feel, too! He was a huge fan...went to all the away and home games. He talked like an insider, which was interesting. I know he made my husband raise his eyebrows! Hell, it's been how many years since Saban left LSU, and we still affectionately call him Satan.

Yeah, we have similar problems at LSU. We aren't looking to replace a particular coach, but we want perfection. There is no perfection. You'll have great years and not so great years. The worst thing you can do is chase off a good coach during the off years. Hopefully you guys will find someone who will fit your school. That's all you can really hope for.

AGDLynn 01-07-2011 12:31 AM

Truly hope Farley gets DECKED on the 1st play

http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefoot...rty-rep-010611

I've never said that about a player but he is the first.

He scares me the way he has injured QBs and other players, esp. after the ball was thrown, etc.

Sounds like the coaches know that he is dangerous but won't/can't stop him.

AXOmom 01-07-2011 12:35 AM

Okay, I'm cringing. It might be true - probably is - but the last thing my Ducks need is to give Auburn any bulletin board material 5 days before this game. Darren needs to zip it for the time being.

sanjiyan69 01-07-2011 08:04 AM

I hope Oregon can stop Cam Newton. Can't stand Auburn.

Kevin 01-07-2011 03:12 PM

I'm indifferent on who wins this year, although I might say that seeing the SEC winning it every single year is getting a little old.

Well, as much as people hate the SEC, we're a strong conference. There is no denying it. Oregon may have the winning formula, though. Their no huddle offense may be enough to wear down the Auburn defense. It's something that the SEC (and really anyone else) doesn't see. It should be an interesting game. As much as I hate Auburn, I have to root for the SEC. When one of our conference members wins, it makes us all look good.
