Sounds like a good rush all around!!! Good luck to your daughters, I'm very happy for both them and y'all!
Also, thanks for the updates!!! I love living vicariously through these tales (having only boys!):) |
AUMom08 and AuburnMom08, sounds like your girls are hanging in there great and still have some good options to consider during skit round. Here's hoping they have a fantastic day and get a good snapshot of the chapters they are visiting today. As we have heard time and time again, groups that girls wished they could drop can suddenly become THE ONE, given a second or third look.
Srmom, you said it for me, too. I think all of us posting in this thread, including the very balanced moms, are well aware of the difference between a rush party and a war casulty. However, since this is Greek Chat, we are chatting about greeks. |
Yea- Ditto!!!:)

Thanks to all for kind comments. Will post an update later. She is supposed to call after next party (I think). Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't hear from her until after 6:00 tonight.
Will update as soon as I know something. |

Yeah for Auburn moms
Yeah!! I am excited your daughters have parties to go to! One of the auburn moms asked if there are more cuts before pref day and the answer unfortunately is yes. Traditionally after skit day it is a heavy cut. some sororities this is the day they make their "legacy" cut. depending on what quota is (typicallly for Auburn it is around 55-60) Sororities will invite 2 to 3 times the amount of quota to pref. So that means for sorority xyz, a total of around 150 girls will be invited to pref, and they can extend around 55 bids. Hope that makes sense- hang in there, keep up the positive smiles, believe it or not, lots of girls quit here....tell them to hang in, its almost over!!

I just found out that legacies typically send gifts to the house during the week as they are making their decisions...gift cards, flowers, food...I had no idea! |

It wasn't typical at Kentucky. Some alums would send flowers / balloons / snacks for the members during work week and rush week, but I never saw the alleged "Remember Suzy Rushee" cheesecake. |

Alumnae would send things, but not legacies |

I will never forget opening one of those large tins of popcorn only to find Suzy Rushee's HUGE face smiling back at me... they had blown the photo up to a circle the size of the tin. Scared the bejeezus out of me. There were also the ever-present Cookie Co cookies that would have a rushee's name and hometown. This was rush in Texas before the days of no-frills and gifts to the chapter being rush infractions. Back then certain alumnae chapters really went overboard with promoting the girls from their area. Obnoxious? Yep. But the food sure was good. I didn't hear a single person complain. |

I loved rush (from the sorority side) the food sent was amazing and abundent.;) |

We must have been there around the same time. It was crazy some of the stuff that was sent! But, the food items were the best. Nothing helps with a long night of membership selection more than bucket loads of calories!! |
