Interesting video coverage (apologies if it's already been posted): http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/05/07/...es#cnnSTCVideo

Rick, is the same Doug Case who sends out reports via emails about what is going on with GLOs?
I am sure the investigation is far from over. While it seems that TX and PKS are the ones most mentioned, it also lists at least 4 others, Fraternities only. With the proximity of S D to the Mexican border it would not be hard to beleive, but the ignorance and stupidity can be. I guess a main question to be answered is how many active members were involved in each house. I hope this does not blow Greek Life out of SDSU as it was really starting to pick up and grow. |

Six SDSU Fraternities Placed On Suspension as a Result of Drug-Related Arrests As a result of a San Diego State University Police investigation into drug trafficking/sales, six SDSU fraternities have been placed on interim suspension. The six fraternities include: Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Kappa Psi, Phi Kappa Theta, Theta Chi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Sigma Alpha Mu. According to James Kitchen, SDSU's Vice President of Student Affairs, the fraternities have been suspended pending a hearing into evidence gathered. Several fraternity members were among the SDSU students arrested as part of the investigation – which included an extensive undercover operation in tandem with the Drug Enforcement Agency. To provide updated information on the investigation and arrests, SDSU has established a special Web site for students, parents, faculty/staff and members of the public at http://www.sdsu.edu/information. |
Updated web page of campus newspager-seems like minor re-writes:

I hate the DEA

How horrible for all of the alumni of those organizations and greek life on the SDSU campus in general. It's so hard to hear these things about GLOs because it does so much harm to the reputation of Greek members, whether students at SDSU or not. I wish people would just think more. When you're a member of something, especially when it comes to fraternities or sororities, you have to make sure you monitor yourself and behave properly because it comes back on everyone not just you. I don't understand how people can be so thoughtless and selfish.

Does anyone know if the undercover officers joined the fraternities while "blending in"?

These stings are similar to the ones the agents did in the high schools in the 1980's in San Diego... The rich parents will probably claim entrapment of their kids. The poor parents or the kids who are independent have little choices.
The only problem is that once the info gets out that a Narc is up in your chapter, the other schools could hurt that Narc... There are telltale signs. It happened in a few SD high schools--like Monte Vista HS circa 1985. |
