IIRC, EW transferred to or from Arkansas, and he was not an active member of the Kappa Sigma chapter there.

This includes any "Traditional", "Top Tier", "Old Row", "Good Ole Boy", "SEC", "Southern", "Conservative", "My Daddy has more money than your Daddy" chapter. Cause any good fraternity man knows you have to find favor with the sorority sisters if you want to get to the girl. ;)

DSTChaos was asking if THIS sorority was shunned, not the ones who had the bad taste to pledge the poor black girl.

EW was the one who brought up race. He didn't just say "a poor woman" as if the class background was the central issue and not race. He's full of it.

However, I bet dollars to donuts that any chapter that pledges a women with such stunning looks would be hard pressed to be shunned by the fraternities. Regardless of her pigment.

The less Hollywood-ized version of her looks a lot different but, using the naturally beautiful women I know in real life, I see your point. :)

I don't know if the straight up racism that EW is espousing is actually that common. Even the most traditional, conservative, old south chapter has members (and I actually think a majority of members) who would be disgusted by the assertion that because a group includes a minority member that the group isn't to be associated with socially.

But there are also individual members who may/do hold racist views, and because the non-racist members don't push their position and insist on showing good leadership, the racists are more influential than they ought to be.

It isn't. The covert form is a lot more common.

Plus, EW is probably unlikely to say these things in real life around people who he knows doesn't hold these views. He knows social cues just like almost everyone else does, which is why all -isms have mostly transformed from the "Archie Bunker types" to something less obvious.
