If you recall - Charlie (the body man in question) finished his undergraduate degree and was working on his master's while preforming his other responsiblities....... so was it not possible for him to finish undergrad through at least an on-line outlet???

i'd venture to say that even if the president wasn't unpopular the whole getting a master's without an undergraduate degree first would probably ruffle a few feathers.

Possibly - I still think, though, that if it wasn't the name "Bush" attached, some of the criticisms in this thread would change to "Good for him!"

That's just my read on it though. I also agree with Munchkin that, while the admission is one thing, how well he does with it is a whole other matter.

Of course the name "Bush" is important to the argument and a reason for it. The names Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Nixon, Eisenhower would cause the same argument -- at least in my mind.

The almost surely wouldn't be getting this break if he didn't have presidential backing.

That's the point as I see it.

Haha, fair enough.

Delt, as to your point, I don't personally think the names of the other presidents given would cause the same reaction from some of the people responding in the thread. I think people see the name "Bush" and instantly get a negative reaction. If this was Clinton or Carter, some of the people in this thread would probably have a more positive reaction to this.

The world will never know. Just know that there are enough of us in this thread who don't dislike W but think this is hokey.

That's crazy as hell!! I'm just upset because I actually had to graduate from college before I could get into graduate school. (wondering to myself-How can I get on someone's campaign so that I can get my PhD....)

I'll be honest, your probably right. If it were any other president but Bush, I probably wouldn't be as upset. I still would be though!

i don't think its right that others work their butt off for 4 (or more) years to get into a top school like Harvard, and here comes Joe Shmoe who makes PB&J sandwiches for the Pres, and he gets into an MBA program with nothing but a "drop-out freshman year" on his record!

Its not right, and its not fair---but life isn't fair. So what can ya do, ya know? We can bitch and moan all we want, its not like its gonna change anything.
