I guess we all have our preferences and that's mine. I remember what her show became once she "CAME OUT OF THE CLOSET" .... just a little too much for me...and I'm being COMPLETELY HONEST! Some don't like Star and I don't like Rosie...as said before...it's all about preferences.

I ended up catching a re-play of the Larry King interview in the middle of the night last night and I was more impressed with Star than I have been in the past. She addressed each point, stating that she decided to make the announcement two days early because the tabloids had already picked it up and she thought the viewers should hear it from her, not from the tabloids. She also mentioned that only she and ABC knew that she would be leaving, so it must have been ABC who leaked it to the tabloids. She also said that she states in her book that her weight loss happened after medical intervention because she could barely breathe and was having a lot of medical problems due to her weight. Anybody who has knowledge of bariatric surgery, knows that exercise and healthy eating are required to lose weight and maintain that weight loss. Many people do not lose weight after the surgery or gain it back fairly quickly. But, she says it's right in her book and that she never hid that. She also said that she found out the day before the Day Time Emmy's that she was going to be let go (April 21st) and that, although ABC gave her the out of lying about why she was leaving, she decided to be honest. So, she is being lambasted for telling the truth. She also said that they had a big send off prepared for her on Thursday and she did not want them to do that because it was not her choice that she was leaving. She was careful to not say that she was fired. She said "My contract wasn't being renewed". Larry King said "So you were fired?" and she said "I felt like I was fired, but my contract wasn't renewed". He said "That means you were fired" and she just repeated over and over "My contract wasn't being renewed". She refused to put down anybody on The View and spoke with high regard for Barbara Walters. She also reiterated that ABC said they would let her leave on her own terms. So, her terms ended up being announcing it two days early because tabloids were already reporting it.
I think she was a class act in the interview. If she has had skin removed after all that weight loss, I wouldn't be surprised. Most who lose that much weight do have to have that kind of plastic surgery and it's often covered by insurance as a medical necessity because it causes a lot of problems. I'm not one to pick on how someone looks when there is nothing they can do about it. She has no control over how far apart her eyes are. They are wide set and her face used to be a lot bigger so it wasn't so obvious. It's not a reason to hate on her. I think anybody who lost that much weight would be very proud of themselves. Nobody ripped on Al Rocher when he lost all that weight and they focused on it a lot on the Today show. I think The View was about over with with Meredith leaving. It was going downhill anyway. Isn't there a saying in show biz that any publicity is good publicity? The show got itself some publicity, so they lost nothing. |

If that were true, then how come she told People magazine that she was fired, to the point that when People ran the article about her in very big letters it stated "I was fired". I find if very hypocritical that she told People magazine that she was fired but then tried to tell Larry King that she wasn't. |

The quoted article from the People web site says ""What you don't know is that my contract was not renewed for the tenth season," she tells PEOPLE exclusively. "I feel like I was fired." " They grabbed just the last part of that for their cover. These days, I think People is just one step up from tabloids and, in my opinion, they frequently embellish to make things sound outrageous. That's how they sell magazines.
ABC News reported : At her peak, she weighed 300 pounds, and she's only 5 feet 5 inches. According to things I can find on the web, she has lost 150 pounds, which puts her at 150 pounds now. That is STILL considered overweight (by BMI) at 5'5". The highest weight you can be in the "healthy" range at 5'5" is 144. A part of me is probably reacting to my own disgust with how the general public seems to feel that everything a celebrity does should be totally public and has nothing to do with Star herself. I don't particularly care for Star, but I'm not sure she deserves the public lashing she is getting. |

She's a public figure, and she chooses to be one. She could have spent her life as a lawyer or whatever and kept it a lot mroe quiet. But she chose to put herself in the spotlight. She also made the choice to lie about something, and it's came back to bite her in the ass. She's not the first celebrity to have that happen. Especially when she chose to make a big deal out of her other surgery- having a breast lift, etc. If you want to keep a private life, fine. But don't go talking about other surgeries, pimping out your wedding, etc. |

I've always thought that from the get-go, star has been saying that she lost the weight by medical intervention (surgery), but now I'm hearing that she claims to have lost the weight by exercise, pilates, yoga?

What does it really matter if she lost weight by "Diet and exercise" and/or "medical intervention". Point is...she is healthier now. We may not be pleased with how she looks but as long as she is pleased, then we should leave her alone! What if someone bashed you for EVERYTHING that you did! Sometimes we forget that these "celebrities" are REAL people with REAL feelings/emotions! We are too JUDGMENTAL just because we don't "know them personally". We don't know their inner struggles..for goodness sake, they don't know yours. You chose the profession that you are in and she chose hers! Frankly its quite disheartening to continue to talk about her when you don't know what she's going through and/or went through with regards to her weight and/or her dismissal from ABC...Of course, as mentioned before, things are sliced and edited in a way that would make the other person look/sound good. Star will remain a classy and sophisticated woman, with or without television footage..
