I am white. Alpha Sigma Alpha is not white. The National Panhellenic Conference is not white. The Interfraternity Council is not white. I have sisters of all races, both in ASA and Panhellenicly.

These are entities and institutions so of course they will TECHNICALLY not be "white" seeing as though socially constructed race categories would TECHNICALLY only apply to humans. :)

:) Once again:

PWI = predominently white (which typically means historically white), not exclusively white *anymore*
HWGLO = historically white (which typically means predominently white), not exclusively white *anymore*

But if it offends SOME of the people on Greekchat so much, since I haven't been informed of such an uprise in the real world over such acronyms, I will TRY to remember not to type it. :p

There have been whole threads on it, and I'm not the only one (in fact most other NPCers say the same) and this is all I ask.

ETA: Just a question: Chaos, how many NPCers are included in your "real world"?? I'm not questioning your statement, but I just don't think many non-NPCers really care.

Wow, that's pretty intense. :)

I was moreso talking about the PWI reference. That acronym is used almost everyday by the institutions themselves, umbrella organizations, and so forth.

Alright. That's cool. PWI doesn't get to me as much as WGLO.

I'd like to see some sort of cite for that really. In an age where diversity is king, no school wants to appear monochrome.

I have never heard any college or university call itself "predominantly white" nor have I heard one called that by any sort of outside organization (except on GC)
