It isn't a very clear picture but she doesn't look very terrified to me. She appears to be smiling.

Oh, she's grinning, all right. But maybe that's just her own special way of expressing how terrified she is. Who knows. :p

... or maybe it was Opposite Day!!! So she was grinning instead of having a terrifed look?

Ok so it was in desperation that she drove off with Sean in her lap. Being a mom I can kinda see that. What I don't get is:

1. why she is smiling, if I have to drive with my child on my lap it better be a real emergency and I guarantee you I will not be smiling in this case.

2. If you look at the other pics posted online you will see her body guard has his seatbelt on. If he managed to come out of starbucks, buckle in and be talking on his phone, why didn't he also take Sean away from B.S and rach back and restrain him?

3. Why the state of CA hasn't charged her with child endangerment since this is obviously against the law

4. Why the police haven't cited her for driving with an unsecured minor which is also against the law. Every state has laws regarding child seat use and since Sean is only a few months old he is not going to meet the minimum requirements in any state to be unrestrained.

edited to say: ok, so I read the article now and I guess they (DCFS and the police) are investigating. GOOD.

What "danger" exactly are then in?? In danger of having their pics taken? I know the paparazzi can be agressive, but would you rather take the chance of having a few unauthorized pics taken (no royalties...the horror!!  ) or getting into an accident, having the air bags deploy and kill your baby??

darling1 02-08-2006 09:03 AM

ugh

she should have been arrested for negligence..but she wont cuz she's a celebrity. if you are so 'fearful' then you should have kept your butt at home and had someone get whatever you went out to get or tint your frickin' windows.

me or any non-celeb would have received a ticket or been arrested.

this is sickening.

TMZ has learned that Deputy Mark Winn, from the LA County Sheriff's Dept., is on his way back (1:30 PM Pacific Time) from Britney Spears' home. We're told the deputy went to the singer's home to ask questions about Britney driving with her baby on her lap without proper child restraint.

TMZ has also learned the LA County Department of Chidren and Family Services (DCFS) has contacted the LA County Sheriff's Department, inquiring about the incident.

TMZ contacted DCFS and an official would not say if the matter was under investigation.

Britney issued a statement saying, "I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger." She added, "I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way..."

The TV show 'EXTRA' has obtained the following statement from X17, the company that took the picture: "These pictures were taken in a very peaceful context, in which photographers exhibited no aggressive behavior. We believe the pictures speak for themselves."

There is some danger with some of them.. just look at the Reese Witherspoon mess with her daughters birthday party.

I don't know what happened with RW and her daughter, but I was thinking of Princess Diana and Lindsay Lohan and her recent car accidents.

That happened BECAUSE they were driving. Why couldn't she have locked up the car and either waited it our, or secured her son? Although, I guess that's the real question everyone else has mentioned.

You star-mongering whiney women need to calm down and look at this from the correct point of view:

social.

darwinism.

She shouldn't be 'arrested' or anything of the sort - instead, we should let nature take its course.

Yeah, but her baby's life is involved, too. The poor kid didn't pick his parents.

Yo Alphafrog. Princess Diana wasn't driving the car when she died. :(

No, but the car was being driven by someone. If the car hadn't been in motion, they couldn't have gotten in an accident, unless one of the paparazzi hit them parked, and she might not have died in that case.

Plus, Brit was driving, not her son, and no one cares if Brit dies.

That's funny, I thought it was because they were being stalked by the paparazzi. :p
