I need her address

I need her address for the flowers. I have a house account with FTD so I can take care of it quite easily, I just need to know her address to do it.

Got Johns CD on Warren Cole.

The many pictures are awesome.

Thanks Bro.

Cannot wait for Mike Raymonds article in the next C & C in July.

Am I correct that We were the first ones in LXA that found Warren's Buriel Plot?

I often wondered why He was just relegated to such a minor part of our history not with standing the early foopaa?

Brother Tom,

The WAC article is scheduled for the December issue of the C&C. There will be coverage of the WAC Expedition in that article.

To the best of my knowledge, his burial site was not offically known by the Fraternity until rediscovered two weeks ago!

Yours in ZAX,

Mike Raymond,

Looking forward to it!

Give Kuddos to all of the Brothers who woked on find Warren Cole Site!

A Mystery that was solved and We did it!

congrats and thanks

Congratulations to the Expedition team and thanks to all who worked on
this little adventure....wish I could have been with you, I love doing stuff
like this!

It seems this is an old family graveyard which is not well-maintained these
days. There are many of these throughout the country....the newer
generations don't visit/care for them when no one has been buried
there in decades.

Maybe we as LXA's could do something to support the upkeep of the
graveyard. Sending troops of undergrads out to do work probably
wouldn't be the best idea.

Perhaps someone on the expedition team, or someone local, could work
out an agreement with the town (or whoever is legally in control of the
graveyard) so that LXA's could donate to a fund to pay "professional"
groundskeepers to keep it up. Some local LXA brother could visit the
site occassionally to make sure the work is getting done.

Just a brainstorm. I have relatives in very old graveyards and know how
they end up after decades of neglect.

My Joiner family graveyard, with burials going back about 175 years,
is located on a US military base. During WW2, Ft. Campbell, KY, was
originally established as a German POW camp, then quickly expanded,
gobbling up surrounding farmland, etc, including our family graveyard.

For decades we were not officially allowed to visit the site. On occassion
some family members would "trespass" on the US military installation and
go through the woods (from adjacent private property) to visit the site.
It became VERY overgrown and almost impossible to find.

Fortunately in the 1990's the US military became concerned with
"public relations." Once the fort's PR directory found out about the
graveyards, and the "unofficial" visits, the military ordered the
graveyards restored and cleared dirt roads to get to them. Ft. Campbell
now maintain the graveyards, and family members can make "official"
visits anytime they like by going thru the front gates of the fort.
(No more sneaking and cross-country travel required!)

Cole's cemetery

The city actually maintains the place. The grass was clipped. The access road up from the paved road did show signs use, but certainly not very often. The stones in the wall were all in the right place. In a far corner were some broken headstones that were neatly stacked up so it appears that somebody is taking care of the place.

Tom Earp 06-26-2006 04:15 PM

john, emailed you with Karens info.

Dang, I still have the jitters of finding Warren's Plot in death.

I also like Kevins idea but would it be cost effective?:) Would it make much difference in the upkeep?

It is a special place for many of us isn't it?:D

How many now?

JoinerLxa 06-26-2006 09:45 PM

re: upkeep

Its good to hear the city is keeping it up. So we won't need to do anything
organized. Maybe some local brothers, or others, can place flowers once
a year or so...that would be nice.

JonoBN41 06-26-2006 11:01 PM

Still, it wouldn't hurt if they knew that 250,000 people (living and dead) will be keeping an eye on that one stone. You know, just for added insurance? They might make a notation.

ZAX,
Jono

Cole CDs

Has everyone who wanted a Cole CD received it? I'd swear I forgot about someone!

Tom Earp 07-10-2006 03:30 PM

Email from Karen Remaine.

Dear Tom,
I was somewhat mystified when I received a delivery from DHL this morning. The box didn't look like anything I had ordered. Then I opened it and realized that it came from Lambda Chi Alpha. I am very impressed with the lily plant you sent and will take it home to be cared for.
Please give my thanks to all of you. I will mention it to my classmate Dick Gilmore when I see him this weekend for a post reunion meeting.
Karen

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Dick Gilmore Karen is refering to is a LXA from Colby which removed Greeks from campus a while back. They were class mates back when!:)

John G, thanks you very much for the gift from the expidetion team.

Tom Earp 08-23-2006 05:32 PM

Getting an email from Karen Remaine, she said still has the Casa Lily John and just loves it.

She is leaving Christ Church, retiring as she calls it.:)

She said this was one of the most interesting things she has ever done and truely enjoyed it.

Having some good friends who are LX's she felt it ment so much more for them and us.

Mike, I cannot wait for Dec. to get here to read the Article about the finding!

Trouble is, there will be snow on the ground!:(

john1082 08-23-2006 08:59 PM

And the directions STILL won't be in print!!
