Was our economy devestated before the illegals?

Was our economy defestated in the 50's and 60's? Back in the day when blue collar workers could afford to send their kids to college, own their own home, own a vacation home and retire as millionares?

i was in el paso one summer and was driving pretty much right on the border. i saw mexico on one side and the united states on the other. i was like "this is too easy to cross" since there were no patrols.

in my opinion, illegals should not be here. sure they do the jobs most americans dont want, but you still have legal immigrants that dont have jobs and would probably do the work.

both sides are terribly misguided. there are so many illegal immigrants crossing the border from Mexico because that country is having a civil war.

I think the U.S. and Canada should work together to bring stability back to North America.

Living in So california where there is tons upon tons of illegals here i say boot them back home....i have no pity for them and quite honestly I am fed up with them taking everything that we work hard for

I dont agree with them receiving driver lic's----if your not a citizen you dont deserve a lic.

I dont believe in them recieving welfare---why should they recieve it when we have our own living in shelters without a roof over ther heads or medical attention these ILLEGALS are receiving and steeling from our own

i dont believe in educating the children it only gives them more chances to rob our assists and gain stronger footing on our land ....when i was born and raised here and their type get priority Financial aid or priority registration over me and they boost about it....it is a disgrace to our country and disprepectful to our citizens to over look us and give to these ILLEGAL aliens

So you're saying that someone who transfered to the US from, say Australia shouldn't get a driver's licence either? Say they live in the suburbs with their husband/wife and kids and need to get to town to work.

What about international students and those legally working in the States (businessmen, diplomats, engineers, etc, etc)?

In neither of the two above cases would the person likely be illegal. If transferred here for work from Australia, getting a work visa should be relatively easy. If here studying from abroad, you get a student visa which is automatic.

I think what she's objecting to is illegal immigrants that consume our public services without making contributions to them.

I feel the same as you.....has anyone been to South Florida lately? Miami mainly? Little Havana isnt even full of Cubans anymore....it's all hondurans and guatamalens. They all seems the same if you're just glancing at them......Most of them need to go back to where they came from. Most of those people don't even have the decency to speak english. And they actually have the nerve to talk shit about you in spanish right there in front of you thinking you don't understand them.

Its kind of like those muslims who go back to pakistan and listen to their sheiks say horrible things and radical ideas about the very country/people that support those idiots and enable them to have a life. I don't see what jobs people who are in this country illegally take from "us" -- do you want to go do yardwork for 12 hours a day for less than minimum wage? I mean maybe that's your area of expertise so you are missing out on exciting employment opportunities, but I seriously doubt it.
