Y'all are some crazy so and so's...

I don't think the outfits from the Diva's Live show was Tina Knowles. Those outfits were from a REPUTABLE designer. :o :p I think that's what I heard on Extra, ET, or E! Tina's designs are more "cut up".

Afrochic doesn't post regularly, but you can count on her to give us the SKOOP! Thanks! :D

Orlando Jones to Get Late-Night Talk Show

Jun 16, 2:12 PM (ET)

By The Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) - In the crowded neighborhood of late-night talk shows, Orlando Jones wants to move in and become the rowdy resident who shakes up the block.

The "The Orlando Jones Show," debuting Monday night on the FX cable network, features the popular former 7-Up TV spokesman pledging to break what he called the stale humor of his late-night rivals.

Among the sketches, Jones plays a researcher at an institute studying the palm-slapping, finger-jabbing moves of street handshakes. He also plays the pitchman for bandages that match the skin tones of black people, from "Morgan Freeman Black (with freckles)" to "Halle Berry Latte."

If that sounds offensive, Jones says you're too uptight - or too old. The 35-year-old actor-comedian said he's "not looking at the world the way people who are 50 look at it."

Instead of having a band, he hired pop and R&B producer Dallas Austin to add music to the show. He also discarded the traditional talk-show decor. "A desk and a cityscape is really kind of boring," Jones said. "It's not me. ... I want a sofa, something Italian, sexy, sleek, that looks like a club I'm going to."

Among his first guests: Adrien Brody, the Oscar-winning star of "The Pianist," and Michael Chiklis of FX's crime series "The Shield," a program that proved to Jones that the network would stand by edgy material. Half-hour episodes will air Monday through Thursday with a rerun on Fridays.

RIP Blacula

'Blacula' actor William Marshall dead
Tuesday, June 17, 2003 Posted: 11:00 AM EDT (1500 GMT)

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Actor William Marshall, who played a variety of roles, from Shakespeare's "Othello" on stage, to "Blacula" in the camp movie classic, died Wednesday. He was 78.

Marshall, who suffered in recent years from Alzheimer's disease, died in a Los Angeles rest home.

The actor appeared in dozens of films and in popular TV series such as "Star Trek" in the 1960s and "The Jeffersons" in the 1980s.

He taught acting workshops at colleges and at the Mufandi Institute in Watts, where he served as director in the 1960s.

On stage, Marshall portrayed singer Paul Robeson and statesman
Frederick Douglass, a role he spent 15 years researching. He
eventually played the part of the famed abolitionist on television.

Marshall was born in Gary, Indiana, and studied acting at the Actors Studio and the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City after spending several years as an art student at New York University.

He played the Moorish king in "Othello" in Europe and in the United States. The London Sunday Times once hailed him as "the best Othello of our time."

Marshall brought the same dignity to the title role in the 1972
movie, "Blacula" and its sequel, "Scream, Blacula, Scream!" First
conceived as a dimwitted count, Marshall modeled the character on the original Count Dracula in Bram Stoker's 19th century novel.

Mekhi Phifer slams ex-wife

The 8 Mile star Mekhi Phifer has launched a harsh attack on his ex-wife Malinda Williams, after she spoke out about his infidelity.

Actress Williams, who has a son with the ER star, blames the actor for their marriage meltdown -- and now he's fired back.

He rants, "I was 23 when she got pregnant. You want to do the right thing – what society deems as being the right thing. She wanted a structured family lifestyle that she was used to growing up. The women are dominant matriarchs in her family and the men are subversive, subservient and subdued. Me? I come from a family of men – grown-ass men handling their business.

"It's easy for a woman to say, 'He cheated on me and did this and that.' Look, I'm a very sexual person – I love to make love. In the morning, stink breath? I want to make love. At night after champagne, I want to make love. Women have to let men be men, not walk over them. If you are dealing with a yellow-bellied, no backbone muthaf***a, then okay. I'm a mover and a shaker – a king.

"I didn't want to be home anymore. We had nothing to talk about because she didn't know the people I knew. Any argument that we had, 90 percent of the time, I didn't know what the f**k she was talking about. There was just tension in the house and she couldn't be sympathetic. I didn't ask her to cook, clean, nothing. I had cleaning ladies, all that s**t.

"But if you want your man to be there with you, you have to be there with him, too – a stimulus for a muthaf***a. For most of the relationship, I was the mover and shaker, she was home complaining.

"I was young. I had an ideology of what I was doing, but it wasn't the right thing with that particular person. She's a great mom; I'm a great dad. But we weren't made for each other. You can't teach an old dog new tricks."

:( I don't want anyone talking bad about "Bird" (Malinda Williams)... have ya'll read her interview in Honey?

Gina1201 06-19-2003 01:41 PM

Yes, I read the article in Honey. She said that she used to always find numbers in his pants pockets or in his car. She even had to BEG him to come to the birth of their child. ***SMH***

Reportedly, Brandy and her husband are separated.

I got a tip on a new book by Michael Jordan's sister. I heard part of the interview this morning on my way to work. It sounded juicy. Sis and Mike have not spoken in 5 years.

if interested in the book...www.jordansignaturepublishing.com

On the Russ parr morning show this morning she was on there promoting her book "Living in the Family Shadow". She talked about how she was molested by her father as a child, , how
her mom ordered their family to ignore it and never discuss what happened, how she wanted to get help at a mental facility but feared ruining m.j.'s career. She also said that nobody in her family wanted her to publish the book but she's been trying since early 90's. Its out but only via website(claiming that barnes/noble, walden books and other outlets will not sell the book b/c mj was the greatest, etc.).
