I hate to admit that I am also a snoop and knew what my boyfriend was getting me for Christmas :( I also did not have to fake being happy (we did presents early since we won't be together for Christmas). Coach and Tiffanys - you can't go wrong! :D

Sadly, no. There's still New Year's though... And I did make a huge fuss about one of my pledge sisters just getting engaged (she e-mailed me a pic of a candle, lol). No worries, I'll post a pic of the ring when it happens ;)

Girl says: WOW So-and-so just got ENGAGED, that's SOOOOOO AWESOME.
Girl means: Hey, you big dumb jerk! That's your cue. You're supposed to be thinking along those lines too.

Guy hears: Squeak, squeak, some guy just screwed himself over.
Guy thinks: Glad it's not me.


Making a big deal about engagements to a guy is usually NOT a direct enough hint. Direct enough hints include: Pointing out the ring you would like, leaving bridal mags out with sticky notes on the bride and groom saying "YOU" and "ME", and flat out telling him that unless he proposes, you're out of there.:p;)

Yeah, we've talked about it and I straight up told him that I would feel better about us if we were engaged before he deployed. We've talked marriage before and I said (to ease his mind) that engagements aren't legally binding and we know we're eventually getting married anyway, so why not at least get engaged. We just bought a house, people assume it already anyway! When we were clearing out of the apt this weekend and the apt complex lady was walking us out, she asked if there was a wedding anytime soon (in front of his parents!) and he was like, I dunno maybe (in that happy tone, not the shut up you're freaking me out tone). I think it's entirely possible New Years (we've already got reservations at the Palms restaurant in Nashville and a pretty nice hotel) but it's entirely possible he won't at the same time. My mom seems pretty optimistic though which makes me wonder if she knows something... and the parents met over the weekend...
