The songs they play are from band artists like Chicago, Tower of Power, Blood Sweat and Tears, Cold Blood, Earth, Wind and Fire, Ides of March, Blues brothers and the Commitments and others did I forget to mention

Ooh exciting thread.

I played Soprano Recorder, Clarinet, Soprano Sax, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, and Bass Sax.

I was a musical beast.

I still have my first Recorder and Alto Sax and a random Clarinet that I "found."

At my elementary school, everyone in 4th grade learned to play the recorder. Random, I know. I still know how to play a few things.

I played clarinet in 5th and 6th grade.

I now play the drums and have for the past 10 years.

LOL word. i feel like every song sounds the same on a recorder. My mom went through that "let me just blow into the recorder and have it make the same high pitched sound" phase with all of us.

and then my 5th graders last year did a little performance, it was so cute. and they were so proud.

do musicians professionally play the recorder? what place does it have aside from grade school music classes?

and to answer the question, aside from recorder, i played guitar in 8th grade (not very well) and keyboard in 9th (i was a little better in that, got a keyboard for christmas and all).

if i COULD take lessons, id go for violin or piano.

Lol I wasn't exactly trained in the recorder, but I had one. Does that count? :p

I played flute and piano. Still learning the violin.

Yes, Baroque music is full of recorders! In fact, recorders can be pretty expensive and come in various pitches, for example alto and bass. The professional ones are made of pricey hardwood, like grenadilla (which my clarinet is made of ;))

Many musicians only specialize in performing Baroque music and there are tracks at many conservatories that preserve this style of music performance, theory, and history.

Upright bass (7th grade)

Keyboard (I still fool around with this, fake books etc...someday I'll learn it.) :)

I played the violin in the 4th grade and in the 5th grade I changed to Cello. I played the cello until I graduated from high school. Now that I look back on playing the instrument - it wasn't that bad and besides my mother told that I couldn't quit playing the cello, so I didn't. Imagine that...

Not to toot my own but I had a recorder in elementary school and I was a beast on it. I had a solo in our class performance and everything. *toot toot*:D

But i played the Keyboard from when I was 3 to about 6 when my sister took it to college. Then again in tenth grade but my bad nephew poured koolaid in it and broke it. I have a piano but it intimidates me lol

Now I have a guitar but I can only play "Hey there Delilah"...yeah I'm poo lol

How did I never post here?

Anyway . . . piano, organ (though not very well anymore), trombone, trumpet, bass trumpet, baritone, guitar, tin whistle, and recorder (soprano and tenor). And I sing.

Angelicqt716 09-11-2009 02:52 AM

My school taught the recorder in 5th grade. Then I played clarinet 6th-12th and I marched the saxaphone my 12th grade year. Had a keyboard but no one taught me to play. I always wanted to learn the flute and oboe.

TheGeneral 09-11-2009 12:17 PM

Try playing the flute and doing this at the same time...lol

I played the tenor sax....Never learned the recorder. It was never taught at my school. Is that strange?

kommitted1973 09-20-2009 06:34 AM

I played the piano & recorder in elementary. In 6th grade I switched to the flute & played until I graduated.
