Got my first shot this morning! There's a vaccination center set up at the convention center here in New Orleans, and my husband and I were able to get appointments at the same time. We got the Pfizer shot, and we've been automatically scheduled for our second shot in 3 weeks.

It was all very efficient. I uploaded scans of my ID and insurance card ahead of time, so I wasn't asked for them when I arrived. We had to get our temperatures checked, answer a few screening questions, then we got our jabs and a few pages of information about the shot (like what side effects we might experience), then we had to wait 15 minutes in case of an adverse reaction, and off we went. (So far, no side effects, but I understand that they sometimes kick in the day after you get the shot.)

They had a very New Orleanian theme going, including urging people to "be in that number". They also gave everyone a face mask with a big smiley face. We still have a mask mandate in Louisiana, and apparently it's unclear whether vaccinated people can still carry and transmit the coronavirus, so we still have to mask up.

I'm so glad I've gotten the shot. I know I won't be fully safe until a couple of weeks after I get my second jab, but I'm on my way - I'm in that number!

Got my first Pfizer shot on Friday, 3/12. It was held at the University. There are a few sites where to get them. My 2nd shot was automatically scheduled then rescheduled for a few days later. The University site was not going to be administering shot on Good Friday. Hubby got the shot the same day. MIL was able to get the Johnson and Johnson shot at a local church.

I did get a headache for about 3 hours and a sore arm for two days. Hubby and MIL had no side effects.

The county I live is has been reported as the worse in distributions for the state. Hopefully things get better.

Anyone have any info on getting a vaccine in New York?

My bf apparently qualifies as of tomorrow (public-facing non-profit employees) but I want to know if there's a way if I can get one soon.

I understand that I'm low-priority (in my 30s, no underlying conditions, able to work from home), but I've heard of many people across the country signing up and receiving one if there are "extras" that would be thrown out if not used within a certain time frame.

I've tried searching online, but I'm having no luck.

P.S. I'm in Yonkers, Westchester County, right outside NYC.

There are "waste lists". Call your local CVS, Walgreens, Duane Reade, your primary care provider, wherever. If someone makes an appointment and is a no-show, they'll call people on the waste lists. The vaccine, once unfrozen, cannot be refrozen, so it's better to get it into someone's arm rather than throw it away. I don't know if they're doing this in New York, but they are doing it in Louisiana ... it's worth a phone call.

I get all of my vaccine info for Michigan from a Facebook group called Detroit Area Vaccine Hunters - Michigan. The people who started this group are aggregating that kind of info. I believe there are similar groups popping up- you may want to try searching Facebooks groups for something like that. Everybody I know who used the info on the Detroit one was able to get a vaccine. They knew what time appointments were released, all kinds of info.

^^^ That's what my daughter is trying to do through Meijer. Her boyfriend's mom has a pharmacist friend who will call her if they have left overs. Suddenly pharmacists are everyone's best friends.

I think it crappy that people do not cancel their COVID vaccine appointment and are a no show. They are taking away a spot from someone who truly wants to be vaccinated.

My son got an appointment at Rite Aid. He qualifies under the March 22nd eligibility. His girlfriend, who has to wait until April 5th, works with the public daily though. She should have been prioritized higher.

I got my first dose of Moderna on 03/07/21. My arm was pretty sore the day I got the shot (about a 5/10) but the next day went up to about a 7/10 and I started to feel like I was coming down with a cold. I took some Tylenol and it was smooth sailing from there! Scheduled for my second dose on 04/06/21.

I want to report that my wife had her last shot—Moderna—yesterday afternoon (3/19).
She was fine till about 9:30 p.m. and was getting tired so she turned it early. Last night was rough: chills and fever. She slept 11 hours and woke up with a headache. (Ibuprofen helped a little). She ate sparingly today and has dozed on and off.
We’re watching NCAA March Madness now and she keeps falling asleep on the sofa ��! (I resisted the temptation to take unflattering photos!)

But she says it’s a SMALL PRICE to pay; she’s grateful that I’ve shared many of your reactions with her.

I got my first Moderna shot on Friday. I had a sore upper arm (felt like I had just finished a very intense workout) for a couple days, but that was it. I hope that's all I get after the second shot!

Oh yeah, for those of you who are needlephobic like I am: I did feel the shot go in, but it wasn't too bad. My cat kneading me with his claws is much more painful! (I guess he's been toughening me up!)

Got the first Moderna vaccine the other day. I was a bit tired that evening, so I went to bed early. My arm was pretty sore that day too. I felt fine the next day and the arm soreness wore off by the afternoon. I think not babying my arm helped, possibly. I played basketball with my son, and my arm felt completely better within an hour or two.

Had both, no side effects. I look forward to being able to eat in restaurants again.

My family has chosen not to go inside until we're vaccinated. We've been doing curbside and a lot of home cooking. Meanwhile, our restaurants are packed.
