Might want to keep that one quiet given the investigations et al going on at the moment.

Quite a mess the Zoomies have gotten themselves into.

That the NCAA gave U of L at Monroe a THREE touchdown lead to start their game against LSU tonight

Unfortunately, I *think* this one might be true...can't find any info either way

That we are the AIDS capital of the U.S.

Because I have nothing better to do and I don't want to work:

At Iowa State:

* If you walk around Lake LaVerne (small man-made pond by our Memorial Union) three times holding hands with your sweetie and don't talk, you'll be together forever.
* A brick will fall if you kiss a virgin under the Campanile at midnight (hmmm, nothing fallen yet) and you're not officially an ISU stuent until you go campaniling
* If you walk on the Zodiac on the north entrance to the MU, you'll fail your next exam, but you can counteract it by throwing a penny in the Fountain of the Four Seasons. Funny, though, the designer actually wanted students to walk over it to wear down the brass design.
* Supposedly, before VEISHEA went dry, it was the largest amount of alcohol consumed in a single weekend.
* The Kappa house had a resident ghost--Annie. She would cause electronics to turn off and on, doors to open and shut and books to fall or mysteriously be moved. If you told her to knock it off, though, she would. Before we purchased our house, it was supposedly a funeral home (not sure abot this) and a Baptist Student center (it was, the church is still up the street) and she died in it in the 1920s.
* The Phi Delt house (which was formerly the APhi house) used to be a church. Nothing scary, but it is a little strange to see where the altar and things used to be in their living room.

That's all I can think of right now. . .

Some more IU rumors:

-If a virgin graduates from IU, the fish in Showalter Fountain will swim away.

-The main library is sinking.

-Ballantine Hall is shaped like a toothbrush because it was paid for by Procter & Gamble (they bought the rights to Crest toothpaste, invented at IU).

-You are not a true IU coed until you are kissed at the stroke of midnight at the Well House.

-The third floor bathroom of Ballantine Hall is a big cruising spot for gays.

-If your roommate dies during the school year, you get a 4.0 GPA.

Some University of Miami (FL) rumors:
-one of the sororities that got in trouble for hazing supposedly at one point made girls swallow goldfish to "earn their gold."
-one of the frats had half of their pledges (8- originally had 16 pledges) drop on their first day of pledging this past semester because they made them do lines of coke.
-the palm trees on campus cost $30,000 (approx. one student's tuition)
-the fake palm trees in the Wellness Center where I work cost $20,000 each (there are 4 of them in the atrium inside).
-there's an alligator in our lake on campus (this is actually true, I've seen it... but for a long time, no one knew).
-this one kid (who was a Kappa Sigma pledge in 2001) drowned in the lake while swimming in it during a hurricane and while drunk... that's all true, but some have said that one of the reasons he drowned was because one of the filters at the bottom had suction and pulled him under.

Oh, and this isn't my school, but I heard that 3 out of 4 students at FSU have an STD. I doubt that's true though :)

The Eastern Michigan "virgin" rumor... There is a large water tower which is pretty phallic right across from campus. If a virgin ever graduates, it is supposed to crumble.

There are some rumors of hauntings too, in the oldest building on campus (Starkweather Hall) particularly. I volunteered in that building for a while though and never saw any ghosts.. just some bats!

my school:

supposedly has the highest percentage of homosexual students.

supposedly has a haunted theater as well...there was a fire one night and some of the slaves that were seated in the upper balcony couldn't get out. now, if you're ever the last one to leave the stage you have to wave to the balcony before you leave or they get mad.

is supposedly the 4th most UN-diverse school in the country...or something.

is way over-priced. (that one's NOT a rumor. our tuition is crazy.)

also, administration LOVES to tell incoming freshman about our famous alumni (jay leno, henry winkler, etc) but they don't tell you that they both dropped out and never graduated. (henry winkler, however, is a HUGE beneficiary of the school and is actually a really cool guy. and- he's a greek. he was a member of a local fraternity on our campus.)

other famous alumni: Kevin Bright and Max Mutchnick (emmy award winning producers of "Friends")
Mario Cantone ("Sex & The City)
Dorothy Aufiero (producer of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy")
Scott Whitman (co-wrote the lyrics to the broadway show "Hairspray")

rumored (some are proven) to be in attendance right now:
mark summers' daughter
steven spielberg's son
chevvy chase's daughter
CEO of MTV's son
christopher sarandon's daughter

what a school.

Mississippi State rumors:

If you touch the statue of General Lee (not Robert E. but Stephen D. our University's first President) in the middle of the drill field, you will make an A. Worked in Gen. Chem. for me!!!!

Some say that the Pike house is haunted, because someone fell off the roof. Ditto for the old infirmary, because 19 students died there of typhoid fever. It is creepy!

And now Some true info!!!:

A magazine (maybe Sports Illustrated???) named Starkville as the nation's WORST college town! This was recently! Gee, I'm so proud!!

It will be helpful if we know what school we're talking about here ... :)
