congrats to the ladies of zeta phi beta sorority, inc.

Like I said stepping is about talent and not about yelling. However, if you feel your Sorors stepped better that's your opinion in which you are entitled. But in my opinion it should have been based on talent. That way the most talented step team would have won...DST!!!

See L.S.....I love u 2..2..much! :-) Everyone knew how the voting was to go before we got to the competition. Point blank, the Audience(which consisted mostly of GDIs) felt the Best Team won. No need to be mad or ruffle feathers about it. All 3 teams are to be commended for their performance. I have been to shows were I felt that the Zetas were going to win and they didn't...but that's life, you win some and you lose some...move on and learn from your experience...

The Best Step teams?

I don't even think the best step teams were even represented for ANY of the organizations. I know for at least 5 of them. But some of the teams that were shown were the best I had ever seen. (IMO)

Booooooo! to BET. Remember, this is Sweeps month. Folks need ratings.

I agree with a post OA made I think in the Sigma's forum. Each organization should have their own step-off and from there, do a national competition of all the organizations. With a panel of independent judges deciding the winners.

PrettyKitty 05-09-2002 02:54 PM

Well we are ALL entitled to our opinions...but newayZ, I would suggest that you address your concerns with BET as we did. Questions were raised about how the show was to be judged as well the lack of focus on the programmatic thrusts of our organizations. I, personally, don't have an issue with each organization having a step off then having the team represent their organization...but what we got is what we got. Can't cry over spilt milk now...all you can do it affect change for the next time around, if there is to be one...

ChocolateKiss3000 05-09-2002 03:57 PM

Ya'll were robbed!!!

I watched all of the "step shows" (although I call them "step tease") and I want to say that the Delta's should have won. And if I'm not miskaten didnt the Zetas do that same "precise" step for the first round??? I aint tryin to dogg anyone just goin by what I see. I have them all on tape. But the Deltas were waaaaaaaaaaaay better than anyone on the show.

DoggyStyle82 05-10-2002 12:15 AM

I refuse to believe that there were 3x as many Deltas in the audience as Zetas and a supposed unbiased crowd thought that the Zetas were even that much better than the Rhos, much less DST. That was far from an appropriate method to judge a contest. But so be it. Those are the rules. Congrats to the Zetas.

Instead of making assumptions based upon who you think was in the audience, it is always better to check with those who were in attendance. And since several people who were in attendance(self included) have spoken in regards to that and have said pratically the same thing, then why ass u me otherwise? However, in regards to your opinion about the show and anyone else's...we are all entitled to it...but the crowd make-up is factual information. Still luv ya though!

Why is it hard to believe?

Its well documented that dst has the largest number of initiated members in the NPHC and they also knew they were in the finals for an entire week before the show aired. Clearly they had time to rally the troops. The Zetas and SGRhos did not find out they were stepping until the day before/day of the show. So naturally they did not have the same amount of time to gather member support.

I was at the step off too. I was one of the 5 Zetas present in the audience. I can even tell you where the Deltas were from...they were from Binghampton, Rho chapter and the other chapter in the city. If the majority...and I do mean MAJORITY of the crowd was not Greek or Greek affiliated, would you not call them "unbiased". They had nothing to gain from any of the teams. There was no prize...just bragging rights.

ALL teams knew the finals were going to be judged "apollo style". The choice that was made was made by the people...and included in those "people" were fellow Greeks. The crowd in the studio, I heard cheering were cheering amazingly loud for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority's victory. What you heard on television, I do not know.

However, what I find distrubing is I am reading a lot of bad sport remarks on this subject. You have to take the wins with the losses. This time the Zetas WON. The proper thing to do, would be to say congratulations. Afterall, its all still D9. And it should all still be love. If you want to "woof", you talk about seeing the team NEXT year. IE...DELTAS, SGRHOS, AND AKAS...YOU BETTA BRING IT NEXT YEAR, BECAUSE THE ZETAS ARE HOLDING ONTO THIS TITLE!!!! Now of course the problem with woofing is what happens if the team you are rooting for does not win? Well, you of course are subjected to being clowned. The point is...its speculative...and no harm or foul is done.

To speak on this subject in the context of ANY of the teams being inferior when the decision has been made is BAD FORM. Thank you for your indulgence. Please continue with your regularly scheduled conversation. Peace!

well

I am so mad that I haven't seen the Delta team step yet, I did see the Rhos and Zetas step in the final round though.

But why for some reason that if we had won, I know somebody would of had something to say about it, so why can't we?

And if I would have been in the audience, I would of been telling them kids "Hey, yell for the Deltas at the end, mkay?" to make more noise, ya feel me?

Let me hush up before Theo14 starts another thread called "These fake greeks part 2"

So I guess now you are implying that we asked all of kids in the audience to yell and scream for us....HA! Shaunda you know I love u like the PGU sister you are to me :) , but please be for real. The Deltas and SGRhos lost, Zetas won, the mostly non-greek crowd decided who they felt should win...end of story...better luck next year.

And you know I love your PGU self also(on the real tip)

Maybe we'll have better luck next time if the voting is done RIGHT like someone suggested(the D9 having judges).

And so what if you DID tell some kids to yell for you?? It would have been smart to do since you said there were only 5 Zetas and about a zillion Delta's. I don't see nothing wrong with that!

That's pure speculation. But, I did notice here on the Greek chat boards no one said anything nasty regarding your win against the akas. Maybe, I missed it...but, I don't recall seeing anything derogatory. And even when the Sigma Gamma Rho's thought they loss,(the results of that show was a tie) they were still gracious.

For all who may feel still feel bitter by the whole BET program,
let's revisit my favorite past time as a child...the dictionary.
sports·man·ship Pronunciation Key (spôrtsmn-shp, sprts-)
n.
The fact or practice of participating in sports, game or competition.
Conduct and attitude considered as befitting participants in sports, especially fair play, courtesy, striving spirit, and grace in losing.

On your comment about swaying the audience...lol...I will keep my comment to myself.

CrimsonTide4 05-10-2002 01:36 PM

The End

Thank you Jesus the step off is over. Now peace and life can be restored.

The Zetas and the Sigmas won the step show. Now they have 2 things that the rest of the orgs don't have -- a constitutional bond and a BET STEP OFF VICTORY.

:o    :p
