Based on things I've read on the Internet, this is a good time to remind people that the Supreme Court didn't rule that employers can forbid employees from using birth control. The ruling is that employers are not required to cover birth control under the company insurance.
Hobby Lobby was opposed to morning after pills, diaphragms, and IUDs. Does the Supreme Court ruling mean companies can choose whether and which birth control methods to cover? It sucks and I hope people are familiar with Planned Parenthood. This is part of the price people pay if they work for certain employers that pride themselves with being rooted in conservative religious ideals (regardless of the religion). |

It'll be interesting to see what kind of implications this decision will have. |

I'm a fan of ending the connection between employers and health insurance coverage. I don't have to get car insurance or homeowner's insurance through my employer - why is health insurance different? |
Time to vote with your pocketbook. If you don't believe in HL's practices, don't just not go there...find out who their biggest suppliers are and don't buy from them anywhere. And make sure they know that's why you're making that decision.

This ruling was also very narrow and stated that "closely held family businesses" couldn't be compelled to go against their religious beliefs. This doesn't open the floodgates for every company to refuse coverage for those forms of birth control. This is a disappointing but predictable outcome considering the makeup of the court.

I started voting with my wallet some time ago.
Personally I am getting really sick of the control of Christianity in our lives but there's no point in screaming about it. The religious right has won and they will continue to control more and more of our lives. |

Please don't paint all Christians with the same brush. Most of them find HL's practices as repugnant as you do. As with most things, the vocal minority overrides the voice of the silent majority. |
If you want to see how these people think, check out the documentary "Jesus Camp."

Has anyone made it over to Hobby Lobby's Facebook page today? A whole lot of people are commenting on the case and letting HL know exactly how they feel about it...

I think Fresh Air with Terry Gross also discussed it but I cannot find the show link. I never heard of Hobby Lobby before this birth control stuff began. So blah to them. Quote:
As for the USA, Christianity shouldn't have control over everyone's life. I'm saying that as a Christian who wants Christians to leave me the hell alone unless I am specifically seeking Christian fellowship. |

See, and people totally misunderstand Plan B too. 99% of the time, it works by preventing ovulation. RARELY it works by preventing implantation. And ditto with the IUD with hormones. If they understood Biology... ARGGGGGG.
