Chacos are mandatory. Do not substitute another brand for Chacos.

What do they wear/what do you consider guys "dressing up"? I wouldn't expect them to wear a suit or sport jacket or anything - just not dirty sweats and t-shirts.

I've seen pics of dates with a golf polo and khaki shorts next their honeys dressed to the nines (ans seen it at restaurants in town), that is the stark yin/yang contrast I've noted. Hell this trend has even been blogged in the past by Gawker, so it's all over the country, not just here. Some men don't think that we are worth it. Those man-boys are vastly mistaken, just wish all our NPC collegians knew their self worth!

So I went looking on Google and found an article that sounds like I wrote it once you've read the above. Sadly it doesn't have any pictorial examples of the poorly dressed men. http://restaurantrefugee.com/2008/07...tolerate-them/

A 30 year old man dressed like that at a nice restaurant?! Dude, it's time to grow up! My husband would rather die than dress like that. He prides himself on his very nice wardrobe with his up to date print button down shirts, slim cut pants, well tailored jackets and shoes made for adult men. He turned 31 in December and wouldn't be caught in a pair of khaki shorts unless we were strolling at an outdoor festival drinking a beer!

That's what I fail to understand about the "dressing up for football games" thing. Women are dressed up in heels and a dress and the guy has a polo and jeans on.

Must have been one of the reasons you thought he was a keeper. :D

Nike shorts and shoes? Really? That just seems like so...the opposite of Southern propriety to me.

Spell check would have been nice too. Just sayin'.

Although I did literally LOL at this: "I suggest you pretend you are interested in the skits, even if they suck."

Growing up in the 90s I (along with all my classmates) was wearing Soffe Brand shorts. They were nylon and they came in every color in the spectrum. I had a pair in every color. I wanted to wear them everywhere, but I eventually learned they weren't appropriate to wear everywhere. Especially when I wanted to make a good impression. Places like college classes and RECRUITMENT!

Well, I would like to see her "black and white summer dress" before I made a decision. Lots of times guys think we are more dressed up than we really are, when actually a dress is super comfy and a lot easier to wear than pants. I had a "summer dress" I wore often to the grubbiest bar in town. That was because it was easy-care and a lot cooler temperature-wise than pants or shorts.

Seriously, my comment wasn't that the guys are being rude, it's that the girls are being egregiously stupid. They shouldn't expect the guys to dress up...the guys are actually the quite sensible ones in this scenario. It must be nice to be a college student and have $$ for dry cleaners, high-end makeup and $200 shoes and purses (don't get me started on purses) that it's OK if they get beer spilled on them. I just don't get it. Put on jeans or a skirt from Target and a cute top. Life is not a Hollywood premiere.

Only too true, 33girl.

I have got to admit, the Nike shorts at recruitment sort put me off. Now, I feel that for at least one round it is a great idea. The pnm and collegians are both comfy. Plus, I have always felt there was a bit of "false advertising" with the way the women dress in recruitment. All four rounds they are all dolled up then the day after bid day you never see them in anything but Nike shorts and t-shirts unless they are headed out on the town!
