Xanthus- I hope the everything works out for you. Life totally sucks an throws major curveballs at us, but we just have to work through them.

Not that I want to start an "uprising", but seriously why are people being so quick to judge someone who say's "yeah I had sex with a girl that I know well, but we aren't in a relationship together, and we didn't use a condom". Hello shit like that happens every single frickin day. I'm sure half the people on greek chat have had those 'stupid" moments where they didn't have "protected" sex.

Yeah it was stupid. The OP already admitted to that much. But I highly doubt every single person out there who is sexually active can state that they never got caught up in the moment and forgot protection. If so, someone is lying because there wouldn't be so many unplanned pregnancies in the world would there. (See Maury who is constantly have paternity episodes)

I'll speak for myself, but I personally don't think I was being judgmental in the least bit.

That really IS how people get AIDS. I don't that that's judgment. I was just stating fact.

I'm one of those people who has a hard time understanding why people continue to put themselves at risk for disease in this day and age (most of us grew up hearing about AIDS and such pretty regularly).

Also: you open yourself up for anything when you post personal info and such on the interwebz. That's life.

We all get that you are stating a fact, but you have beating it like a dead horse. Almost all your posts in this thread have been the "stating" your fact. We understand. Move on.

Plus, the thread, albeit personal, has absolutely nothing to do with AIDS, it has to do with an unplanned pregnancy.

I'm probably older than you, and I did grow up hearing about AIDS daily, but I've also heard about unplanned pregnancies daily as well. Shit happens! People make stupid mistakes and suffer consequences for them.

As I said earlier, the OP has fessed up to his stupid mistake. He doesn't need continued "holier than thou" chastizing from you just because you can do it. I don't care that you claim "he opened himself up to it".

I'm sure I'll get crap from you, but oh wait by making the comments (on a public forum like he did) that you made, you "opened yourself up to it". Hmm, ironic isn't it. Just like I "opened myself up to it" by making the comments that I am making. It doesn't mean I deserve "chastizing" and "holier than thou" attitudes.

My opinion. Take it or leave it. End of my discussion on this thread.

Um, what?

Several people have posted much harsher criticisms than anything I've said.

I post 2 times (possibly 3) in a thread and suddenly I am "holier than thou" and a chastiser.

I'm really unsure what brought this about but you need to relax and take a pill because it's not that serious.

Weird.

When people have this attitude and do a thread-flounce, it makes me wonder why they didn't shut up in the first place and let the dying thread die.

Speaking of irony.

Thank you thank you thank you.

I know I'm not helping it die by posting.. but I felt that line needed quoting.

We don't have to help it die. :D We aren't the ones acting like we've SAID WHAT WE NEED TO SAY AND ARE DONE DISCUSSING IT AS OF RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!

Well, this thread has all the classic signs of a "thread that just won't die":

1) An initial poster who maybe said a bit too much;

2) A couple of posters who give good, productive advice;

3) A few posters shouting down from ivory towers (Sidenote: unprotected sex happens out there...a lot more than some of you seem to think);

4) The requisite "I'm just being honest, so you can't criticize me for it!" posts.

5) A troll (ironically, "Troll Buster") entering the conversation.

Yeah, this is turning into a real gem of a thread.

I think it's more along the lines of "more than some of you would admit" for many people.

It's kind of like when people become a born again (insert religion) and they climb the ivory tower against the things they used to do.

The difference is that a lot of people perhaps do dumb things when they are younger and behind closed doors, so they have no reason to share the info with strangers.

I'd agree with that - and I totally get the "wisdom of experience" side of things. And, if I were in the original poster's position, the last thing I would do would be to post on a public message board.

But, to me, some of the posts in this thread seem out of touch with reality. I say that even as an "old married guy" :) .

Yeah, this is turning into a real gem of a thread.

It's one for the ages, that's for sure.

I honestly didn't mean to come across as being judgemental, so I apologize to anyone who felt that I was being judgy-judgy.

Ya know, that was one of my my favorite songs when I was little. I prefer Whitney Houston at the moment, but it's still a good one. ;)
