EE-BO 09-09-2008 08:52 PM

Thanks Benzgirl- I feel better now. I napped this afternoon too and was too tired to go work out once I woke up.

It's all good- we'll make up for it tomorrow!

EE-BO 09-10-2008 09:27 PM

60 laps today- a new personal record for a single swim routine, and most of it sprint work. Came home and after some beef fajitas and about a one pound piece of baked salmon I took a long nap. Feeling good now, but still hungry...

VandalSquirrel 09-10-2008 09:28 PM

Played golf, without a golf cart. 18 holes baby.

Carrying the bag and walking counts as exercise even more so since we can't drink on the course :(

EE-BO 09-11-2008 07:08 PM

45 minutes of racquetball followed by a 45 minute full body workout.

Scandia 09-11-2008 07:32 PM

Yoga in the morning and Body Combat in the afternoon. Yup, in spite of my neck injury.

LucyKKG 09-12-2008 03:59 AM

We did a ton of core training which I know I'm gonna feel tomorrow then I ran. I think I ran about 2.5 miles. 6 miles coming up this Saturday! Oof!

EE-BO 09-12-2008 08:56 PM

50 laps of short distance work including some killer butterfly and backstroke. I am feeling seriously sore tonight!

LucyKKG 09-13-2008 01:17 PM

I ran 6 miles this morning! Now I'm hanging out in my PJs til I need to get ready for work. Yeahhh!

ADqtPiMel 09-13-2008 01:26 PM

I'm supposed to run a half marathon tomorrow but it's supposed to be close to 100 degrees and humid in the DC area :( I likely won't end up running since I have a history of fainting in heat.

That pretty much describes what the weather is like everyday here. I have to say it has helped with my endurance, though I doubt I could run a half marathon in the heat/humidity.

Will be running 5 mile loop tonight.

christiangirl 09-13-2008 05:45 PM

I did two hours of ballroom dancing. :)

I'm a delicate flower (ok, a wuss) who moves to the treadmill anytime it gets over 75 degrees. I ran a 5k under similar conditions in June and a) it took me nearly 27 minutes and b) I'm not sure I could have kept going for 10 more miles.

pbear19 09-14-2008 08:37 AM

Well, thanks to Ike I am not running the Lewis & Clark half marathon right now. 75 minutes after I left my house I was still in a line of hundreds of cars trying to get to the start. Once the start time came and went, I pulled out of line and came home. It took me less than 30 minutes to get home, even considering how slow I was driving!

Oh well. Who wants to run 13.1 miles while getting 3+ inches of rain dropped on you with the risk of flash flooding, right?

EE-BO 09-14-2008 08:09 PM

Sorry bout that pbear- it is really odd to imagine a hurricane affecting St. Louis!

52 laps today- 50 of them non-stop at a good fast pace followed by a 100m butterfly set.

To the other swimmers- what do you do when you swallow air on long distance swims. Today my stomach swelled until I was very uncomfortable and it is only now- an hour later- that I am finally burping and getting back to normal. There has to be a way to deal with this right after a swim.

Well, I did it -- but it was pretty dang miserable. Record heat and high humidity. Yuck.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You got through it, and that is an incredible accomplishment in those kinds of conditions. Good for you. :) Hope you had a nice post-race treat for yourself!

I know! The race directors ended up stopping the race early, so it's just as well I didn't get there in time. Although I would have gotten the medal at least. I don't know if it was the 10 mile mark for the leaders, or the 10 mile mark for the friend of a friend, but from what I understand it was called before anyone finished the full (although there may have been 1/2 marathon finishers, I'm not positive about that).

I saw somewhere online this morning that Ike was considered a tropical depression - while it was dumping rain on St. Louis. That made me chuckle, a tropical anything in the middle of the country! By the afternoon it was gorgeous and sunny here, it moved through that quickly. There was a lot of road flooding, and the race was right by a river in bottom lands, so my guess is they had to stop it early because of flooding, rather than the deluge of rain still coming down.

I have been working out on the elliptical for 30 minutes at a time recently. I always do the aerobics trainer program, and I end up going 2.5 miles and burning 400 calories in one workout. Last week, I did this for 5 days in a row and stopped snacking in between meals. As a result, I have lost a complete dress size in the past week :)

christiangirl 09-14-2008 11:34 PM

^^^Wooow. That's AWESOME! Me next, me next!

I had skating practice for an hour today. Tomorrow, I'm determined to get re-acquainted with Mr. Elliptical.

LucyKKG 09-15-2008 01:50 AM

Ahhhh I'm so sore after that core training (still) and my run yesterday. Ouchies!

lillady85 09-15-2008 02:41 AM

Went for a bike ride. I'll do cardio for an hour then meet with my oh-so-hot trainer.

Good for you! I wish I could run a half marathon. I am training for my first one in January. I just can't seem to get past 7 miles. I get bored.

Ran 3 miles last night then sprints with trainer this AM.

EE-BO 09-15-2008 09:29 PM

30 minutes of racquetball (not so good) followed by an hour of heavy lifting in the weight room (very good!)

aephi alum 09-15-2008 09:52 PM

Stationary bike + weights. Home gym = no excuses.

EE-BO 09-16-2008 06:45 PM

2 mile run. Awesome weather today- yesterday and today it finally is starting to feel like fall is coming.

ThetaDancer 09-16-2008 10:19 PM

My very first advanced pilates class. I'll be feeling this one tomorrow.

Also, looking for advice...over the summer I was able to work out nearly every day and became the most toned I've ever been. With grad school starting up again, I haven't had nearly as much time. Does anyone have any advice for maintenance and staying toned with workouts only a few days a week?

starang21 09-16-2008 11:27 PM

ran 2.3 miles

EE-BO 09-17-2008 05:44 PM

60 laps. Toward the end of practice we did 30 x 50m with about 5 seconds rest between each. Very intense, but very cool.

kchaptergphib 09-18-2008 03:55 AM

Ran my regular neighborhood loop with my dog. It takes me up Sheridan Road (right near Lake Michigan), then across on Addison, past Wrigley Field, down and around and back to my apartment. When I jog it, I do feel really lucky to live in Chicago and get to jog past awesome things like the Lake and Wrigley.
I'm not really sure how long the loop is, but it takes me about 50 minutes.

christiangirl 09-18-2008 04:33 AM

I had my first yoga class today. :) Totally awesome. Then, I tried to run on the treadmill, but I broke out in hives. I thought I could get away with it, but I know that I break out when I run. Sucks. :(

EE-BO 09-18-2008 09:40 PM

45 minutes of racquetball followed by a 45 minute full body burnout workout.

kchaptergphib- it has been a few years since I was in Chicago but as I remember there are several nice spots on the lake to run- some the nicest I have seen anywhere. I could never move from Texas, but Chicago is really awesome- probably my favorite city outside of Austin.

catiebug 09-18-2008 11:29 PM

I had my first Irish dance class.

DoctorD 09-18-2008 11:33 PM

Body Flow - and that was about it.

Fighting a migraine, so the fact that I got that in is impressive in my world!

Have been having a hard time exercising as much as I would like with my new work schedule. Frustrated by that.

LucyKKG 09-19-2008 01:40 PM

I ran 3 miles. I decided I can't run with my iPod cause it messes up my body's natural rhythm. Hmph!

Little32 09-19-2008 08:29 PM

Walked about 4 miles.

Benzgirl 09-19-2008 08:40 PM

First day in the gym since vacation. I was dead tired. Threw out my back sleeping on the couch so workout was very limited. Did about 20 minutes of lifting and 40 on the cycle. I'm done!

EE-BO 09-19-2008 10:08 PM

I got so busy today I had to miss swim team, but I just had to post the one bit of good news- as of this morning 60.5 pounds lost. A new milestone!

And I will make up for today in the pool tomorrow.

That's awesome, congrats. As someone who lost a decent amount of weight (about 30-40 pounds) twice in my life, I understand how it takes a lot of effort.

Unfortunately, my current schedule (law school plus 50-60 hours of work per week) has killed me workout wise. If I can get in any physical activity I consider it a victory.

ThetaPrincess24 09-20-2008 07:55 AM

I'm cleaning my house and cleaning our carpets because we are having people over for a poker party tonight.

lovespink88 09-20-2008 05:27 PM

as much as i don't want to work out, i'll know i'll feel guilty if i don't do anything... i'm forcing myself to go for a nice long walk now! at least it's something...

VandalSquirrel 09-20-2008 06:37 PM

Hour of yoga, 35 minutes on the treadmill.

I'm cleaning out the garage tonight, which counts.
