I finally got around to seeing the movie. Meh. I think most of the acting was poor. I couldn't help but look at Esme and think, "That's not your real face- that's the face Kerev and McSteamy gave you." And I think most of the time Cedrick-I mean Edward- looked like he was constipated. I mean, are you trying not to kill Bella or are you having problems pooping? Cause it looks the same to me.
Once again, the book was much better. |
You can tell it was rushed, especially the development of Edward and Bella's relationship. There was not enough Jacob. They need to do better with New Moon.

No, she's not, according to ew.com.

I don't know if New Moon will be much better. Filming started this month, and the movie comes out in November. That won't stop me from seeing it though. :D

You know - the more times I watch the movie, the more I realize what a terrible actress Kristen Stewart is. There are a few times (first to come to mind is when Edward tells her in the hospital that she needs to live with her mom in Florida) where she does nothing but stutter. While I think that stuttering is perfectly in line with the character the book paints, she mentions on her commentary that it's not how she meant it to come out, and she just couldn't think of anything to say.
There are also some really awkward camera angles that are either there because they want the audience to feel awkward (which is possible), or the cameramen were just not good. |
I just finished the host. If I were her editor, that book would have been 300 pages. And her characters need to stop grinding their teeth so damn much!

I can't wait till New Moon comes out, even though I was pissed through most of the book because of how pathetic she becomes. And I did fall in love with Jacob then. I can't wait to see what Taylor looks like in that movie! |

Blah. I wanted a hard copy of Midnight Sun to read only to find out that since they're copyrighted, I can't get them. Boo! Oh well. :( |
i just got a kindle and decided to download the entire series (i bought the hard copy of #1 but never had the chance to sit and read it).
on SM's website she provides a link to the draft of midnight sun. i downloaded it from her site but feel bad about it being leaked b4 she could complete it. |
I just read midnight sun today and I'm very disappointed that she isnt going to finish it. I know she should be upset by the leak but dont throw such a huge hissy, I want to know the rest.
even though I feel so childish being into twilight I was secretly team jacob but I think that Midnight Sun made me move towards Edward. I never really got his apeal, or his attraction to Bella (who I really dislike) but Midnight Sun made me really like him and I wish Stephanie Meyer would just finish, but I guess I'm just greedy. At least I get to see Taylor Lautner shirtless in the New Moon movie ;) |
I'm glad someone linked this thread because I thought about it the other day but was too lazy to get online & look for it. There was an actress I pictured as Rosalie, but couldn't remember her name until I saw the trailer for Dear John earlier this week.

^^ I think she is forever imprinted in my head as "the dumb one" from Mean Girls, so I don't think she would have worked for me.
I guess I kinda like Nikki Reed in the role - she's pretty, but she's an "evil pretty" - or maybe that's just because she plays it well. |
BUMP for Eclipse! Anyone see it last night at midnight?
|
I did! I thought it was the best movie so far. My boyfriend was even entertained (mostly because of the wolves).
Its been a couple years since I read the book but seeing the movie last night reminded me of how frustrating I found the whole Bella-Jacob-Edward love triangle to be. I liked how they did the backstories, especially Jasper's (loved his southern drawl!). |
I will probably go see it this weekend, so if any of you post any spoilers before then, the 13 year old in me with kick your tails. KTHXBI
|
^^^ditto!!!
|
Seeing it at 9:15 Monday morning with my two sisters (one of which did go to the midnight showing and graciously agreed to go see it again :))
Looking forward to it! :) |

I did not care for the movie. From what I can tell, I'm in the minority because of that. This kind of surprised me, but we'll see what happens as more people go and see it.
I hated the beginning. Kristen Stewart's acting seems to be getting worse, not better. She has literally two faces that she uses, and most of the time I feel that she just seems dull and lifeless and just there behind the camera. Maybe that's why I like the books better, because in them you can read everything that she's thinking, which is, at times, interesting and reveals a lot about her character. The other reason why I hated the beginning is that I don't like movies that differ much from the books. Call me a purist, but it's just that when I have a mental picture of what a scene's going to look like and it either doesn't happen, doesn't happen in the right sequence, or is changed completely, I get a little miffed. I don't even like the books all that much (Stephanie Meyer is, I think, a pretty average writer and her books are kind of one-note) but I don't like the changed movie representations all that much better. However, to not be a complete Debbie Downer I did really like the ending. They kept true to SOME of the more important scenes, IMHO, which I liked. I also don't really like Robert Pattison's acting in the series, but that's another post entirely. Maybe I just don't like the character of Edward, haha, that could have something to do with it. Nonetheless I did really like the wolves (how could you not?) and I felt that Taylor Lautner did a good job. He's not a fantastic actor but I feel that the character of Jacob probably isn't too much of a stretch for him, so he does a good job. I also like that the movie moved along, there was only one part when I started to get a little bored. All in all I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10. Not bad, but not my favorite. I am excited for Breaking Dawn though. I liked that book the best I think (most people said they liked Twilight the best but I saw the movie first so it kind of ruined the surprise for me), and I'm excited about how it will be represented on screen. Luckily, none of us have very long to wait, haha. (Hijack) Also, seeing the new HP trailer of the big screen looked amazing, and I CANNOT WAIT for July 2011. For me this series really was life shaping, as I read my first book at age 10, graduated HS the same year that the 7th book came out, and am now likely going to be graduated or very nearly so when the 7th movie comes out. I. am. so. pumped! (/Hijack/) |
*There were a few minor inaccuracies/sequential changes from the book. Nothing major though, so it didn't bother me.
*I was disappointed that Summit cut the Angela/Bella graduation announcements scene. Oh well, it will be on the DVD. *I don't like the new hairstylist/whoever picked out the wigs for the Cullens (same as New Moon). Alice, Jasper, Esme, and Carlisle looked so much better in Twilight. *I loved the "fire and ice" scene in the tent. *I liked the backstories on Rosalie and Jasper, but I felt like Rosalie and Bella built more of a rapport in the book. It still seemed like Rosalie was cold to her in the movie. I was a little bummed that the other backstories were cut. *It's really a shame that Summit fired Rachelle LeFevre. I really would have liked to see her finish the role as Victoria. Dallas Bryce-Howard just doesn't look evil enough. I am not one of those "books are always better than movies" types. I think books go into more detail, and movies bring them to life, so my perception of the story is a mesh of the two. |

Dear makers of Twilight, you suck. I want my 2 hours back. The end.
|
Got my tickets for 9:35 Saturday night. We have a theater here that does reserved seating, which is awesome - no standing in line, and you don't have to get there early to get a good seat.
|
The movie was really good IMO. The only disappointing parts to me were that they did not do very well with Bree's character in the movie. In the book, she is wild and barely able to contain herself when she is near Bella and she is not similar at all in the movie. I think the movie stuck to the storyline really well. Jasper and Rosalie's stories were good scenes. I'd give it an 8 out of 10.
HP looks awesome! I am so excited about seeing it! |

My friend posted a photo that made me LOL:
"I'm on Team 'Shut-the-hell-up-I'm-trying-to-watch-the-movie'." :p |
Saw it last night and thought it was the best of the three. However, I had major issues with the hairstylist to the talent - especially what was done to poor Jasper. His hair looked like a sheepdog and a dirty mop mated and its offspring decided to live on the top of his head, then a stylist whacked out on crystal meth highlighted it. Carlisle's hair was banana yellow, Esme's looked like a trainwreck, they forgot to dye Rosalie's eyebrows and Jane's eyebrows were desperately in need of a set of tweezers. Bleah.

Next movie = please fire hairdresser.
Other than that, entertaining. Question for next movie, will Bella's wedding dress be made of flannel plaid, and will Jacob wear a shirt? |
I was surprisingly "meh" about the movie. I was kind of "meh" about this book in the series, too. It kind of felt like "ok, now I have to get the plot from the end of New Moon to the beginning of Breaking Dawn, so let's throw in a bunch of random stuff."
I really wish they would have had the line in the tent about Edward telling Jacob that if it were him in the sleeping bag with Bella, it still wouldn't make the top 10 best nights of his life. It's been awhile since I read the book, but I don't think the book implied that the Volturi (or at least Jane and Felix) knew that the newborn army was after Bella and was going to let it happen. Was it really necessary to add that? I know Jasper is from the South and we learn about that more in this movie, but his accent was weird for me - one because I felt like he sounded more mentally handicapped than Southern, and two because he didn't have an accent in the first two movies (not that he spoke MUCH). Ditto on what everyone else said on the terrible hair as well. Note for books and movie: I wish we knew something more about Emmett. Carlisle was the first of the Cullens and lived with the Volturi, Edward was second and was in a hospital dying, Esme jumped off a cliff, Alice wasn't made by Carlisle, and was in a mental institution, Rose and Jasper had detailed backstories in this book/movie, but I don't think we know ANYTHING about Emmett, do we? (Once again, it's been a little while since I read the series. I could be wrong.) |
