Hey there Sistergreek,
I'm sorry to hear of your aunt's passing.
One of my aunts passed away less than 9 months ago herself.
I just spoke to MS tonight and last night and I asked about DJ.
You stay strong too.

nikki1920 12-07-2007 06:52 PM

Please pray for me. I am going through some rough times financially and personally and just need some general prayer for strength. Thank you.

Asking for your prayers....

Good morning memberfriends and sisterfriends,

I wanted to ask you all for your prayers. My dear friend is a member of a graduate chapter in Petersburg, VA, and her son is currently hospitalized. All that I know is that he has fluid on his brain from a sinus infection and had to be hospitalized yesterday. I am very worried for him and for her, and since she is like a sister to me, I wanted to come and ask her Sisters to help me lift her and her son up in prayer. I will keep you all updated.

Thank you!

Oh my, aneurysms are no joke. Be thankful at this point she made it to surgery. One of my chapter sorors had the same thing happen to her and they got her to the hospital on time. She is now doing great.

jitterbug13 12-19-2007 11:32 AM

^^^^
Thanks! That gives me hope, soror. She got out of surgery this morning and while operating, another vesel burst. The doctors were able to fix that as well. Right now it's wait and see until she's off the medication.

Also pray to give my cousin (her daughter) strengh. She just had twins in April and now this.

And repeat that for me. All this year I've felt this way. 2008 just has to be better.

ljkelly 12-20-2007 02:15 PM

I need some prayer as well. First, my grandmother is sick and my family is crazy. Second, I am looking for a new car (I am very anal about this) & I can't find it and third, I need a financial blessing asap. In Jesus Name.

Hey All,

I saw this and wanted to share...go before the Lord with a grateful heart and HIS will in your spirit.

What are some Bible verses on prayer?

Below you will see a selection of Bible verses on prayer:

Prayer is Effective
"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of him" (1 John 5:14-15).

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).

"…The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective" (James 5:16).

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:18).

"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express" (Romans 8:26).

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

"When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures" (James 4:3).

The Teachings of Jesus
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him" (Matthew 6:5-8).

"To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable: 'Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: "God, I thank you that I am not like other men-robbers, evildoers, adulterers-or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get." But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, "God, have mercy on me, a sinner. I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted"'" (Luke 18:9-14).

"'Have faith in God,' Jesus answered. 'I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, "Go, throw yourself into the sea," and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins'" (Mark 11:22-25).

"And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it" (John 14:13-14).

Velocity_14 12-20-2007 05:11 PM

^^^^^Thank you for that DivineDiva! Please pray for me as well. I have been going through with finances and I am trying to maintain and stay strong. I'm thanking God for my family's support and encouragement....but sometimes it is hard to be in good spirits all of the time. I know that rejection is a part of life and are only stepping stones for greater things...I am just getting tired...I really need strength. It is so much going on right now that I feel like I am being pulled in so many different directions...I just want to stop everything but I know gotta keep pressing and moving forward to get to where I want to go...I just need some help and your prayers...

nikki1920 12-20-2007 07:06 PM

Just put one foot in front of the other. And Thank HIM for all that comes your way, good, bad, ugly, whatever.

Denita interned for a local paper so there is an article on www.Charlotte.com about this already...hopefully someone will be held accountable for this senseless loss...

It's me...

Sorors and GC friends,

Now it's me standing in the need of prayer...

The matriarch of my paternal family is in the hospital. She is 90ish. It is a scare, but through talking to quite of few PCPs, I am surely comforted and blessed to know that God says she is not finished, yet...

She worked closely with my grandfather who was the president of Bethune-Cookman for 28 years. Later on, she changed wayward elementary kids lives that are still remembered as they turn 50 years old. She is an awesome, God-fearing woman, whose wisdom extends across the Universe and into the Heavens.

I wish my grandmother was EVERYONE'S grandmother and I am here to share her livelihood with you all!

Stay blessed.

Dear ladies,

Though I am not a Christian, I believe very strongly in the power of prayer and in God's ability to work miracles. My friend, who is a devout Christian who attempts to live her life as an open, loving Christian and make a difference in this world by doing God's work found out over the summer that she had been infected with hepatitis. She found this out in the course of getting immunized to go to India to do missionary work, and counted it as a blessing from God, that she had caught it.

The good news is, she doesn't have liver scarring or cancer. The bad news is the cancer could develop at any time because her viral load is so high (so high the doctor says he's never seen one so high before. It's in the trillions). The good news is, there is treatment. The bad news is that treatment costs $5000 a year, money that she doesn't have. But she's not letting it get to her. She's placing her faith that God will find a way for her to find the money, and in the meantime, she's going to continue living and doing His work. She amazes me, and the world needs more people who are willing to be as generous as she is with her time, her heart, and her prayers.

If you could all please pray for Charlene, that she finds the money, that her viral load comes down, and that she does not develop cancer (because once that happens, that's it. No transplant or chemo will save her), I would deeply appreciate it.

Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you Soror during this difficult period. What a blessing that she lived 90 years and that she is surrounded by the love of her family while she is in the hospital.

So many elderly people are left alone to fend for themselves and her heart must be overjoyed to see her legacy stand firm and strong in front of her.

May God bless and keep you always.

Standing in the need of prayer

Sorors and sistergreeks, I am standing in the need of prayer right now. I am just going through...it seems like there is always an obstacle in the way of me achieving happiness. I am asking for the Lord to break down these barriers and for peace in my life and in my family. In Jesus Name.

Hello sistergreek. ((((((((ljkelly))))))))
I will keep you in my prayers. I went through MANY trials and tribulations in 2007, and just like you, I felt that everytime I tried to get ahead, something was pushing me further behind. So I definitely understand how you are feeling. But remember to always keep your faith and trust in HIM. He will not put anything before you that you cannot handle. And after the storm, you will realize that everything you are going through is for a reason.

Prayers please regarding some test results to come back good and clear. The first round of test came back "abnormal" which could mean cancer or could not (I hate it when doctors say that) so I'll be going back to a surgeon for more tests to be for sure.

Thanks everyone.....

Mother has Pancreatic Cancer

Please pray for my mother who has just started chemotherapy for Pancreatic Cancer.

Pancreatic Cancer is the 4th deadliest Cancer out there, but most people know nothing about it. My mother is still very young and has much left in her life that she can do for others. Please take a moment to pray for her health. Her name is Karen.

Thank you!
