Butterfly clips are cool for the five and under crowd.

Before I got my hair cut this summer I went to the gym a lot and my hair stylist asked me to stop wearing the black "ouchless" elastics because they were breaking my hair. She suggested buying some scrunchies, but not the big 80's looking ones. She said to get some simple plain cloth covered ones that were much smaller then the ones from my childhood. I think they were like 6 for 2.00$ at the drugstore and are all brown and black plain cloth.

Nice screen name. LMAO! Everytime I drive past Lakewood Church I think to myself, "Why does that man have his own logo?"

Pretty spiffy logo.

Not all collector dolls are that expensive, but true most are not massed produced. My grandmother started a doll collection for me years ago, and while I never kept purchasing as an adult, several of those dolls were sold at auction a few years ago and bought my first car. I kept my favorites though including 5 Madame Alexander dolls. I see nothing wrong with an adult collecting dolls if that is something they enjoy.

Jeans, shorts, sneakers, and flip flops are perfectly acceptable at my church... they are perfectly acceptable in most churches I've been in around here. (Granted, shorts on a Sunday morning is going too far.)

The worst is when you see a woman walking down 5th Avenue wearing a nice, classy outfit in neutrals or pastels, and then you look down at her feet and realize that she's wearing BRIGHT ORANGE CROCS!!!! It completely ruins the outfit.

She's not my type either. I'm engaged to Richard Geer. But I think AlphaFrog secretly desires me. She's so obsessed with me! It's quite flattering, even though she's not the right gender.

And why would Kirsten be wearing her traditional Swedish dirndl with those sandals? She should be wearing thick socks and brown boots with it.
Um, its a DOLL - why are you questioning her fashion choices? And what the heck is up with you & the socks? I think you have a weird sock fetish or something... again, really really scary!

The fact that you know what your doll is wearing right now is beyond scary. My mother collects Madame Alexander dolls (the limited edition pricey ones) but I can bet you a zillion bucks that a) she doesn't change their clothes; and b) she wouldn't have a clue as to what one would be wearing without going to look first.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with adults collecting dolls. There are way worse things a person could be collecting, honestly.
I don't care that a person chooses to collect dolls... its the fact that some of them choose to clothe them in different outfits and play with them that fits the "worse" part of that sentence.

Now, you KNOW that I would have bright orange crocks. I wear them to the pool. Actually, they are pretty comfy! But I'd feel silly wearing them with a dress.

And WHOSE idea was Bob Mackie???:p :p

ETA: Bob Mackie belongs on Cher and Carol Burnett and that's about it.

Getting back to topic...

What about dresscodes for formal events? My husband is in the Army and we have a lot of functions to attend and it never fails that I see a woman (because my husband is in combat arms and there are no female soldiers in his unit) dressed very inappropriately. The uniforms for the guys are eq1uivalent to tuxes with and without tails, so it stands to reason the women should at the very least wear an evening gown, not the hoochie skirts they seem to be so fond of. Me personally, I'd love to go looking like this:

http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...eyGivenchy.jpg

Audrey and Givenchy will never go out of style. ;)

I don't think either of those is Bob Mackie, especially not the demon doll.

When I went to the ex boyfriend's fraternity formal, there was a girl there wearing a dress so short that she couldn't sit all night! Classy.

I agree. My motto is that unless it's a VERY cute dress, if it comes from the juniors' department it's probably a bad choice. I saw a woman at a wedding this past weekend wearing a short lace (eek!) skirt and a black top that showed her midriff. It was a black tie wedding. She also thought it was appropriate to freak her date down low on the dance floor so all her business was out there on the street. Very classy.

WCUgirl 08-21-2006 04:21 PM

Let's talk about leggings. Does anyone here think that, since leggings are coming back into style, they're appropriate for the workplace? I don't. Especially since most of the girls who I see wearing leggings are wearing them only so they can get away with super-short skirts.

Speaking of leggings, please, PLEASE don't ever wear these:

The blue crotch reminds me of the liquid they always use in maxi pad, baby diaper and Depends commercials.

There's a lot of them out here in California. My favorite are the girls who wear clothing that would otherwise be cute, but it's 4 sizes too small. I always want to tell them "honey, no one can see the tag inside your clothes. Buy the right size or you'll forever bear a strong resemblance to a piece of sausage."

China hutch is not an okay display case for dolls. Unless you're an 80-year old grandma or under the age of 12, it is not ok to play dress up with dolls.

Is it just me or do some girls look like they have a normal shaped body but that they swallowed an inner tube? Skinny legs and upper body-- big middle. Is it today's fashions or are people just wearing the wrong type of clothing for their body types?

This lady could use some leggings... her skirt's all the way up to her hoo-ha, and she has PATTERNED hose on! OMG! DON"T WEAR THIS... EVER! I don't care how old (or young) you are.

I blame low rise jeans for the spare tire look (or "muffin top") that has striken young women across our country.

Agreed! I HATE when I see a girl who is skinny or has a generally nice shape, but looks a mess b/c she insists on wearing low-rise or too tight jeans. Its not for everyone folks! Go ahead and get the right cut and size for you so that you can look nice rather than buying something that you want to wear b/c you think its cute on your friend but makes you look 3 sizes larger.

So true. Muffin top, especially when combined with "sausage thighs", is not an attractive look. Seriously, no one will see the size of your clothes unless you buy the mens Levi's with the waist and length on the tag. Buy what fits!!!

Scandia 08-21-2006 07:16 PM

Those leggings are the scariest item in this thread. By far. I do not know how such a hideous item could make it to a store.

And those tight low-rise jeans do totally distort the female figure. I do not know how in the world are they considered sexy. They totally transform what is supposed to be an hourglass figure into something worse than the metabolic syndrome belly.

A girl in my 8th grade Ring Dance wore a dress so tight, you could see her crack. The design was like a strapless tube dress, but with see-through chiffon attached to cover the shoulders/back and arms. And a girl in the 6th grade graduation wore a sexy strapless dress with gloves that a 20 year old model in a TV game show wore originally. Even on the model it was still considered risque.
