I'm thinking of getting these this weekend, since you know, I wear orthopedic shoes and all.

haha. Btw, I got the Manolo heels. I needed a size larger than I thought so they had to order them.....now I have to wait until they are delivered to my house from another store!

tunatartare 11-03-2006 12:27 PM

Yay! I'm so happy for you!

Instead of starting a whole new thread about this, i though i'd come to this thread and get y'alls opinions.....

I bought this dress for one of our events coming up, but I don't know what kind of shoe would go good with it. I'm 5'3-ish, and i'm a tad clumsy so I don't know if high heels would be THAT good...although i am a fan. I would really prefer a closed-toe shoe, but i'm open to pretty much anything. I would like to wear a little black sash or ribbon around the waist area, just to bring in contrast, so...yeah.

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...V50783248_.jpg

Any suggestions?

Oh yeah and I forgot to mention that I am on a budget :D

No, not at all. Sometimes the simplest shoes are the most expensive because the maker can sell them all the time. Whenever I try to find simple black slingbacks, it's impossible because the least expensive ones have ugly super-trendy details.

Whenever I go to Saks, I drool over the MBs because they are very well-made. It's hard for me to justify them, however, when I have to dress for visits to a construction site 85% of the time.

amycat, you are my HERO. But, I'm sure you already knew that.

This color matches with your dress. Not to mention it's only $28.99

http://slimages.macys.com/is/image/M...0.5,0&fmt=jpeg

http://www1.macys.com/catalog/produc...Type=EverGreen

This is a semi closed one I could find that would also look stunning with your dress.

http://slimages.macys.com/is/image/M...0.5,0&fmt=jpeg

http://www1.macys.com/catalog/produc...Type=EverGreen

Now, if you want to look stunning, but not too over the board, you could try this as well (just a suggestion) :)

Lace Satin Pull Through Belt -
Regularly $58.00 - Now $19.99 (I prefer the black one)

http://www.ardenb.com/style/37039165601.jpg

http://www.ardenb.com/shop/detail.as...sub_id=0&page=

Hoops W/ Charms & Chain Fringe -
Regularly $24.00 - Now $16.80

http://www.ardenb.com/style/3716236810.jpg

http://www.ardenb.com/shop/detail.as...id=25&sub_id=0

And this would probably do the trick:

http://slimages.macys.com/is/image/M...0.5,0&fmt=jpeg

http://www1.macys.com/catalog/produc...tegoryID=14918

Though I personally prefer the first pair :) with that combination, you don't even need a nicklace since the earrings stand out. Maybe a small necklace would be ok, but if you're looking for those big bead ones, then don't use the earrings :)

Those are gorgeous! The price is a little  (at least for me) but geez, I really like those. Would it be better for me to get black shoes w/ the dress? Only because I think having red shoes might be a little much---of course i'm not good with this whole matchy/matchy stuff, so i wouldn't really know.

I was thinking about black shoes too...hard to match, but not impossible. Depends what kind of accessories you match at the top. One good thing is that the red is not too bright. I gotta go for a quick dinner, so I'll be right back and see what I could find. Besides black, do you have some other colors that you would like too macth? :)

man...I having too much fun with clothes :p

cutie_cat_4ever 11-05-2006 12:03 AM

ok, after giving some thought, here's what I've come up with:

the black shoes could work with your dress, but you just have to make sure it doesn't become the focus of your outfit, so you have to make sure there's enough black items on top to balance. Since you're about my height, this necklace wouldn't be too much for you. The ribbon at the end compliments the bow tie for the pair of shoes that you like. Double strands also adds a little more touch to your outfit than single strand:

Forever 21 necklace ($6.80): http://www.forever21.com/product.asp...2695963&Page=6

The belt could be a little plain, since the necklace and shoes are fancy enough. You don't want to overpower it:

Forever 21 belt ($6.80): http://www.forever21.com/product.asp...0033790&Page=1

You may have to go a little thinner than the 3.5" wide belt that they have. Then with a pair of simple stud earrings (or something that's not too long, roughly half an inch or an inch long, black earrings) a simple black beaded bracelet and a small black satin clutch will do the trick :)

And just see those pairs of pumps a good investment. ;)

----------------------

Edit:

I found a pair even cheaper, $19.99 :)

I got the shoes in the mail the other day and I'm wearing them today! I've already received a couple compliments on them too.....which is reassuring. I've never spent this much on shoes so I needed to feel like they are worth it! :) Btw, for as high as they are they are very comfortable!

I am so jealous! I want the same exact pair someday, they're just so classic and beautiful. How high are the heels and have your toes started to hurt at all from the pointed toe? I find that happens to me sometimes, but I guess it's usually after wearing pointed toe heels for a long day and night of drinking, so nevermind. ;)

I think they're 4 inches high. I ended up getting one size larger than I thought because evidently the shoes run narrow and smaller than many other brands. My feet aren't very narrow, but not super wide either. So I think that getting them one size up helps with the pointy toe pain. I've been wearing them all day and they don't hurt at all. I do use these toe cover things that I bought at Nordstrom in the hosiery department. I think that prevents the pointy-ness from hurting at all. I love them.

I have shoes similar to this in black.
http://images.auctions.overstock.com...26786455_0.jpg

I have a pair like this but with a lower heel and a slightly different buckle (mine has a bronze-colored buckle).
http://perfect-fit.tripod.com/sitebu...s/red-pump.jpg

I have these in a light olive green.

I wish I had a digital camera, because the shoes I have are actually much cuter than the ones in these pictures.

I found them at Nordstrom Rack. Normal price is $74.50. I paid $34.50 including tax. They are a half size larger than I usually wear, but they fit all right (my feet slide around a touch but not too badly!) and they were the only pair in the store in red. And they are just as awesome in person.

Even better: Nordstrom.com is still selling them for full price online.

I SO win!

PNMs of 2007 - be thinking about shoes for initiation:

$19.50 - for those of us who only own white shoes for ritual purposes.

Ok, I don't know how I feel about the leopard but I like the style of these.

tunatartare 01-02-2007 09:16 PM

And they can be yours for the low, low price of $195 and hunting down several boutiques after both Bloomingdale's and Saks sell out in your size.

Yea, I clearly need a hobby.

HAHAHA. I actually saw them on the French Sole website. Yes they are pricey....which is why I'm not sure about the leopard. But super cute style nonetheless. So did you get them?

tunatartare 01-02-2007 09:39 PM

Of course. Had to make a lot of phone calls and inquiries, but Lord knows I'm persistent when it comes to shoes.

I really really like those. ^^^

I went looking for gym shoes before Christmas and ended up with these:

Franco Sarto

http://i.onlineshoes.com/images/br026/123541_450_45.jpg

I own this (lovvvvvvvvve it!):D
Exude exhilaration in the Fleet ankle boot from Franco Sarto. A sleek and sophisticated pointed-toe boot that boasts topstitching accents for refined days in the office or at the track. The synthetic leather sole creates a completed look.
Petrol stretch upper
Synthetic leather sole
Approx. 3’’ heel height

AND

http://content.nordstrom.com/ImageGa...0/_5453100.jpg
I just got this yesterday @ Nordstrom. Mr Sarto was signing shoes and drawing sketches. Didn’t speak much English but I think he was surprised that of all the comments he kept receiving the word “beautiful” kept popping up. His translator/assistant was sitting next to him. I think his designs are sleek, classic but modern (not trendy) and beautiful and comfortable too. Very well constructed shoes
