It sucks for him to be reduced to "Kappa Alpha Psi." haha.

No other group in America has so had their identity socialized out of existence as have black women... When black people are talked about the focus tends to be on black men; and when women are talked about the focus tends to be on white women.

I collect quotes, love this thread. Lots of good ones. I have a few.

Well, I have been going to different forums today and stopped here too so, hello to all since this is my first time posting here.

So, my quotes:
"Never look down on someone unless you're helping them up"

"Be careful how you treat people on your way up cause you might meet 'em on your way down"

And one of my friends said this about community service: "I feel like I'm serving my God by serving his people" I almost cried! (Well, maybe I just got a little emotional)

The longer quotes are my all time (or ultime? :P) favorites.

"There is something about music that keeps its distance even at the moment that it engulfs us. It is at the same time outside and away from us and inside and part of us. In one sense it dwarfs us, and in another we master it. We are led on and on, and yet in some strange way we never lose control."
-Aaron Copland

"You only live once. Why miss the opportunity?"
-Richie Herskowitz (1990-2007) a friend I was supposed to graduate high school with

"In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life. It goes on."
-Robert Frost

"Straight Americans need... an education of the heart and soul. They must understand - to begin with - how it can feel to spend years denying your own deepest truths, to sit silently through classes, meals, and church services while people you love toss off remarks that brutalize your soul."
-Bruce Bawer

Everybody wants a happy life. But sometimes people, in order to achieve a happy and successful life, rely entirely on external means like money and power. I think this is a mistake.
