Yep, I heart Tivo. I can watch an hour long AI episode in 30minutes. I purposely watch it late so I can tivo. But I accidentally came across this thread and saw that Janay was leaving before I watched it. So I had something to look forward to!

I just threw up in my mouth.

ETA: My parents watch AI on TIVO. It turns a 30 minute show into less than 10 minutes when you cut out the commercials and Ryan.

Yep - that's why I had to get out of there. And these same people are calling BO the wannabe rocker?! WTH is wrong with people? Oh, and as another gross-you-out comment - some "supposedly" old lady was on there saying that she wants to go to an AI round so she can FLASH Constannoying! I thought I would be seriously ill after that (we need a barf icon).

Sad to say that I am dysfunctional when it comes to the electronics world. I still have to tape AI and then watch it on fast-forward. I don't listen to a thing Ryan has to say -- or should I say I don't listen to what Ryan says OVER AND OVER AND OVER... and it goes by so much quicker!

I think Constantine will be the new Carmen Rasmusen/Nikki McKibbin/John Stevens. Sad because he will stay while other people with talent will leave before him.

Ok, I like Constantine's voice, but people saying he's hot makes me want to barf. Between the hair, the fat, the grease, and the butt chin, just watching him sing makes me shiver.

OMG - I am in total disbelief!!! While I like Anwar and the others, I thought FOR SURE that Mario would be it for the year! YIKES and double YIKES YIKES! :confused:

Well, I really and truly hope that Nikko does officially come back. If he does, I don't think his fans will forget that he got voted off before - they will be out in force and hopefully that will knock Constannoying out early. :D

BTW - anyone here that is a fan of Constannoying? I mean seriously - usually we have some small controversy (um hum...trouble always finds OTW and AXO ;) ) about contestants, and so far, I think we are agreed on this one -- scary!! :eek:

I also think it's legal trouble. While I really don't think he's a criminal or whatever, I'm thinking it's some kind of eligibility issue.

Ditto on Constannoying. Ditto on AI's version of the Bash Brothers, period. I have to admit that I haven't been keeping up with this season as much as previous ones, but I will say that Mario was my favorite from the beginning, and the only one I really paid attention to.

Perhaps Mario withdrew before he was "outed" by the media? It's weird how NO ONE's saying anything about the situation.

That really sucks about Mario. He was one of my favorites. But down inside I am happy that Nikko is back in. But I didn't want him to be back in the show this way. I wanted him to earn his spot and get it over Constantine. But now I have my favorite person back in!! I agree with whoever said that Nikko's fan will be voting in overtime to ensure that he won't be kicked off right away.

Anyone think Mario could have been offered a contract if he left Idol? It seems strange that he would just leave for undisclosed "personal reasons."

I know that once you make it past a certain point, you must sign a contract saying that you're the "property" of American Idol for a set period of time, regardless of whether or not you remain or stay in competition. You aren't allowed to sign a recording contract with anyone until your time with Idol is over.

That's according to Jordan Segundo, semi-finalist from two seasons ago.

This is true. 19E owns your soul until after the season and tours are over if you don't win. This is even if you don't get beyond Hollywood... but make it there.

And this also includes any TV time. In order to avoid another Will Hung situation, 19E made everyone sign a contract that if they were shown on TV and didn't make it, they wouldn't go bouncing off to some record label until after the season. This is per TWoP, so take it for what it's worth.

Sadness about Mario... I figured he was the golden boi but now I wonder what they will do now that he's gone? Pimp Carrie to no end? I hope they aren't going to pimp Constantcrap... my guess is that they'll try to make Anwar the man. At least he can sing and seems interesting. Mario, though he could sing, seemed forgettable IMO.

I'm glad Nikko is back though. Like someone already said I didn't want him back in this way, but I am glad he is back. His last performance blew me away :)

I was listening to the radio this morning, and they were talking about the contract scenario. Apparently when you get locked into the top 10 (the ones who travel and tour) and eventually would get a record deal or whatever, AI will take up to 50% of what you're pulling in, and apparently normal managers/agents will get a 15% cut, so its a big difference. I think they were just making assumptions, but they thought he got offered a record deal, and so he wanted to get out before he made top 10, that way he can get more money, better exposure, etc. Cuz, by him doing this, anyone that didn't know his name before will definitely know it now.

On the radio this morning all I heard was he left for "personal reasons".

Apparently one of the NYC area news channels got a hold of his mom and she was unaware of any personal issues! :confused:

My friend here thinks it's the contract thing. She thinks he figures he can get a contract without AI.

When I wrote "outed," in no way was I making any reference to his sexual orientation. By saying that I implied that if he had any skeletons in his closet (aka Trenyce, Frenchie, etc.) -- the media had not broken the story yet.

I apologize for any confusion. I have no idea whether or not he bats for me or for the other team, and it really doesn't matter because he was just brilliant.

I wonder if any of the AI contestants (past and present) are indeed gay, though...?

the rumors are either gay and he hasn't told his family, or his girlfriend is preggers. Both very opposite ends of the spectrum.

You know Ryan and the AI folks won't actually state what it is. Controversy is good for ratings. Maybe they'll say something after this weeks show- figuring people will tune in to see if they give the scoop, which of course they won't.

Well now ALL the reports I am reading have "gay" all over it (yeah, none of them are what I would call reputable) -- so it was funny that you posted that and then everyone is calling it. Maybe YOU have started another trend for us ;)

Yay for Nikko being back (although I would love to have Travis back) - at least they are both beautiful to look at :p

Oh and can you BELIEVE that the rumor mill has it that Ozzie & Paula are "in this together" to get Nikko back on and Mario was the only one that would take the payoff. Oh for the love.... I wish I could get paid to make up some rumors!!

Yeah - the prego story came about after Mario said he wanted to surprise his mom with "the news" -- supposedly referring to the fact that he quit AI.

And I don't remember them saying anything about George taking Donnie's place last year (sad that my sweet Donnie didn't make it through this year - but he shoulda known)... and when the mess with what's his name on Clay's season -- all they said was no one would be leaving. I doubt we'll hear anything more.

Alas, poor Mario -- not yet a star and already knows what its like to be the subject of crazy rumors!!

I thought some contestants had left the show (in previous seasons) for a few reasons, one was in a porn, one got a DUI and I think a couple failed to disclose their police record with FOX or something. All of those contestants had "reasons" for leaving. Has anyone left voluntarily before?

Question: What's so special about the top 12? Isn't it just the Top 10 that go on tour? Then why are they making such a big deal about the Top 12? I've never really gotten into AI before and I'm just curious. Thanks~!

Saw something this morning on GMA, and apparently, once you're in the Top 12, you're signed in to 19A, so Mario getting another deal really couldn't be the reason. As a matter of fact, they may ask him to join the Idols tour this summer...just a rumor I think.
