I hope it went well! I kow many education majors from my first school who had to change majors 'cause they couldn't pass the Praxis.

So...should the topic of DZ/Turtle time be brought up Convention this year? It seems like a nation-wide problem :p

LOL - thanks *HUG*

I think I did alright - I left with my head held high (every other time I have taken it I have immediately known how I did by the way I felt. I've been accurate thus far.)

I have to wait to find out until approx. the 20th. I hope I passed - I need to become a REAL certified teacher.

Right now, I just play one on TV.

KatieKate1244 12-02-2005 01:36 AM

I'm slightly confused....you're allowed to teach based on the fact the school is assuming you're going to pass the Praxis? Kinda like graduating from law school and going to work at a firm before passing the bar?

Kind of, yes.

I have a provisional contract and license to teach. It is only good for 1 year. SO I need to pass the Praxis (Maryland has diff. requirements than New Hampshire, which is why I'm taking the Praxis 2, here, now.) and apply (and be granted) a teaching license by June.

:)

Sorry to double post - but I wanted to share a fabulous photo of my hubby-to-be and I from his work Holiday party. He is absolutely adorable in his tux...

I had a snow day today - WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

now I need to go clean the house before the hubby-to-be gets home :p

KatieKate1244 12-09-2005 04:46 PM

Ah, Lucky. ;) I was hoping for a snow day, but alas. We did get a lot of rain and I'm kinda surprised it didn't freeze.

Your photo looks great, BTW!

PlymouthDZ 12-27-2005 05:03 PM

Merry Christmas (a bit late :p )

How was everyone's holiday?

I PASSED the Pedagogy section on the Praxis 2 with a schore of 191 out of 200!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

KatieKate1244 12-29-2005 04:04 PM

That's great news!

My break is boring. I'm working. I'm sitting around the house. That's about it. I can't wait to go back to school.

PlymouthDZ 12-30-2005 04:47 PM

What is everyone doing tomorrow night to ring in 2006?!

I am going my fiance's best friend's house - we're having a party there.

(And seriously, no joke.. at 12am I am going to scream at THE top of my lungs - so listen, you might hear me - that I am get married THIS year ;))

Thanks Katie, by the way. I'm sorry you're so bored. I always hated Winter Breaks that I was home. I get bored easily. *hugs*

CONGRATS! :D Hope everyone's holidays are going well...personally, I'm soooooooooooooooo glad to not be working retail this year. You have no idea. I like being a student. Being a teacher will be OK, too, because you get breaks along with the students. I'm all about holiday breaks. :)

I think I'm going to a bar tomorrow night with my friends for New Year's...same place we went last year!

PlymouthDZ 01-11-2006 08:29 PM

I think I am going to make a new thread...

"In this thread we discuss how Ann is getting married in 5 months and is going to throw up and be stressed every day until then OMG I can't believe I'm getting married so soon"

PlymouthDZ 01-11-2006 08:30 PM

This happened in my area as well(but the shirt had a kitten on it). Was this a Steve and Barry's? That's where those shirts were. Our national rep. called HQ, and I don't know whatever came of the situation.

WSUcheer99 02-16-2006 02:21 PM

Re: Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I had seen that shirt last year I think at a Steve and Barry's store.... I WAS LIVID and wanted to by all of them out of the store.... I think I asked everyone how they could market that....yes I agree VERY ANGRY. The worst part, these young girls probably have NO idea what Delta Zeta even means!

Slightly off-topic, but I really hate Steve and Barry's...sure, it's cheap, but the stuff is cheap, too. I mean, I didn't really expect much out of a sweatshirt I got there one time--I mean, it was about $12, come on--but I did expect to be able to wear it more than once before it shrunk all warped and out of shape. :p

Anyway, about these shirts you all are talking about...I'm like you, I'm wondering how they can sell those. I'm sure they're not licensed. I hate the idea of my sorority's name on a cheap-a$$ shirt.

KatieKate1244 02-18-2006 01:45 AM

My friend gave me a t-shirt from there that started off too big....and is now too small. It is cheap crap.

I think the shirts down here in WV said "Delta Zeta Angel" and had a kitten on them. Which brings to me a trademark questions. I do believe we have our letters copywrited, but what about our name? Because if we do, why hasn't HQ sent out a cease-and-desist (or however it's spelled)?

Total random post here & sorry to crash but I did just find out that my former chapter of Sigma Kappa has been paired w/Delta Zeta & Theta Chi for Greek Week. DZ is the defending champion at my alma mater so good-luck to them!

PlymouthDZ 05-03-2006 03:07 PM

pssssssssssssssssst?

How is everyone? Finals going well?

Where has everyone been? I've been SO busy coaching a winning Indoor colorguard season and preparing for my wedding, which is NEXT MONTH!!!

what's ya'lls excuse? ;)

KatieKate1244 05-03-2006 03:59 PM

My excuse? Procrastination.

I just interviewed to keep my position as editor of my school's paper for the upcoming year. Despite there were only 3 applicants, and to be honest, the other two don't have the experience I do, I'm still nervous.

As far as finals go, I got up to study for a final at 4 am. Only to have the prof. write a completly easy final, hand it out, and leave the classroom. So, yeah....

Are you nervous about the wedding, or excited?

I totally hear the procrastination deal ;)

I hate it when profs do that.. grrr!

I am both nervous and excited. I feel like I am running out of time and I won't get it all done... but I'm excited because I adore my Future Hubby - we live together and know we can do it.. and I've been waiting for this day for over 7 years.

All of the above, please :)

PlymouthDZ 06-16-2006 05:36 PM

Hi ladies!!!

Congrats to all who graduated!! Anyone have a job or anything lined up?

How is everyone? :)
