382. I can't believe I'm FINALLY writing in this thread! I used to read it all the time as a Sisterfriend and there is SO MUCH Love and Encouragment in this post that I had to bring it back up top!

383. I'm only two weeks old but DELTA has made sure I've stayed extremely busy during this time.

384. I love serving and bonding with my SORORS!!! We work hard and play harder :)

385. I love that even though my grandmother knows absolutely nothing about Delta Sigma Theta, she had 5 elephants waiting for me when I went to see her during Easter. When I asked her how did she know she could give me elephants she replied, I remember you telling me how Deltas collect elephants a long time ago.

386. Just Because :)

387. To the Pitt County Alumnae Chapter Sorors in Greenville, NC: Thank you for rolling out the crimson carpet in my honor! You responded to my letter about my book and invited me to come be a part of your weekend activities. You fed me, housed me, embraced me, and encouraged me. Thank you for your support and your love. I had a fabulous time with you and your Delta Academy girls. I will definitely come back to fellowship with my wonderful Sorors in Pitt County. Thank you for embracing me and my book! You're a wonderful group of Sorors and I am thrilled to call you my Sorors. I treasure you all.

392. I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said Soror!

393. I am still pinching myself that so many Sorors are proving that the love and bond of sisterhood goes beyond genetics.

394. I am thankful that I have felt love and encouragement from my first night as a Pyramid to becoming a Soror!

395. I LOVE our Sorority! :D

My little brother (who is in a WGLO and thinks I am the weirdest thing on earth) gave me the cutest little red stuffed elephant and a Delta cup for my birthday. It was so sweet and unexpected I almost cried :D

delph998 04-17-2007 04:19 PM

396. Bonding always strengthens my love for DST. I had a ball with the Sorors of Minneapolis/St. Paul Alumnae Chapter this past weekend.

Did you meet Soror No Chaser? She's part of the chapter as well.

No. I thought about her but forgot to ask if she was at the event.

Blessed2bDST 05-07-2007 01:52 PM

401. Finally having the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of fellow soror-journalists and role models Peggy Peterman, Ethel Payne and Charlayne Hunter-Gault.

402. The overwhelming warmth and kindness with which I and my line sisters have been welcomed into this mighty sisterhood.

403. Looking at my older sister, with tears in my eyes, pinning me with tears in her eyes and having her say to me, "Hey Soror!"

DSTdimepiece 05-08-2007 04:39 PM

404. the love of sorors no matter where you go and how long you are staying

405. being able to talk to generations of women just because you share DST in common

Gina1201 05-20-2007 09:18 AM

406. Being able to support sorors in their endeavors. I see you Soror CT4!!

CrimsonTide4 05-20-2007 05:00 PM

407. The Syracuse Alumnae chapter for embracing my book, inviting me to their May Week Luncheon, the sisterly spirit rampant in their chapter, inviting me to the after luncheon fish fry, buying plenty of books so my suitcase was light this morning, the good directions to Soror JP's house, driving me back to the highway down a steep arse hill, the Neiman Marcus cake, the conversation, and that good old Delta spirit. I love this chapter!!!

408. Soror Gina for looking out for me and promoting the heck out of my book so much that it will be used in the Upward Bound and Each One, Teach One programs in Syracuse this year!

409. Fellow Delta authors I met yesterday Soror Gwyneth Bolton and Soror Peggy Wood (born in 1912) for your support, conversation and well wishes in my writing career!

delph998 05-21-2007 10:38 PM

410. Soror Sheryl Lee Ralph for doing a superb job reciting her one-woman play: Sometimes I Cry. I was truly touched.

411. To the Sorors that worked so selflessly for our 11th Annual Literary Luncheon.

mulattogyrl 05-24-2007 04:45 PM

412. To the sorors that are there to lift you up when you think about giving up on something. It just makes you fall in love with Delta all over again.

413. To Soror KimL, just because.

MsDJ80 05-24-2007 11:13 PM

414. Because my Soror Guidance Counselor from high school used my classroom to administer the SAT, and left in my computer a cd of some songs that I was jamming to, the night before, at our chapter's dance class:D She thought enough of me to make me a copy of the cd and leave a note for me that made me smile

12dn94dst 05-25-2007 12:42 AM

415. To my Neos, especially the '07, '05 an '04 lines, who always remind me that I'm as young as I feel and that every now and again, a working person can kick it late during the week.

416. FELLOWSHIP

DeltaDivaDZ07 05-26-2007 03:18 AM

417. The Founders, it goes without saying of course...words do not begin to describe how great they were. Their vision has given me the greatest gift and I pray that WE (as Sorors) can continue to build onto the legacy that shines so bright.

418. I would be no where without KHM (DZ Chapter)...she wrote my letter and has showed me the true essence of our illustrious sisterhood and to her I am FOREVER greatful.

419. REDS6, has and has continued to help me out profusely...special thanks to her

420. My LS's...they guide me when I'm lost and show me things that sometimes I might not otherwise see. I love them dearly...like Ne-Yo says "U Make Me Better..." lol

421. And ALL those (they know who they are :-D...too many to name) who have helped me and my LS's get to this point and have dedicated their time and effort into showing us what DELTA is all about...

Gina1201 05-27-2007 10:27 AM

422. Because your LS treat you like your REAL sister. Thanks to my ace and my back, since Monday I have found my wedding dress, bridesmaids dresses and tentatively reserved a reception hall. I don't what I'd do without their help, guidance and support.

MeezDiscreet 10-05-2007 01:42 PM

423. Sorors, these pictures are beautiful!

jitterbug13 10-05-2007 07:36 PM

426. I love when my sorors are able to help me in answering questions. Like what is a proselyte day? :p (Beautiful pics, BTW)

427. I love when you met a soror and strike up a conversation with her like you've know each other forever. :D

434. Meeting a soror this weekend while out of town who showed me the true meaning of our wonderful sisterhood. She introduced herself to me & made sure that I felt welcomed & can call her anytime I need to.

Those experiences only reinforce why I love Delta!!!!

delph998 11-12-2007 09:13 PM

435. The outpouring of love for Soror Pham this past weekend was phenomenal. She needed that support from Sorors and many didn't know her. I love my D-S-T.

To My Back

Hey Sorors,

I want to salute "my back" Dawn " Miracle" Blackwell, #48 of the Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter. She is a woman of great inspiration, hope and courage. God saw fit to have our lives join in Delta and I am so thankful that He did. 2007 gave birth to both our dreams of being a Delta and being a part of a " Sisterhood" that spans the globe. A few months after we crossed she was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer and had to immediately take action. Long story short she is now finished with chemo, lump removed and will start her radiation treatments after Christmas. Through it all she has remained strong and leaning on God. She is my hero and as I see her move through this journey there has been a new level of respect that I have for my sister, my SOROR....MY BACK! Oh, and today is her birthday...so yall can send her the biggest ooooooo-oooooop you can must and I will past it on...smile!

437. ...traveling from states/hours away to witness my wedding vows. OO-OOP!

438. ...making me feel like this:

...while being serenaded at my reception.

439. For new chapter Sorors...making my transition from Mighty to Sensational relatively seamless. :)

441. Its double 4s! Yeah!

lovechild1913 12-26-2007 01:58 PM

hey Sorors I am still trying to read through all 15 or so pages of this thread but here is a poem I wrote during my process....

A DELTA’S KWANZAA

It is new to me
But a celebrated tradition for many others.

It is the celebration of LIFE on the soils of Mother Africa,
It is the celebration of LIFE on the soils that which our ancestors once walked,
It is the celebration of the MUSTARD SEEDS that holds faith for us in our futures.

We light our candles
And smell its scent as it burns
A scent that will disappear
But a flame that is forever….ENDLESS.

We move our bodies gracefully to the music for this day
But we move with the power, the spirit, the energy,
And the silent emotion of a modern praise dance.

We drink of the water that provides all living things life
We eat of the harvest that provides us strength

It is then that we come together as One
We come together in Umoja(unity
We come together in IMANI(faith) and KUPENDA (love)
For ourselves, for our teachers, for our people
But mostly for the victory of our struggle!
