Now that's what I'm talking about.

Don't know how I'm going to get through work thinking about this game all day - maybe I could do a lesson with the kids on baseball.

AC - Year of the Cubs

00 - Years since Division Championship

59 - Years since World Series Appearance

96 - Years since World Championship

This is on a big sign outside wrigley with "Eamus Catuli" (Go Cubs, in Latin)

CatStarESP4 10-16-2003 01:33 PM

Poor Cubs! You guys gave your it all (despite that stupid idiot who jinxed your chances of going to the WS)! Better luck next year! Make sure that guy watches it in your safety of his home!!!!

http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/sad/cry.gif

Go Red Sox!!!!!!! You made this far, continue your success!!! Goooooooo all the way!

I managed to catch the rest of the game last night after my evening Economics Class. I'm not too big of a Marlins Fan( Still haven't forgot about them winning the World Series against the Indians:mad: ) Dusty Baker deserves credit for leading the cubs into the playoffs. can't wait for next year when they take it one step further. in the meantime:

GO RED SOX!!!!!!!!!

Of course you mean stupid idiots in reference to players that made bad plays on the team, the fan is not to blame unless he made Cabrera hit a three run shot in the first last night?

True Cubs fans don't blame the fan for what happened, they realize the team didn't play up to par. (I am one of these.)

Whiny Cubs fans have nothing else to blame but a fan who did something that any other damn person would have done in his situation.

Neither Chi-town team has done anything since the teens. Nothing to brag about at all:cool: The sox have owned the cubs the last couple of years.

http://www.eek3.net/upload/files/cubs.jpg

All in fun of course but I enjoyed this season.

docetboy 10-16-2003 07:28 PM

As I seem to recall, the White Sox failed to get in the playoffs. Atleast the Cubbies came off with second place in the NL...quite a feat.

Thrillhouse 10-16-2003 08:25 PM

The cubs should still be playing right now, they were the favored team and certainly put themselves in a great position to win the series. I've seen the sox in the playoffs before when the cubs sat but thats nothing unless you win it all or at least make the WS. Being tied for 3rd best at something isn't anything to shout about, imo.

docetboy 10-16-2003 08:51 PM

The cubs had an awesome season. That is something to brag about. The giants and the braves can also brag right now - they also had awesome seasons.

IheartAST129 10-16-2003 09:58 PM

HIP HIP HOOOOORAY!

I am soooooo loving the ALCS game seven right now...

KEEP IT UP SOX!:D

The giants and braves wanted much more I imagine.

Hopefully both Chi-town teams make the WS next year, that would be coolt o see.

docetboy 10-16-2003 11:59 PM

They got more then the white sox did!!!!!!!!!!

docetboy 10-17-2003 12:10 AM

oh well, 86 wins isn't too shabby. As said earlier, I have seen seasons where the sox were in the playoffs and the cubs weren't. Fact of the matter is, both teams haven't done much in the past 80+ years.

This was the cubs year to make the ws, how do they blow a two game lead and blow it with two superstar pitchers going back to back in games 6 and 7? Thats why I think its so funny.

I am done debating this issue though, I think we can agree to disagree.

This sox-yankee game could be one that is talked 20 years down the road like the ending of the 78 season is still talked about today when the red sox-yankee rivalry is referenced.

WOW!!! What a game! I can't believe how Game 7 of the ALCS turned out! Talk about a battle. I think we're in for a very spirited World Series starting this weekend!

Too bad I won't be watching...And I bet the WS ratings are gonna be a lot lower then the ratings seen this past week....

Rudey 10-17-2003 12:52 AM

World Series

I just spent 2 gerand on two tickets to the world series. Look for me om tv you sons of bitches.

-Rudey
--I am so stupid for spending that much

mullet81 10-17-2003 12:54 AM

holy crap! what i could do with an extra 2 grand...

have a blast!! i wish my cubbies had made it - i would have paid anything to see that!!

KSigkid 10-17-2003 06:42 AM

I could honestly care less if the ratings suck for the Series...my team is in and I'm happy. All the fairweather Sox fans out there will have to become Marlins fans; I won't have to hear Bostonians who know next to nothing about sports in general trying to tell me why the Yankees suck.

The Sox played a hell of a series, I thought it was over going into the 8th. The Sox are a very good team and had one hell of a season.

This is an interesting situation - unlike 86, the players aren't on the spot here. Everyone is talking about how Grady should have done this, Grady should have done that. The criticism is purely on the manager's shoulders, at least right after gametime. (I think it would be a huge mistake to fire a guy who won 90 games with NO bullpen for 3/4 of the year, but that's just me).

But...GO YANKS.

It's 6 am, I'm tired and a little hungover...but it was worth it.

mmcat 10-17-2003 07:33 AM

marlins vs. yankees...
hell did not freeze over.
too bad.

docetboy 10-17-2003 08:17 AM

In more important news, this is the most successful thread i've ever created. Woohoo! Go me!

I'm pretty hungover too and have to wear a hat at work today. Sweet deal. Anyone want to buy world series tickets? totally serious here.

wouldn't surprised me. the Marlins are on a roll.

polarpi 10-19-2003 01:04 AM

Well, Marlins are up one game to none.....here's to the Yanks rattling off the next four games as wins and beating the pants off of those Fish! :)

(And no, I'm not a person jumping on the bandwagon....don't like the Marlins {since they beat my Cubs} and only root for the Yanks when I don't like who they're playing!)

mmcat 10-19-2003 09:23 AM

i hate the yankees...so go fish.
darn it, they beat my cubs.

opaldragon 10-26-2003 01:57 AM

And the Marlins win the World Series.
I think Yankee fans think hell froze over.

Optimist Prime 10-26-2003 02:41 AM

it's good the NL won, but I mean, come on, the Marlins?

KSigkid 10-26-2003 10:39 AM

As I said in the other thread:

Congrats to the Marlins. They deserved to win the way the Yanks were hitting.

Hopefully George doesn't go off the deep end and fire Torre and Cashman. Also hope they can re-sign Pettite this off-season and that he doesn't end up going to one of the Texas teams.

KSig RC 10-26-2003 10:57 AM

this is the worst thing to happen to baseball, ever. now it's 23 more years of hearing how the system isn't broken, just because the yankees lost.

CD, I agree with you, Pettitte is a keeper. he might be the most clutch pitcher on the planet.
