Did your team win today? |
ahh another good weekend - Auburn wins and Alabama LOSES war damn eagle baby!
I watched the Arkansas and Florida game - that shot by Bua was a cheap shot. We then got to see his belly aching the rest of the time, what a baby. |
Hmmm.... I left the game early, but what was the score of the Michigan/Illinois game? 56-14? or something.
Damn. And note to others-- I've never been to an away game but I'm assuming to save myself the trouble, I would NEVER sit in an opposing student section with my team colors or anything of my team on. I would just enjoy the game and pretend like I'm one of them. |

Aren't you an Ichobad? Why don't you post their fight song? Kitso KS 361 wannabe "Huskers" that i'm gonna have to hear it from |
Just saw the bsc ranking posted there is a 3 way tie for 5th.
First BCS projection 1. Oklahoma 2. Miami 3. Virginia Tech 4. Georgia 5. USC/Ohio State/Florida State |

If he continues like this, maybe TCU would have him back? Probably not... Maybe Fox Sports SW needs another color commentator;) Slocum needs to be given some credit for being a good coach. Maybe the whorns will hire him into their soon to be vacated HC position. |

I'm not saying you should have picked your college by their football team, but in MY eyes, if you are not an alum or spent time or money at that particular institution, your affiliation with that school is substantially less than mine with A&M. I toughed it out, spent a lot of money, attended a world class institution, and graduated with a degree. I am an Aggie. Same for those that attend NU, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and even <shudder> Texas. If not, you're just a fan. And a classless fan if you talk trash about another school without a degree to back you up. As far as the Packers, who cares? it's pro football. All you're doing is basically rooting for one uniform design over another, the players have no loyalty to their cities or fans anymore. Kitso KS 361 times better college football is than pro ball |

Unlike you trash-talking Texans, we Wisconsinites have enough class to love all the schools in our state, not just the ones we go to. :p |

fine. then i reserve the right to call you both bandwagon and classless fans. Yes, it must be easy for those in wisconsin to love all wisconsin teams, you have what, one Div 1 football program? just like nebraska, except of course for the success. Kitso KS 361 |

Soooo since I go to a "satellite" school of University of Michigan Ann Arbor, does that mean I can't go to Michigan games or cheer for Michigan? Phildo PM 361 times I'll cheer for ANY team against Michigan State. |

I merely said that it's easy for y'all to preach "wisconsin love" because Wisconsin has no major instate rival. It's also easy to say you root for all the Wisconsin teams as the majority of the schools fall under the UW system. Pretty similar to Nebraska, where the U has branches in different cities but only one flagship institution. In comparison, Texas has 3 major educational systems, Texas A&M, UT and the Texas State System. Aggies like myself don't feel the need to bash on the 'lower' branches of our system or the UT system, as A&M and UT are the 2 flagship institutions in the state. They are our equals, but also our RIVALS. If you put aside your dislike for my politics and actually read and comprehend this post, you will see that you took my last post completely out of context. Thanks for playing though. Kitso KS 361 |
I will agree that Wisconsin no longer has an instate rival. I think Marquette is probably the only school large enough to ever be one, and like I said earlier, we haven't had football here in years.
As for ragging on the lower branches of the UW system - ragging on all the schools in Wisconsin is a huge tradition! Out of my graduating class of 450, approx. 400 of us went to college, and out of those 400 I believe 370 stayed in Wisconsin. We have tons of of lightbulb and drinking emails circulated and it's all in good fun. Another interesting fact is that Wisconsin used to have separate systems up until very recently...the UW system and the WSU system. I believe they merged in the 60s or 70s. AND!Where did I even mention politics?   |

Do they teach reading comprehension at your satellite school? PLease show me where i said you "can't go to UM games or cheer for UM" i did not say that anywhere. What i did say, is that it is perfectly fine to have a team that you root for at a school you didn't attend. I myself am a Duke basketball FAN, because i respect Coach K and the institution. Note i said i'm a fan and not a BLUE DEVIL. I cheer for Duke, but i consider it CLASSLESS for me to talk trash or act superior to ALUMS of schools that Duke plays and beats. you are NOT a WOLVERINE. You are a Wolverine FAN. If you talk trash to someone from MSU after UM beats them, then you are a CLASSLESS Wolverine FAN. you people, i swear. Kitso KS 361 times you people rip off my schtick when you reply to me and it just makes you look unoriginal oh, and by the way, did you mean get my Texas head out of my Texas ass? |
Quote:
;) I have to give you a hard time 'cause I almost went to UT-Austin. I'm kidding, really I am, but honestly, why even bring up success when it's pretty clear your team isn't having any? Class has nothing to do with whether or not you attend a given institution. Classy people don't trash talk, when it comes to their school or anyone else's. Fortunately Kath and I never claimed to be classy. |

I don't equate my love and devotion to A&M with their gridiron success. I would much rather be an Aggie and have a horrible football team than have attended Cookie Cutter U and have a national power. Texas A&M is not a school name on my diploma and ring, it is another select fraternity that i am a part of and paid my dues to become a member of. I love my alma mater very much and take great offense when those who have a casual attachment to some random school based on their football success deem it necessary to belittle Texas A&M. I didn't bring this topic up to elict a discussion on who is qualified to 'talk trash'. Personally, i give a hard time to the longwhorns, because they are our RIVALs and i have a great many friends that attended t.u. and good natured ribbing is part of the rivalry. I give a hard time to the Red Raiders, because, well, they deserve it. I challenge you to find a post of mine on GC crowing over an A&M in a classless manner. Kitso KS 361 losses Texas A&M could have, and i would still wear my ring with pride |
Quote:
And YES I AM a Wolverine. For if we were not considered Wolverines, we would not have the privilege of student tickets at the football games. We would not have the opportunity to say that we go to University of Michigan, and we would not have the right to wear the ol Maize and Blue. Oh wait.... Everyone has the right to wear Maize and Blue. And cheer for my team. And talk trash to teams playing Michigan. I forgot that us GCers deemed you the Classy Guy and the one who gets to tell people what to do. Oops I forgot that you are God. |

I'm merely giving you my opinion of those "fans" that i described. you want to wear maize and blue, pose as a UM Ann Arbor student, and make yourself look like an ass, be my guest. Just don't be all shocked when someone calls you a bandwagon fan or poser. once again, READ THIS: I'M NOT TELLING YOU THAT YOU CAN'T REPRESENT YOURSELF AS A WOLVERINE UNTIL YOUR FACE TURNS BLUE AND YOU CRAP RAINBOW SHERBERT. Please understand that. I understand that Dearborn is a satellite school of UM Ann Arbor and that's fine. Call yourself a wolverine all you want, but i'm willing to bet there are Ann Arbor students who would agree with me. My initial post wasn't directed at you or anyone in particular. A&M has a satellite in Galveston. They too pull A&M tickets. However, they AREN'T Aggies. They are Sea Aggies. A&M is more than classes and diploma. There is a unique experience you can only achieve having attended classes in College Station. I guess it's just different. To me, one of the biggest insults i could ever recieve is to be called a "Bad Ag" or a 2%er (the 2 percent of the people who attend A&M who don't show the true Aggie Spirit). Being an Aggie is extremely important to me, so i wouldn't want to represent myself as something else. I guess i wouldn't know what it's like to go to a school that doesn't have enough pride in itself that the students have to affiliate with their flagship institution or other in-state school. And yes, i am A god, not THE god, but A god, and all you hippie liberals out there sure are gonna be shocked when you get up here. Kitso KS 361 times it'll be easier if you just admit i'm right now |
This is just a wild guess, but I don't think either of you is going to change the other's mind, so how about we just agree to disagree and move along?

Back on subject!
In Division II, my alma mater, the University of Central Oklahoma is now 7-0 after a 6-7 season last year! As of last week we were 9th in DII and should be higher this week. We just took down East Central University (another LSC team). There was an amazing play where our QB came out to return a punt and took it all the way... Anyone else know of a QB that does that? This was his first time to play on Special Teams -- and I've never really thought of the guy as a mobile QB. Either he is.. or ECU and their 1-7 record is a REALLY bad team. I don't think we'll take down Valdosta State or Grand Valley this year... But we should be on their radar in coming years. |
Going to the Big House!!
I'm going to the Big House next weekend to watch my Boilers take on Michigan! I can't wait. I'm gonna be sitting in the UM student section, too! I'm from Michigan and I have a lot of friends who go there, so I'm really excited!
I'm gonna be decked out in black and gold and singing "Hail Purdue" on the top of my lungs! Hopefully the Wolverine fans won't throw things at me and my friend — based on the fact that we're both cute and blonde! haha But if they throw things, I don't care! They're not gonna stop me from cheering :) Go Boilers!! |

Oh dear what am I talking about? I'm not a Wolverine. I'm just a bandwagon fan who has loved Michigan since I was 8 years old and I've only been getting football tickets for the last few years, and I've only dreamed of going to Ann Arbor since I was little but since I'm just a stupid f*&^ and a bandwagon fan, I just don't know what I'm talking about. |

glad we're not playin in fayettenam next weekend, we play a hell of a lot better on the road or in Little Rock than we do there. |
More DII News...
Previous #2 Grand Valley took a tumble this week to #9 in the polls as they were upset by Saginaw State.
Sorry Tom, your #5 Pittsburgh State Gorillas also dropped in the polls to #10 after a loss to Emporia State. Valdosta State still looks pretty powerful. Ya'll are posting some pretty huge crowds according to the stories I've read. My school, Central Oklahoma is lucky to get 6000 people to show up for a game. By the way... we moved up to #6 in the polls:D after the previously mentioned beating of East Central University in Ada, OK. My prediction? Valdosta should win the national championship this year. They've been posting ridiculous scores on folks. They're the Oklahoma U of DII:D Hopefully Central OK will make it a few games into the playoffs but lately, we've been playing like Ohio State. Great defense, great special teams (our QB is now returning punts for TD's) and so-so offense. Central OK was playing great offense at the beginning of the year when we blew out now #18 Mesa State in the year's first game. DII football I'll have to say is an entirely different type of football. Just as entertaining as DI but without TV timeouts:D |
My husband has the delusion that his Hurricanes will be #1 this year. I tell him the only way that would happen is if the buses carrying the OU team and the Virginia Tech team happen to crash and seriously injure every team member on board  oh well, its fun to poke at him about it :)
Coach Fran is an idiot - sorry Kitso - but he was stupid at TCU, he was even worse at Alabama, and now at A&M he is about to throw things down the crapper. Shameless self-promoter thats all that guy is. I mean, whats the fascination with him anyway? What team has he pulled to high status? Now Bob Stoops, thats a badass coach :) he is my crush for the fall tee hee |

I'm with him!!!!! :D |

His first year at Bama i believe they were 3-5 and won their last 4 games to end the season 7-5. The next year they went 10-3. Things are rough now, but it is far to soon IMO to write him off as a bad coach. Remember, he's still implementing his system and basically working with a defense that has noone that would start anywhere else in the Big XII. Patience, Mere, patience. I suffered through the last 5 years of RC, i think i can give Fran 2 or 3 seasons. Look for A&M to improve next year, and when Fran gets a couple of his recruiting classes in, look for us to challenge. I will tell you this, i believe that Saturday Reggie earned himself a position holding a clipboard against OSU. I'd be greatly surprised if D. Long doesn't start this week against the Cowboys. Gig em Kitso KS 361 times it's time for Old Army to squeeze mere, don't jump off the wagon now, it's about to get interesting :D |
I would never not root for A&M, even if Mr. Crimson Tide Gene Stallings himself came off his ranch in Paris to coach them again :D
I just get this ooook icky vibe everytime I see a press conference with him *shudders* like that used car salesman feel blech. Maybe its his hair haha. All seriousness though, I do understand he is playing with Slocum's leftovers and I know any other coach would probably have done just as poorly this year. I think recruitment wise he will do well in the years to come, so I'm not going to pass them up yet. Just can't get over that icky feeling :p |
This isn't directly related to football, but I thought it was worth posting.
http://www.theeagle.com/aandmnews/102103reveillevi.htm October 21, 2003 Reveille VI euthanized; funeral arrangements pending By CHRISTOPHER FERRELL Eagle Staff Writer Funeral arrangements are pending for retired Texas A&M University mascot Reveille VI, who was euthanized Saturday after battling epilepsy for most of her life and liver problems in recent years. The 10-year-old Collie was put down on the advice of her caretaker, retired A&M veterinarian Charles Hall, who made the decision after consulting with other A&M veterinarians, according to a university press release. Reveille VI served as the “first lady” of Aggieland from 1993 to 2001, when she was replaced because of health problems. No date has been set for Reveille VI’s funeral, but university officials said the burial most likely will take place after Nov. 1. The first five Reveilles are buried outside The Zone at Kyle Field, where a special scoreboard is mounted so they can see the score of A&M football games, according to tradition. The last military-style mascot funeral — for her predecessor, Reveille V, in September 1999 — drew about 3,000 students and alumni to the campus. Reveille VI was born Sept. 3, 1993 and took over as mascot about five weeks later. She was 4 months old when she was kidnapped by University of Texas students as a prank before the annual A&M-Texas game. She eventually was found tied to a tree near a lake in Austin and is in the history books as the only A&M mascot to ever have been stolen. Reveille VI starred in a 1996 film titled Reveille: My Life as the Aggie Mascot. She was in attendance when A&M won the 1998 Big 12 championship and for President George W. Bush’s inaugural ball in Washington, D.C., in 2000. The former Aggie mascot was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy and arthritis in 1996, but was able to continue her duties — which included attending football games and other A&M functions — for more than four years. Senior cadet Matt Stalcup, commander of Company E-2, which takes care of Aggie mascots, was a freshman when Reveille VI was retired and Reveille VII took over. “Her life was so stressful. All the stuff a mascot has to do is demanding for any dog,” Stalcup said. “When she was retired to Dr. Hall’s house, we got to go out there periodically and play with her. It was nice to see her get to play and just be a regular dog.” She celebrated her 10th birthday in September at a party hosted by Hall and his wife, Diane, who had taken care of her for almost 2 1/2 years. The Halls told guests that Reveille VI was in declining health and was taking nine different pills and two forms of liquid medications each day to help combat seizures and other problems. The Reveille tradition dates back to 1931, when Corps members hit a small black and white dog on their way back from Navasota. The dog began barking the next morning when Reveille was played by a bugler and she was named after the morning wake-up call. Reveille mascots are considered the highest ranking member of the A&M Corps of Cadets, and hold the distinction of a five-star general. If Reveille sleeps in a cadet’s bed, the Corps member must sleep on the floor. An A&M tradition dictates that if the dog barks while in a class, the professor is to immediately dismiss their students. |
Nice story. Sad.
Two live mascot stories: Most of you have seen Ralphie on TV, the full grown buffalo who runs the field in front of the Colorado football team at pre-game and halftime. A few years ago, I was directing a CU football game and the announcers made the comment that Ralphie wouldn't run that day because of a virus. I made a smart a$$ comment in their headphones that the wimpy buffalo wouldn't play hurt. Sometime during the following week, Ralphie died, The present Ralphie is either number 4 or 5. A few years later I was actually attending (as opposed to televising) an Air Force/Navy game. At halftime, the Air Force prairie falcon mascots perform. The narrator for the show closed off by saying, "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Cadet Captain (somebody) thanking you for watching the only performing mascot in the NCAA -- the US Air Force Academy Falcon." (soto voce on the PA) "Now, let's see the goat fly." |
Okay, anyone watch the OU-CU game? That had to be about the worst officiating I've ever seen (bad calls on both sides of the ball). At one point we waited like 5 minutes for Barnett and the officials to have a spat about 10 seconds on the clock and a timeout that Barnett had called.
There was a CU interception that was ruled an incompletion. There were a few questionable pass interferance calls. Even a fumble that was ruled dead when it should have been a fumble. OU got lucky here. I'm glad they had a close call before next week with Okie State. They need to bury those Aggies of the North on Nov. 1st. After this performance, I'm concerned and hopefully, they are as well. *** The SEC cracks me up this year. Georgia having these two near-losses against freakin' UAB and Vanderbilt! Yes, #4 Georgia. Pre-season reported world-beater Auburn is pa-thet-ic. What was that? 31-7 against LSU? Arkansas is inconsistant as heck. Tennessee and Bama... 5 OT's? |

First time all season that we didn't beat the spread. :( And we need to be ready to trounce those Sheeplovers, er, I mean Cowboys, next week. Maybe the team was playing it safe this week, saving their energies for next week, as to whoop @$$. |
Spanky Spanky once again by Michigan. I have no clue what the final score was, but when we left in the 4th it was 21-3.
I did get to meet a Delta Zeta from Purdue tho. She was with my friend. |
