COB part 2
I just got back from COB..the groups that participated were ZTA, Pi Beta Phi, Sigma Kappa, Lamda Alpha Theta (latino sorority), and Alpha Xi Delta...so we'll see what happens next I guess..some of the girls have already gotten phone calls to join, I've heard nothing yet, I'll see what happens I suppose
|
Hope all goes well for you! :)
|
Good Luck with COB!:)
|
Pam,
I know your home is out there somewhere...if it doesn't wind up being as a collegiate, always think about alumnae initiation...I know there are some GCers out here that have gone through AI and could tell you more about it! Best of luck with the rest of COR! |
question
for anyone who has gone through COB/COR...how long should I be waiting for to recieve a bid...after how long should I just be like, its not gonna happen? I know its "continuous" but I'm sure they would have extended a bid by a certain time...how long about? Just to let you know...there were 15 girls that COB'd. I was the only junior and I think there were 2 sophomores...a couple of them already recieved bids, so we'll see I guess. Trying to stay positive here. Talk to you all soon.
|
Actually, that sounds like amazingly quick uptake on COB bids to me...
Maybe my school works differently than others, but I think there's definately still a chance for a bid! :) |
was there only one cob party? i am not sure how that would work. do you know if they are having more parties? is there anyone from this school who could explain the cob process more?????
|
for what it's worth, my fingers are now crossed for you. this sounds like a different sort of a deal. but who knows...just keep is coool, cooley cool...(as in west side story) and see what fate hands you.
|
RedFox, I really hope that COB works out for you and I wish you all the luck!
|
We usually held 2 or 3 parties or get togethers before we offered a bid.... Good luck!
|
It really depends on the chapter. We usually have a bunch of parties (like right now we're having 6) and will then extend bids after the two week period. Sometimes we have continuously handed out bids. It really just depends. Just don't count yourself out yet! If you're still interested than keep going back and let them know that! :)
I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose. :) |
I went through COB twice - once as a junior and once as a senior.
On the first occassion, I went to the all sorority COB information night and was offered a bid about two hours later. ...on the other hand... The second time I went through COB I went to two separate events before the sisters started pulling girls aside to tell them if they were getting a bid or not. Oddly enough, it was the same exact chapter both times! Looking back at my two different experiences, I guess there's no definite rule about how long you should be waiting for a bid. Generally there is a statement on the COB flyer which says that one must attend X number of events to qualify for a bid. .....Kelly :) |
Definitly dont give up. Sometimes people get bids sooner than others but of course you know that doesnt mean you wont get one :) Have a good time and let me know how it goes. Im wishing you the best of luck girl!

in this case...there is only one party and they contact you via phone, email, whatever....I haven't heard and I'm guessing no bids from here on..all of the girls i talked to have heard something already, so I guess COB is out, I gave it a shot, didn't work out, oh well, i guess you can't always get what you want. Best of luck to everyone else.

I'm so sorry, Pam :(
|
Pam, this is really difficult, because this is a time when the system doesn't work. :( I hope that you're not soured, but considered Alumnae Initiation once you graduate.
My very best wishes, Pam. |
Pam, I am really sorry to hear about this. :( I hope you don't let it sour you from Greek Life or other campus activities. There are a lot of other awesome things to do on campus - GPBoy didn't sign until his 8th semester of college and he was still very involved and had a great college career. I hope you do too.
(hugs) |
I'm so sorry that the COB events didn't work out for you but don't let that hinder your college experience and try to find some clubs or organizations that really interest you. You always have alumnae initiation to look at after college. I know these are all bittersweet words right now but I know in the end it will all work out. I will you all the best...

Well my rush mommy (ADPi UCF) and I were talking today...and I have been so involved with tri-M and musical theatre that we got to talking about SAI. One of the things that drew me to liking AXO was the fact they were musically based. I checked it out and we have a chapter here. I remembered that I knew someone from ebing here over the summer who was in SAI. I got her IM and I'm going to contact her and talk to her about it. Maybe that's for me? :) Anyone in SAI with thoughts/comments about what it is? Thanks
|
I am sure SAIRose could help you! Just PM her!

Like I have been saying, all things happen for a reason. You're a great person and I know there is a campus org out there that is going to be a great fit for you!!!!
Pi Love, Your Rush Mommy :) |
Pam, I'm sorry COB didn't work out :( but as you are so quick to discover there are many other options! Check out SAI and see what it is all about! :)
|
SAI
I talked to my friend, and she invited me to attend a rush event tonight at 8pm, I'm gonna go check it out and see what its all about! Talk to you all soon, I'm excited :) Here's the thing. You have to be enrolled or have taken a music class in school to join and have at least a 2.5 gpa, gpa is no problem, but i've never taken a class here or at my other school, however I did private lessons and musical theater on the side instead. If they like me, I can enroll in a class and join in the spring, but anyway, I'm gonna go check it out and hopefully this will be it for me :-D Talk to you all soon
|
Good luck and have a GREAT time!
|
Have a great time tonight, Pam!

|
Nineteen pages, and Pam's going to tease us! MERCY!!!!!!
|
i fell asleep in the midst of "attempting" to post last night ;)
Sorry to keep everyone waiting! I didn't mean to tease!!! Well here's the story...I went to one of their rush events the other night, so much fun, the girls are really nice. A lot of the girls are in SAI because they play a musical instrument (I don't) and they were definitely looking for more actives in terms of vocal ability (WHICH I HAPPEN TO HAVE :D) However, one of the requirements is to have taken a class or be currently enrolled in a music class to join. Unfortunately, not all of the potential members have taken that credit, so they have decided to cancel the fall rush process and take those members in the spring! I'm so excited and they want me to help them with All Sing this year and participate in activities and stuff! They were asking me for ideas and I just really felt wanted and felt like I could definitely contribute to this chapter, its not huge, about 30-40 or so, but I'm glad its not SO big like a lot of the chapters at UT where its hard to get to know everyone so closely! They were like ugh we have to wait a whole semester till your a sister!!! I'm so glad I found some place that I can have that bond of sisterhood as well as do something that I really enjoy and having been doing since I was a little girl! Gamma Rho pledge class Spring 2004!!!!:D :D :D :D :D
|
YAY!!! i'm so happy for you!
|
Congratulations, Pam!!!
As for your signature, go to user cp, and under signature, you can add whatever you'd like. To get greek letters, use [ font=symbol ] GLO [ /font ] without the spaces. You'll probably want to use at least a size 3 or 4 (or larger!), too, and size is [ size=4 ] GLO [ /size ], again, without the spaces. To do it all, it would look like [ size=4 ] [ b ] [ font=symbol ] [ color=blue or whatever color ] GLO - without all the spaces. I'm so happy for you!!!! |
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
