LOVE THESE!!! Oh, those UGA girls all look so great! All the chapters pictured looked great. I love the different "looks" each house has for bid day (cocktail dresses at some houses, athletic attire at others, what appeared to trucker outfits at another, all looking great)...why couldn't we have been that creative back in the day? I also love the white dresses for the new members (though I can't imagine wearing a white dress to bid day parties back in my college years). One thing though...the irony of the young ladies wearing the cowboy boots with shorts and short skirts (obviously as part of a theme) and the earlier thread on this site about "boots with skirt" and the heated arguments that ensured from that thread. In particuarly, the girls wearing the cowboy boots with the running/training shorts  (Gamma Phi active members - and GORGEOUS girls, BTW:)) showed why that look just doesn't work in certain circumstances. In their defense, it was clear they were just doing it for effect. (Loved their T-shirts and theme, though the pic of the girl with the fake mustache caught me off-guard at first). |
The Sundress/cowboy boot thing was all the rage last fall at every football tailgate we attended. In fact it was kind of funny because we took our whole family to an Ole Miss game and my college daughter wore boots and my out of college daughter wore flip flops. So there may be an age limit on its appropriateness ;)

For those who didn't understand the "Bullet Proof" nametags, it comes from this song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUsbpmQ9-mc I'm assuming they changed the words in a skit or something to fit rush since the orginal words are about not getting hurt again in love. |
The UGA newspaper posted this 6-minute video about Bid Day:

I suppose the upside, as I see it, to the probably inevitable involvement of parents with UGA bid day will be a toning down or classing up bid day themes. The chapters who have led the informal trend are outstanding chapters absolutely. I think it's a kind of deliberately ironic thing for them to wear athletic, super dressed down bid day stuff, rather than any kind of actual bad taste on their part. But I just don't like it much. |
68 new pearls were welcomed to the Tri Delta house.

Thank you so much for the fabulous info!

I'm not a huge fan of the tanktops with short shorts and super tall athletic socks. Having lived through the seventies and eighties once, I am not super thrilled to see that regurgitated. To each her own. |
Haha, I thought my husband would never quit wearing his coaching shorts and tube socks.

Just a minor correction on someone's earlier post - there were 1180 bids given out...one of the girls on the bid list was listed twice.
Gamma Phi Beta took 70 amazing new members including 4 - yes 4!! - local girls I wrote recs AND did hometown honey powerpoint slides for. One was a Gamma Phi legacy - the chapter pledged 10 out of 17 legacies going thru - but my local Gamma Phi sister is totally over the (crescent) moon about her daughter going Gamma Phi! Three of the girls I rec'd who pledged Gamma Phi are in the Honors program and the other was close to being eligible for it. They are gorgeous amazing girls and I am so HAPPY!!!!!!:D:p:D:p:D:p And swtxbelle - there are no Katy TX girls I can find on the list so they may be listed by some other Texas city name? PM me and I can look. |
"Remember that most houses at UGA have enough legacies going through to fill their pledge class twice over. Just because your grandmother was a PQR, and your mother was a PQR, and all your cousins are PQRs... doesn't mean you will be too. My roommate in college got dropped from her legacy house after 3rd round and was a multiple legacy. By then, she'd been rude enough about her legacy status that several other chapters had released her for just that."
Unfortunately, I am not a legacy for any house. I will also be a sophomore for years recruitment. Am I sort of out of luck when it comes to recruitment due to circumstances? |
OK, you are all over these threads and asking questions when you've been told a multitude of times to READ THE THREADS. Your questions have all been answered 100 times here in one place or another. My suggestion to you is do not write another post or respond to one until you have spent, and I mean this literally, 5 hours doing nothing but reading threads. You're asking stupid questions and I don't know what else we can tell you about that.

I think there are several Transfer Recruitment Stories posted on this forum. Maybe you would feel more confident if you read through them? |
