(Disclaimer: I have no ties to Aurburn, so I apologize if anything is wrong. This is is compiled based on the link above. As mentioned in a previous post, I the CRTL + F feature to search by sorority and on Google Chrome it tells you how many instances of the words you are searching for are on the page you are looking at. Very handy!)

I am having trouble with this link. Is anyone else?

Daughter is off to the chapter room for pizza and movie night. We're headed back home. It's been a long but fun weekend. More videos posted.

Congratulations to you, your daughter and her friend! They will most definitely make positive contributions to the AU family and the university the next 4 years.

Is anyone else finding WE93 to be just absolutely delightful? Kind of overstepped himself in one sorority thread, and has just turned out to be everyone's cheerleader since.

Welcome to GC. I fear that our 93s mean very different things. :o

Did AuburnMom85 post where her daughter received a bid?

I don't think so. If I recall correctly, the last post she made was informing us that her daughter had not been released-despite "suicide bidding" the day before when she entered her rankings.

Me! I'm chuckling because from what he has posted, I believe he is my brother's age...and I just could not picture posting here like we93! Not that it's a bad thing! :)

Haha I'm not trying to be funny, just trying to show support for everyone! It's a really stressful time for all involved and imo it is a time that warrants supportive and uplifting posts (directed towards those involved in the recruitment process).

Beaumom 08-14-2011 08:21 PM

After reading his posts I thought the 93 was for birth year. I have a son the same age and he was born in 1993!

I can only imagine how exciting it was for both the guys and girls today!

My D goes to another large SEC school and we were overwhelmed by how many young fraternity men came out to meet the new sorority girls! Since we are not from the south we loved the polite manners of the young men!

What a welcome to college life! Congrats to all the new greek members!

baci 08-14-2011 08:21 PM

wareagle93 you have been a gem!

Oh, I know you're not. I was just finding humor in trying to picture my brother in your shoes.

I have very much enjoyed your posts :)

Just getting back from Auburn. Bid Day was crazy, fun and very rewarding for our family. I very proud to say that my little girl is a very happy, new member of

Alpha Chi Omega!!!

This chapter was always at the top of her list and she is thrilled!!

Her roommate is a very happy Zeta!

carnation 08-14-2011 08:31 PM

Yay for them--they'll have so much fun!:)

southern1 08-14-2011 08:32 PM

Before I realized how many frat boys were at bid day I almost went up to a couple of them and asked if they were wareagle93, haha. My bet is that significance of wareagle93's 93 is that he was born in 1993 like most of the freshmen. I really would like to meet him; he's a hoot.

What a fun day! BTW, my daughter got her first choice, Phi Mu! We were both in tears. I can't wait to hear where Auburnmom85's daughter pledged. The stress of this past week....wow.

Which was my suspicion too. My 93 is for initiation year, and I have honestly been considering changing my username for the last couple of years knowing that the birth year 93s were coming. Wish I had put more thought into the danged thing when I registered, but at the time wasn't planning to ever actually post!

Post on WE93. You bring honor to the 93 names.

Yep! I was born in 1993 and am entering my Freshman year at AU. I pledged a Fraternity over the summer. But yes, I was at bid day with two of my pledge brothers and a few other friends.

LOL. Some of those young men were being platonic and polite but I bet most of them were doing a discreet form of catcalling.

Congratulations to both you and your daughter! I've heard a lot of good things about Phi Mu, and I recognized a girl that pledged Phi Mu from CWE that I really hit it off with. I also am anxious to hear where Auburnmom85's daughter pledged.

A bouquet of fresh red carnations for her! Congrats to her and hugs to you for making it through! I remember what fun I had when my oldest collected her bid several years ago. I am sure you had a blast!!!

So happy for everyone today! We sure have a lot of different chapters represented today and each one seems to be perfect for the girls who pledged them.

Talked to my daughter a little while ago and she was thrilled with her chapter's new pledge class! She is wishing she could take another little.

WarEagle 93, you do sound like a delightful young man. My daughter is a junior, you should look her up.;)

Much appreciated!! :) I will be visiting the Greek Life office sometime this week, but a quick answer here would be nice too!

If a chapter made quota, but is below campus total, it is possible they will COB. I have no idea if that is the situation for any of the groups, because I don't know the numbers going into recruitment.

Also, if any of the groups have retention issues (pledges drop before initiation), that could also create a COB opportunity.

I know NOTHING about Auburn when I say these things, I'm just recounting possible situations on a generic campus according to NPC rules.

honeychile 08-14-2011 10:48 PM

If they took quota, but aren't up to total yet, they can do COB. If they're at or over total, they can't. It's the perk of taking quota!

AuburnMom85 08-14-2011 11:13 PM

Happy to report I'm the proud mama of a ALPHA GAMMA DELTA! Sorry for those that have been waiting on me to update my recruitment story.....but it's up now!

And congrats to AOEFORME's high school friend's sister going Gamma Phi!! :D

It is weird considering that DZ is HQed in OH. Probably just coincidence. lol. I always love seeing Ohio peeps on bid lists though.

I have a question related to the high numbers of QAs at AU (and really AU recruitment numbers in general.)

How is retention? Like, say XYZ pledges quota + like 20 QAs. Do they tend to initiate most of them?

LOL. I've been on the road all day and couldn't come back to correct my mistake. Of course when originally told, I said, "Bama, Auburn...same difference, right!?" so hard to keep up with these huge chapters.

AXOmom 08-15-2011 02:57 AM

Congratulations FuturePNMMOM (you'll have to change your user name but as you can see - AXOmom is taken :D). Like you I knew very little about greek life when my daughter decided to go through recruitment and even at a school with a much less competitive rush - it was nerve wracking, and I SO relieved when it ended. The good news is next year will be a breeze - for you. For her - not so much. :)

I read this forum A LOT (more than I post) because it's been a wonderful resource to me as I try to figure this part of her world. It helps to be able to hold a 1/2 way intelligent conversation with her about something that's become a big part of her life, so I would encourage you to stick around and read, read, read.

My daughter also loved her AXO chapter from the start. It's been a great organization for her, and she's learned a lot over the past two years. I trust the same will be true for your daughter.

This makes me SO happy! I was waiting to hear about someone's daughter/sister/friend/etc going Alpha Gam! :D
She's joining an organization with a strong sisterhood and rich history! I'd love to hear how she is enjoying her time!
Congrats again to you and your daughter! <3

Your first sentence is correct. The second one is not. Quota has nothing to do with COR/COB. It's dependent on whether or not they are at TOTAL.
So if they took quota, which they all did, but are not at total, they can COR/COB. I have no idea which groups are at total.

FSUZeta 08-15-2011 08:16 AM

wareagle, your best bet would be to check back with the auburn panhellenic office for cob opportunities and register with them for open recruitment opportunities. even if nothing materializes this semester, there may be a lot of seniors graduating in december which will allow some chapters to cob when everyone returns in the spring.

congratulations on the new alpha gam, auburnmom85!

My bad - I did mean total, and have fixed the post.

AZTheta 08-15-2011 09:45 AM

Popping in to say "war eagle" (not sure what that means but think it's like "bear down") and I'm thrilled for the New Member classes of all groups at Auburn. I wish a lifetime of membership and memories to all these young women.

I'm going absent with leave now, UofA's recruitment starts Tuesday morning and runs through Sunday (bid day). I've been at the chapter so much this past week, I think I should have a bed there.

FSUZeta 08-15-2011 10:17 AM

"bear down"? reminds me of birthing children!

:) I know! I am very excited to make that change and I have been thinking about what would be a good long term name. Obviously, I wasn't thinking long term last year. AXO will definitely be a part of that name. I am so hooked on this site that I will definitely be around for a long time.

I have tried to figure out how to change a name without making a whole new identity, but I dont' know how yet.

Beaumom 08-15-2011 11:52 AM
