I read that the Panhel requested that because the local Kappa Delta Epsilon uses KDE, or something like that.

Our house had a piano and some old KD songbooks, and "Kappa Delt" sounds like a phrase from some of the old songs we never sang.

Ah, here it is: http://thedartmouth.com/2009/05/27/news/panhell

That's a VERY nice thing for KD to do. It also shows they are in tune with how things work there (i.e. not coming in as a national and expecting locals to bend to their way because they're locals).

Hey, WCsweet, do you know results for the rest of UO? Sounds like KD had a great recruitment.

53 is another huge number which is wonderful after a decade or so of dropping numbers. When I went through recruitment, there were 12 sororities, four of which are now gone but I heard one is coming back which is also great.

GO DUCKS.

I heard that DG also got 53 and quota was around there. The numbers are fluid right now so I'm not sure exactly. 200 girls dropped out of recruitment either due to sickness (oink oink) or a lot decided to try for Tri Delta which is coming back this year.

GO DUCKS TOP OF PAC 10!

After much facebook stalking I found out that Chi O received 52 babies!

Thanks, WCsweet, for the info! Hope everyone starts feeling better soon.

Yep, we're all about giving GLOs nicknames at Dartmouth. Sigma Delta (which, point of interest, is a local that stemmed from our Sigma Kappa chapter) goes by Sigma Delt, DDD goes by Tri-Delt (as opposed to Tri-delta), (plus Phi Delt, Theta Delt, etc.) so it is kind of habit to shorten "Delta" to "Delt".

It also does alleviate some of the confusion between KD and KDE. We knew KDE had some concerns about the name similarity, and we mentioned that Kappa Delt might be a better nickname than KD and the new colony ran with it.

Nicknames are also pretty fluid. The Alpha Xi Delta chapter went by Alpha Xi until Alpha Phi came to campus, and then people started referring to them as AZD. Our local Epsilon Kappa Theta (which was originally a chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta) sometimes retains the "Theta" nickname, and sometimes goes by EKT.

I love GC because you guys assume (rightly) that Panhellenic worked their butts of to make everyone happy, instead of scapegoating us like the newspaper and the rest of the shcool!

Do you want to hear anything about informal recruitment? Kappa at UC Santa Cruz is just finishing theirs, and I think this may be the last year they have to do informal to keep up with the other NPC on campus. Craaaazy!

VT total

If I remember correctly, they raised total 10 last spring after FR, and they haven't re-evaluated yet this spring. The past two years quota has been 51, which is significantly larger than in previous years. I haven't heard any direrct talk of expansion yet, but I am only an advisor from a distance, not located on the campus (or even in the state!) to know if those conversations have begun.
