Yeah I was trying to tell you that I didn't get it without telling you that I didn't get it.

I was trying to be smooth.

Didn't work. Never does.

Yes, the mice followed him. Or the children? Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, too.

I do know that St. Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland, does that help?

I believed this on a literal level much longer than I should have. I assumed they didn't have snakes in Ireland, until one of my college friends said, "don't you think that was allegorical about driving out Paganism?" Nope, it had never crossed my mind.

Since this forum exists for us to talk and debate about stuff, I assume that people are interested in debate and might even enjoy disagreement for the sake of teasing out and strengthening their own opinions.

I don't think I've ever said anything I'd be completely ashamed of online or anything (well, if I thought long enough, I'm sure I could think of something), but sometimes I post without considering things as much as I would if I were sending out a neighborhood newsletter.

I really appreciate your explanation and I thank you for it. I do agree that when we are with friends, we are careful not to overtly express our disagreements with their opinions. But what about the opposite, when a "friend" happens to be the ONLY representation of {insert your ethnic group here}... What about someone who is biracial or multiracial? And someone says something ignorant about XYZ person? When do I take this as "real"? Just asking?

And while people strengthen their own personal opinions, some people gain great insights and CHANGE their opinions!!! How can THAT happen on a message board? WOW!!! Moreover, this might be the ONLY place that some of people interact with someone of another ethnic group... Shocking, but true. So rather than us blasting each other, how do you think we can approach a more "shared" experience?

Sorry, for the length, starting watching "Freedom Writers"...

Don't ever bring me into one of your irrational adventures, friend - I'm not a point of comparison, and you've shown yourself to be less than able in this thread anyway.

So far, you've insulted a woman for simply being a woman and race-baited continuously, while denigrating others for their innate characteristics - that is fucked up, and not the mark of a man. Knock that off - it's actively bad for conversation, and you know better.

You are much more of....what exactly?

And you plan on proving that ...how?

You are there and I am here...what kind of contest you wanna have?

Still, it's pretty messed up to throw out what you did in this thread. I hope you see that. There's a better way.

I'll think on it, thanks. Now you think about your misogyny, your logical fallacies (HINT: every one of your posts is an appeal to authority), and the fact that you raised an "Uncle Tom" objection in this thread. Seriously. In 2009, you ran Uncle Tom on someone. On a message board.

I get that you were born in a different era than most here, but adapt.

I think we do change our opinions, even if we don't post accordingly. Perhaps we should bump threads and note when we have completely come around.

Uncle Tom...yeah...picture that....amazing huh?

If by 'adapting' you mean turn a blind eye...the answer is......nah.
The
problem with CHANGE in what you are requesting usually requires cowing of a sort..that's not my bag.

So no...I stand by my opinion whether you agree or not.

I can't read all ten pages cuz I'm just too tired. I did manage to outrage my daughter tonight because we were talking about the Constitution and I mentioned that the Equal Rights Amendment (for women) never passed. She happens to be doing a paper about Alice Paul right now so her awareness of women's rights (or lack thereof over history) is high right now. She couldn't believe the ERA just failed in the '70s. In her head, it was much longer ago than that.

As far as YOU telling someone they have shown themselves as less than able...I'm curious as to why you always feel you are in a position to make such judgment calls. Who are you exactly?

Discrimination against blacks linked to dehumanization, study finds

Crude historical depictions of African Americans as ape-like may have disappeared from mainstream U.S. culture, but research presented in a new paper by psychologists at Stanford, Pennsylvania State University and the University of California-Berkeley reveals that many Americans subconsciously associate blacks with apes.

I know you were the smartest kid in your 5th grade class, and Mom always told you to be yourself, but that stopped . . . in 5th grade. You seem to have some difficulty adapting to a world in which other people are more intelligent and cogent than you are. Work on that.

Or, alternately, Occam's Razor could be wrong, and you could be right and EVERYONE else is stupid!

I sincerely hope you're kidding, since you've proven to be one of the most judgmental individuals in this board's history (IRONY!), and you're the highest-ranking corporal in the IT'S MY OPINION Army.

Sadly, you're not.

Wooooooooooooooow...that was indeed lame...LOL

Damn...that made me laugh so hard, seriously man...not all kettles are black...but it says something about your mindset that THE FIRST thing that popped in your mind was a BLACK kettle.

Oh....

Wait...

That was YOUR POV.

Your kneejerk reaction to what was said.

Damn..I don't have an Infinite Internet Theory Hypothesis Proposal to cover that.

Hmmm...It's racist. :)

Erm, the maxim is "that's like the pot calling the kettle black." That's the reference, always and forever.

So . . . yeah. Maybe you should sit a few plays out?
