I used to live in Abel 13, aka 'The Zoo'. |
Just curious- from the dates, has ADPi been on campus without a house since 1963? That is amazing!!!

ADPi lived in a university owned sorority house behind the dorm complex in the 1980's when I was in college. They were 4 identical block style brick buildings, circa 1970's.

Nebraska Chapter Houses
Here are a couple of links where you can see the houses and then link to the chapter websites.

NUBlue&Blue, THANK you for posting those pictures! What beautiful old chapter houses.
Ever since my Okla St. days, I have always believed that a "real" university should have (in addition to all of the latest scientific and liberal arts amenities) 1) an AGR chapter 2) a Farmhouse chapter and 3) a Dairy Science building with the little student store selling ice cream from the model farm dairy science cows... |

Thanks, I had never seen our chapter's website. Am I a dork to think their "Slice of Pi" newsletter is a cute name? Their 3.5 GPA requirement for recruitment still floors me...... |
My chapter's Out-of-house newsletter was called "A Slice of Pi" too!

Yep, you are triggering that SAM - I wondered why I remembered them - it was because you drove right by them when you went through campus. You have got a great memory! But I wonder who was in the PhiMu/BetaSig house before them? I was at state bball in 1979 and we stayed on the floor at the Beta Sig house in someones friend of a friend's room - I think ;) (the age in NE then WAS 19, after all!) and it was on Vine street past what is now Beedle Hall.
I don't remember ZTA being there, though! Back to ALMOST Big 12 - at UNO, a friend of mine's dd pledged Chi O. (There are no houses at UNO - heck, they just got DORMS not too long ago! It is historically a commuter campus but has become quite popular with the dorms now that they have them) |

My brother sends us a big gift box from the Dairy Store on East Campus every year for Christmas....we can't wait until it comes. I'll have to see if I can find a link! |

I like how every house looks really different. One of my favorites is Alpha Xi Delta--it is stunning, the ceiling in the foyer was painted by the same person who painted the mural in the rotunda of the state capitol building. They just redecorated in the past couple of years and it looks gorgeous. I'm also fond of AOPi and Theta because I love the Dutch Colonial style. Kappa and Alpha Phi are painted brick. There are a few 1960's block houses as well, just to break up the monotony! And I think ChiO's French chateau is adorable (the trees are kind of big in the picture so you can't see the house very well). And I'm sure I was at State BBall in 1979, too! I always stayed with my friend who was 2 years older and she lived in Sandoz! |
I was there with some friends from KSC - they were there to watch Axtell. And that's all I know....:D
And back in that day, you ordered Fraternity Sportswear about once a year. Some guy came around and took orders. I was quite the fashion AOII because I got a light blue hoodie with two tone greek letters! That was a first in about 1980. Previous to that, your choices were gold on blue, blue on white, that kind of thing. I did like my AOII sweats! I will let you'll know when the newspaper posts the results from NE. |
In case you want to get a jump on your Christmas shopping, here's a link to the Dairy Store. :D
