The thing is-- we NEVER asked to have this conversation. People were attacking us before we got here. Before we knew ANY of you even existed. So why are we the bad guys? |
No one was "attacking" you. Certain aspects of your org were discussed - mostly in an amused way.Certainly, the misuse of the Greek letters was a topic of discussion. But an attack? No.
If you look around Greekchat, you'll see that we discuss just about anything you can name about Greek life - often with a sense of humor. You chose to come here and elevate the conflict. You keep digging your hole deeper and deeper. I would suggest that if, as you state, you didn't know about "us" (does that mean NPC/NPHC/other established orgs, or GreekChat?) that you don't worry about "us". MysticCat, you are my new hero. |

Listen. Going to a party is not the problem. It is when people are irresponsible that is. The drunkeness and grinding is something that irresponsible people do, but these are college students. They are young and exploring the world for the first time, learning their limits through new experiences. The campus sets the climate, not the greek life. Also, I cannot tell you how many foul individuals there are that can quote the bible line for line without knowing what it really means. Do you honestly think that you are closer to God than anyone else? Does it not say in the Bible that "Anyone may come to me" and "all are the same in the eyes of God"? Now, I admit to not making it to church more than half the time on sundays because things come up and it's really early. Then again, I don't have to go to church every single sunday to be true to my religion. I don't think that everyone else has to be of my same religion either. If you are a good person who does good things or has a good heart, you are exactly what you need to be. Holy isn't about rejecting someone or looking down on them for not being as devout. Accept and Understand, then Live! BTW: You are wondering why people are getting riled up. Your ignorance of these things is the reason. How can anyone accept you if you do not return the favor. |

Kelouis75: I'm sorry you feel that way especially since you call yourself a sister in Christ. And not all churches have women's ministries... Mine for example.
Then why didn't you start a women's ministry at your church? You would probably reach a lot more people. The ladies of Iota Theta Eta didn't start this silly conversation. And I think people let it rip because they did not know it would get back to us... That seems like gossip to me... We don't care. Some people think partying throughout the week then dragging yourself into church on Sunday is living the Christian life. However, they are truly uneducated. Many times throughout the Bible it talks against drunkeness, fornication-- both things greek life is known for. We're providing an alternative. See, what really gets me about you guys is that you totally buy into all the Greek stereotypes. If you had joined an NPC or NPHC sorority, I'm confident that you would reevaluate your stance...and I think it's a bit disrespectful to say such things about your mother and aunt's sorority. FYI, I've had many ops to join a D9 (NPHC) sorority.. being that both my mom and my aunt are in the greek system. I choose not to for the above reasons. If there is ONE thing I've learned about recruitment in ANY GLO here, D9 or not, it's that your 'ops' to join a sorority doesn't mean anything. No NPHC group would go chasing after someone, and alum doesn't necessarily mean that you're in. So don't act like you chose to go IQH when everyone else wanted you. As for the Omicron-- yes, it looks exactly like an "o". The line inside of the theta makes it "different". And gets people asking... Again, I need not waste anymore time on this matter. There are more important things to do. But people who want to contribute to our mission and purpose will join and see the truth. We are humble women, who love the Lord, AND who are providing a real alternative to "traditional" greek life. For God's grace we are growing each season. :) Our lines are getting longer. Praise Him! Did you know that Theta not only makes a Th sound, but it is usually denoted by an English Q for clarification? Cool, huh? Why so much talk about such a small org anyway if the people who are getting riled up did not feel threatened? :) Because it's a little amusing. You seem to have this GLO that doesn't really have the spirit of other GLOs that I've interacted with [and that would be quite a few, thank you]. While all GLOs are exclusive by nature, few look down on those who choose not to join. Perhaps a little humility is in order. |
When have I insulted anyone?

Every time you post you manage to be insulting in your attitude and tone, but I will give you this - it is consistent with the website, and thus I assume with your org.
|
Is it insulting, or just irritation you are picking up on. No one is attacking or trying to insult or "put anyone down", yet for some reason "assume" that everything said is some type of attack. Most of that quote was in response to someone elses words. Trying to explain to those that have made up their minds about someone or an entire body of people, is like beating a dead drum. Like I said before, I am merely offering the opportunity to get to know us, instead of judging so harshley something that is not fully understood.

Just wondering, because I feel like you are. It's not an attack, I just want to know. |
Anyone think the woman on the bottom left looks pretty angry about being an honorary diva?
|
If it makes you feel any better, I really had no feeling about your org. other than being somewhat bewildered by the confusion with Greek letters and somewhat bemused by the idea of a group founded by divine intervention, until you started posting here.
Now I must admit my opinion is largely formed by the way you have presented your group. Since you have presented yourself as a representative of the group, I assume that was your intention. As we always say to our members , you may be the only member of your GLO that someone knows, so be sure to represent your sisters well. |
This is just a H.A.M.

A christian organization doesn't have to go out and clump together and make its own sorority. If that's what you do, then *finger snaps* to you. My christian organization is the church I attend.
