What can I say? I'm in a corny mood today....:p |
just wanted to say i really loved your story. it really stands out from the typical retro recruitment stories.
one of the most interesting greeks i met on my campus is a sigma gamma rho. |
Even with a huge amount of work piling up on my desk....
I HAD to stop and read your story. This has truly been one of, it not THE most entertaining recruitment story that I have read in a long time. :D |
I just want to say that I was just browsing recruitment stories until the Sandman made his way over to my room. Yours was (is) going to be the last one because my eyes were half closed when I got to it. Now, I'm wide awake and cheering! That was awesome and you are a FABULOUS writer! Good job, girl! I love the NPHC stories:p.

Crazy!
Hey there!
I've been up all night writing papers for school and since I have class in a few hours, there's really no point in sleeping. So I decided to update my sorority's website, and try to make it show up in searches in google. I type in "TPhiB" as a test, and low and behold, I find your thread! It was totally crazy reading your account of rushing my sorority. I pledged in fall '06, and I too had quite a bit of trouble finding my Creek niche (having not received bids from both Zeta Sigma Phi - who as a side note were booted off campus last year - and Alpha Sigma Tau) so my story was similar to yours, except that when I rushed Greek housing had moved to Lafayette, and the sorority was much smaller (we fell from about 11 when I rushed, to 4 when I joined, to the 8 + 5 pledges we're at now.) What was REALLY cool about your post was hearing your perspective on the different sororities and how much they've changed (and not) since then. The girls in Alpha Sigma Tau said very very similar things to me during rush about "ohh I really hope you join us". It was a little off setting for a sorority hopeful. It's also hilarious that we played Tabboo with you since we used it as an event this semester. I'm really curious to see who "Mona" was though... since one of our founding sisters is actually named Mona! lol I'm pretty sure the pres at the time was Jec or Maria... AHH! Craziness. Anyway, I'm sorry you didn't receive a bid from my organization, but it looks like you found where you really belong and love it, which is great! Greek life has a way of working itself out for those who really want to be a part of it. Cheers! Jen Recruitment Chair, Webmaster Theta Phi Beta Sorority |
Bumping the awesomeness of this thread.
|
I don't read retro threads but I was quite humored by the randomness of key*key(wtf???)
|
So who were the other sororities. I was trying to read between the lines but you covered well for the most part. Maybe I need to read again.
|
This was a good one!

Thank you for posting this. It makes me feel better about the circuitous route that I am taking to becoming greek. Now I just cross my fingers and hope that they like me as much as I like them.

Gratuitous bump for the newbies, lurkers and new generation of greek hopefuls!
And for yall oldtimers who just want an oldie but goodie. |
