I went to a show last week where there were HIGH SCHOOL students on stage gyrating to J.Holiday's "Bed." The crowd was yelling but my Sorors and I sat there like ":rolleyes:." I even BOOO'd as they left the stage. Their mentors need to be flogged. The mc of the show said "yeah...I heard you all screaming...you forgot these are children...."

I agree! I went to a show at my alma mater and the frats were all grinding and mess and I swear I felt like I was watching kiddie porn...they were all children to me and it was NOT cute....the shows were damn near explicit...yuck!!!:o

One of my biggest pet peeves has to be when a step show has a majority of participants from the same fraternity or sorority. I love the bruh but after 2 teams I can predict whats going to happen. Variety is a good thing.

You were there too???? This is a darn shame if we were all there and didn't meet:mad::mad::p;):D.

YES!!!! That is so annoying!! Especially when the majority of the audience are members or connected to the organization. I went to a stroll comp this past spring, and there were 2 teams of 2 different orgs competing...two from the same org made it to the finals and the winners were one of the teams from the other org who made up most of the audience, their sisters were also in attendance; I really like variety in shows i wouldn't have minded having another fraternity/sorority on stage.

Another thing I must add which pertains mainly to fraternities...the 'thug' look isn't appealing especially if you're supposed to be a college educated EXAMPLE for younger men of color, I want my folks to be proud that I joined a brotherhood that helps folks like me out, not for em to scold me cause they may think it's a gang, LOL. I also don't care for many chants, ESPECIALLY those that involve various profanities or some that are pretty much just folks hollering nonsense! We're much more grown than this, let's act like we are!

I concur the grinding in all of the steps shows really can go... points should really be deducted for overtly explicit movements!

^^^ Basically. If you can't do a real show without making it resemble a BET video, you shouldn't be stepping. That includes whipped cream and that dang pyramid of men. That pyramid is so

tld221 11-14-2007 08:51 PM

good lord. not the whipped cream. you'd be surprised at how many people are NOT impressed by that whole thing.

You could have fooled me. Every show I go to and they have men grinding all over the floor it seems to get a favorable response from the audience. And I hate it!

Don't forget that the audience is full of young non-Greeks that will give a hellafied response because they don't know how unsavory the act really is. This adds to the audience response score if that's in the criteria.

The Greeks that recognize the poor taste can sometimes be in the minority.

TIMEOUT.... Do you mean they did the pyramid of women? That isn't as impressive anymore because it's overdone, and it's not stepping, but it's better than seeing dudes in a pile moving in rhythm to a baby-making song. I'm crossing my fingers and believing that you did not see sorority women with whipped cream.

Yes, a pyramid of women. After receiving an invitation, a friend and I saw this at another campus. While the some of the woman did the pyramid, some of the others put the whipped cream in their mouths and then spit it out.:rolleyes:
