My high school got a step team a few years ago (right after I graduated in 96). My dad is a teacher there and he complains about them all the time because a)they are horriable and 2) they try to act ghetto. I have tried to explain to him that stepping is really neat to watch if the team is good. He has never believed me, but last monday he called me to say he saw this show on TV. He said he was impressed because a)the teams were all MUCH better then what he sees at school and b)the steppers carry themselves with class, yet again something he does not see. It's suprising that something like a TV show can change someone's opinion so much. Keep in mind my dad is a 62 year old white guy who grew up in small town Indiana :)

You are so lame for that. You used one of your five posts to diss another org? Go do some service.

BTW, you should tell the Philly Felines that I loved their machete step. Who does that again?

The Alphas:
+ They showed up
- I have never seen a team all wear different outfits and I now know why--it doesn't look good on stage

The AKAs:
+ I think they stepped their azzes off
- Like other step shows, I presume the judges were Greek. If so, you'll never win when you diss other orgs

The Kappas:
+ Cleanest Kappa show I think I've EVER seen! I thought they did a great job. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think I saw a single cane drop! They also had a very good attitude about not winning.
- Can't think of anything

The Omegas:
+ Good job--not great, but good. Their style is so different from every other org. that a lot of people don't know how to take it. I personally love the way they hop/march--it's so manly and sexy to me.
- Their attitude about now winning.

The SORORS:
+ Good--not great.
- I was concerned about the shoes they were wearing--they don't look like they offer much support

The Sigmas:
+ It was good but honestly, it was like every other Sigma show I see. I'm not trying to be mean but every show I see looks like they use the same steps. But, I see Sigmas win a lot so they must be doing something right.
- That dude, Ike. I was tired of hearing him

The Zetas:
+ The intro was very good! Very energetic
- The actual stepping wasn't all that great, to me. And I was  about the tribute to the Ques

The SGRhos:
+ Good--not great--stepping
- The Star Trek Super Hero outfits with pull-on knee boots doesn't translate well as step show outfits

In my honest opinion, the Kappas and AKAs should've won. But I was very glad to see actual stepping. Lots of shows I go to offer little more than smoke & mirrors--lots of dancing, skits and other nonrelevant isht.

I like your critique. Now I am really interested in seeing it; I have a friend who taped it and now I wanna see it. I stopped watching/attending step shows because as you said, there has been way too much "smoke and mirrors" extra nonsense and not enough basic hardcore steppin'.

Thanx for the post.

Soror, you made me laugh so hard! It's been a minute since I've been to a step show (more like 13 years) and it's hilarious that no matter how pretty, sexy or slick the Nupes are, we still judge them by their "canedropability"!

THe show was interesting to say the least...
