The advisor of Theta Iota Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha has reported via our regional email list that all the Alphas are safe.

Nothing, yet, on their National web site: http://www.deltazeta.org/pages/content/index.html

VT is in my Prayers...

This is so upsetting. My HS sent a large number of people to VT with it's 2006 class. So far two of them have reported via facebook and said they're shocked but ok.

It seems they don't know much outside of rumors either.

Maybe checking your Facebooks, Myspaces, etc. would provide more information since the cell towers are jammed?

Has anyone heard a definite or consistent number of the wounded? I can't seem to find a stable number?

Oh my God. I can't believe so many people are dead... and I hope with all my heart that my sisters are okay... I didn't start crying until I read that some ADPis may have been involved.

There was a shooting at my high school when I was a freshman and it was the scariest day of my life. I can only imagine how much worse this was.

My prayers and thoughts go out to all the families and friends of the victims of this horrible tragedy!! I still can't believe what happend...it's just insane!!

I also hope all GLOs brothers and sisters are okay!! Let's hope we keep hearing good news during this horrible event.

I can't believe this is happening.

I feel awful. Not only because of what is going on but because I have sisters who are unaccounted for. I feel awful that that is what got me crying, when the whole thing sucks in the first place. I feel guilty for being more worried about my own sisters than everyone else who is unaccounted for. :(

The members of Nu Prime chapter (Virginia Tech) of Kappa Sigma are all accounted for and safe.

MSKKG 04-16-2007 07:44 PM

I wasn't around a TV or radio much today. The 1st I heard was the 1 person was dead and a bunch injured. The next report I heard was that 31 plus the murderer were dead. I couldn't believe it!

I don't want to hear about his tortured childhood or anything else that puts any blame on anyone other than him. No one has a perfect life or childhood/adult experiences. For crying out loud, people, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS!!! If what another poster said was correct, he did this because his grades suffered after his girlfriend broke up with him?!? There are just no words for my outrage!

I feel the same way.. I didn't cry about it until I heard about our sisters. I don't think we should feel guilty, though... it just made the incident hit closer to home.

I feel so bad for the chief of police or whatever his title is... he's getting so beat up in this press conference. Yeah, I think someone- police, university or both- dropped the ball, but I feel for this guy.

No word on KD's... our website doesn't have an update and I haven't heard from anyone on our listserve.

Same here. I checked CNN before lunch and it said 1 person dead. I checked the news again before I left work and it said over 30 dead. I can't believe it! How horrible. Why kill a bunch of innocent people? It makes absolutely no sense.

AGDZO Susan 04-16-2007 08:16 PM

All Alpha Gamma Delta members are now accounted for. My thoughts and prayers are with the Virginia Tech community and all families impacted by this tragedy.

texas*princess 04-16-2007 08:22 PM

i heard about this earlier today... i'm still in a state of shock. i can't even begin to imagine what everyone must be going through over there.

i can't believe so many people were victimized by this person. i haven't heard anything more about who the gunman was or any motives. it's just so heartwrenching.

does anyone else had any updates on the status of our sisters there?

BellaBerlee 04-16-2007 08:26 PM

It is such a tragedy what has happened :( So many unanswered questions too.. I have 2 friends that go there; and both are safe! Today was one of their birthdays too (what a day to remember huh)

Any word on Chi O's being accounted?

Prayers go out to the students and families!!

This sounds harsh, but it's true. It's like people taking up for the Columbine killers because they were bullied. I'm sorry, but if everyone who was EVER picked on by anyone went on a shooting spree, there'd be a school shooting every single day.

Same thing with this incident. If everyone who had ever been dumped went on a killing spree, there'd be one every day.

If you've been dumped and can't handle it, talk to someone. Have yourself committed. Do something. But there is no excuse for murdering innocent people.

I just can't believe this. These people were INNOCENT. They had no idea. They were just going to class like normal college students. Some of them were probably going to go have lunch with friends later or thinking of what they were going to do tonight. It's just so sad.
