Please do. It's a way for the groups to get a better look at you, in a less competitive enviroment.:) |
Sweetie -
I'm really sorry and can imagine your disappointment. Hold your head high. With COR, COB, or Snap Bidding, you never know what might happen. |
CW-- I'm sorry it didn't work out. It's totally ok to be bummed and we're sending hugs your way. This also calls for a chocolate sundae and some retail therapy!!!!
Don't be a stranger, friend. Please keep us posted on your college news/sorority persuits if you go to post-recruitment events. We're all rooting for your happiness!!! |
I'm really sorry. Sometimes it happens, but that doesn't make it suck any less. You went in with a good attitude, though, and I'm glad you're still considering COR...there are usually several chapters participating in COR every year, so don't give up. You might also be eligible for a snap bid...someone correct me if I'm wrong?
|
Definitely keep your options open & consider COR after formal recruitment is over! You'll definitely find chapters participating & you'll probably like the atmosphere a lot better too.
|
Do COB. :) That is where we got some of our best girls. Also many may suicide  after prefs and leave a lot of open spots. Good luck & keep us posted.
|
So Im kinda confused on COR, is it that you participate with all of the chapters that are eligable or is it focused on one house for each girl?
|
COB/CR/COR/Informal recruitment events are held as events individual to each sorority. To solicit your interest, contact the office of Greek Life (or if you have friends in the chapters, let your friends know of your interest). Sometimes some chapters hold open house events for anyone to come to COR. Likely each sorority holding these events will have your name on a list of unmatched women from formal recruitment. It is up to them if they will invite you to an event. You can go to events for as many sororities as are invited to, or decline invitations that you are not interested in.

You only go to the COR events for the chapters that YOU want to. If you want to go to Beta Kappa Upsilon and Sigma Rho Alpha, those are the events you watch for. Usually sororities advertise via fliers, school newspaper ads, chalk on the sidewalk...etc... |

From the University of Kentucky Panhellenic Association
Continuous Open Recruitment (COR) - (Formally called COB)
"Open Recruitment begins after the conclusion of Sorority Membership Recruitment Week and continues throughout the academic year. Open Recruitment is recommended for anyone who chooses not to participate in Membership Recruitment Week or did not receive a bid during the week. It offers women the opportunity to participate in sorority life and join a sorority through an informal process. Membership recruitment activities might include pizza parties, bowling outings and TV nights. Participating sororities will contact you by phone, letter, or personal visit to invite you to attend their membership activities. You can register for COR in 575 Patterson Office Tower or by clicking here." For more information: 859.257.3151 And for what it is worth, if you do consider COR, in my humble and completely unbiased opinion, all chapters at UK are great. Best of luck with whatever you decide. |
Thank you all, I just registered for COR, I will be sure to keep you all updated!
|
Yay! Good luck :)
