OMG!! I just watched this show for the very first time. I see what my friends are talking about. The acting is horrible. Tyler should stick to what he knows best, Madea plays.

Maybe they should bring in Debbie Allen. She's a competent director and has a track record for saving a sinking sitcom ship (e.g. A Diff'rent World).

I agree but Debbie Allen also wrote "In the House" and we all know how 'succesful' that was.:)

It was so "successful" that I don't even remember it. Had to google it. LOL
Definitely she should be restricted to directing, not writing. :D

I don't know if Debbie wrote those episodes. She's more of a director/producer than writer. The show was pretty good, until she left to work with Steven Spielberg to do the film Amistad. That's when the show "jumped".

ETA: The show is in syndication. I believe TVOne has it on.

I liked In The House. :(

last night's 2nd episode was better. I chuckled once.

Yea i've been recording them and i just caught up. Im highly disappomnited in the writinig. I love tyler but this need some serious work. I'm really hoping that the story is going somewhere and the jokes get better b/c i've picked up on a few jokes from the plays:(

This has to get better, because the mess is really, really....did I say really bad.

DSTKellie 06-23-2007 02:56 AM

Is it me or do they make a lot of line mistakes on the show? It seems like the show is being recorded live with out any takes.

I liked the 2nd episode, but I missed the first while we were cleaning the kitchen. I was surprised to see that Janine was Trina in "Why Did I Get Married?" I hadn't seen that play till this weekend. The show's cast seems to all be playing the same personalities that they did in the plays, but Janine and Trina are totally different. It's refreshing.

I actually like that it was crack that was Janine's problem as opposed to something else. Okay, I don't like it, but I don't mind it. Usually, people addicted to crack are a certain type of person. But by making it a beautiful, intelligent housewife and mother of two, Tyler made the point that it can happen to anybody. IMO, that was a good direction...now if we could only get that to spread to the rest of the show.:o

Ok, even though I watched it last week when it came on I really didn't pay attention to it, so I watched the ep over on On Demand from last week, the one where CJ, Calvin and Curtis and the Ronald McDonald clown looking guy go looking for Janine, and that was a pretty good ep. This was actually the best ep so far for me.

CrimsonTide4 06-28-2007 08:49 AM

I only watched the first ep last night and that was a mess. Seriously, no rehab refunds even after a person has only been there for less than 24 hours?

Last week's episodes were better.

DSTKellie 06-28-2007 09:14 AM

There seemed to be a lot of sexual innuendos in the two episodes. Overall, I am still not impressed. But I keep somehow watching it.

Yeah, there was a lot of that in the one episode I watched yesterday.

I don't much know how much longer I'm going to be able to hold on.

I agree that the acting is kinda rough. But the overall writing is not too bad.

A copy of the entire first season slipped into my DVD player. Hubby and I watched it and it held my attention. The plots get better as the season goes on. I wouldn't rush home to watch it, but I would definitely keep watching it if it was on the tv when I came home. Hubby, on the other hand, thinks it's pretty funny.
