That is intersting to say the least. Maybe He is smarter than some on Site and not as Rad! He has been there done it and is still doing It for His Fraternity! So, you want to belittle Him?:( That is so sad and shows a lot! |

1) a lot of this comes from older members and/or 2) older members are conveniently unavailable to teach but available to chastise or 3) older members turn a blind eye when certain behaviors need to be corrected before they become ingrained in the culture and passed down further I have seen members who have been in 20 to 40+ years who have encouraged and passed down some negative aspects of particular organizations or are condoning when younger members display them. These same people would appear to be respectable as they sit in alumnae and grad chapter meetings--they even pretend to have strong opinions against certain things that they condone behind closed doors. People know what they do but excuse it by saying "so and so is old school and that's how he/she got down back in the day." It's okay for these people to be this way but younger members catch the heat for (generally) doing what they were taught to do or following the culture that they observed as aspirants. :) |

Maybe he's smarter and maybe he isn't. A lot of us have been there and done that and are still doing it--that's what we're supposed to be doing so no kudos there. I'm still wondering why you think we should care. It's not about belittling him but belittling you for thinking he's important to mention to us. |
Can anyone translate the Earp speak here? What I am reading is that the NPHC folk are saying that they do not give out information on their dues and fees to the general public but do make that information available to potential members before they commit. And Earp is saying that makes them all crazy and their chapters can't function because they are not as rad as his friend?

There have been numerous other discussions on GC regarding NPHC chapter size. Some factors for collegiate chapters include campus type (HBCU vs PWI), georaphical region, chapter type (city-wide vs campus based) and chapter status (recently reactivated or not) and intake frequency/line caps. For alumnae chapters, factors include number of alumnae chapters in a geographic area, community type (military, established, new suburb), geographic region, population demographic and socioeconomic levels. Of course, there are org specifics as well. ;) |
OK, I'm relatively new in GC and ignorant of acronyms...
HBCU? PWI? D9s? I thought I had it bad when my son started emailing with ROTFLMAO and all that, but I see a lot here. Maybe we need an acronym sticky? =) |
