I'm a dues paying member who was very active in my grad chapter until August. Since August, I have cut back on my activities until I finish my first year of law school (I want to make sure I make it to my 2L year. This school is no joke.)

I just got my dues in on Monday at a Collegiate/Alumnae mixer and am so excited to be a part of the alumnae chapter! However, I think I'll have to put off trying for an office or being on any comittees due to my other responsibilities. However, if anyone needs help setting/cleaning up or bringing refreshments I'll be all over it :).

What do you do, specifically?
I am the Vice President of Membership for my collegiate chapter's CHapter Association, an Advisor for a Colony, and a memeber of the local Alumnae Group.

Why did you choose this area of involvement?
The Chapter Association is really important because we give back to our collegiate chapter. We raise money to help the collegiates with Recruitment and other needs they may have.

Advising the Colony really spoke to me because it is a unique experience to help a group of women form my sorority on their campus. It has already been very rewarding!

Being a member of my local Alumnae Group has been amazing! I recently moved to a new city and instantly made new friends and connections through the group. It's also very important to me to pay my dues as an alum to support our National Organization.

Are you also a dues paying alumni member of your GLO? If so, does that mean you pay dues only to your local alumni chapter or you pay separate local and international alumni dues to be considered an active alumna? If you are not a dues paying alumni member, why not?

Yes, our dues are paid to our local and then a portion of that is sent to National Headquarters.

And I am slightly more involved now. ;) As of last weekend I am now the President of the Chicagoland Area APO Alumni Association. :D

I am our rep to the local APH and I help advise one of our area collegiate chapters.

Why did you choose this area of involvement?

I love working with the collegians! Also I hope by working with collegians it will get them to stay active once they become alumnae.

We pay one flat rate to our AA that covers both local and national dues.

I know that AOP, DDD, DC and SC have Life Loyal programs and I'm sure there are more. If your GLO has a "Life Loyal" type program, are you a member? If not, why not?

We do have a Life Loyal program i just haven't had the money for it yet. But I fully intend to join when I can afford it.

I eat, breathe, sleep, Gamma Phi Beta! (I wouldn't have it any other way thought :D). Since being an Alumnae, I have started an Alumnae Chapter in my home town and served as the President for two years, served as a SRC-Special Recruitment Consultant, and was recently swayed to be the Recruitment Advisor for my chapter. I pay my dues, Alumnae Chapter dues and International dues. I found my niche with recruitment, I feel like it is one of the most important alumnae positions and most overlooked because it requires so much time. I have little time to spare,(i don't know how I get it done) but know how hard it is on the chapter without a proper advisor.

I am currently the Chapter Advisor for my collegiate chapter. I also became frustrated with the lack of alumnae support in the area, so I started an alumnae chapter and we just celebrated our full first year as an alumnae chapter! I really wish I could learn new ways to get more alumnae involved because it really is so much fun.

I'm with KSigKid. I graduated two years ago & have been serving as a AAA for my chapter. I attend the majority of the chapter meetings I can, and help out when/where I can, including making donations to the chapter (first alumni doner since our rechaptering). As soon as I get the form sent in, I'll also start donating to our endowment fund.

I'm graduating this year (pending thesis completion), and potentially moving out of the area, so I might have to drop the AAA role, but I'd still like to remain active with the Fraternity in someway.

No as my chapter is closed. I do send money to the national. I do beleive and would like them to come back.

This past weekend I volunteered for a philanthropy event with my alumnae chapter and I'm looking forward to getting more involved as time goes on :)

I am active. I am the AA for the closest chapter to my house (not exactly close, but the closest chapter to me). I pay dues to the "local" (Columbus is my local, but it is too far away I think to be really local), and I am a Life Loyal. I really want to start an alum association for Tri Deltas in the SE Ohio area as events in Columbus are so far away and I cannot do them if they are on weeknights (get togethers, meetings. etc.).

Alumnae Dues
 

I am an alumni of a small local sorority. Currently, we don't have any formal alumnae chapter set up but I am considering starting one. What are the typical dues for alumnae chapters?

There is no "typical" amount. Choose an amount that works for your members.

I have been actively involved, off and on with alumnae chapters in 3 cities over the last 20 years. I started an alumnae group a year and a half ago and then moved out of the country so I had to leave it in other very capable hands.

I am constantly amazed how we make a decision at 18 based on a whole bunch of superficial crap that works out to be a lifetime of friendship, fun, philanthropy, etc. It's too bad selling my sorority as such a great group as an alum would fall on utterly deaf ears to this year's group of PNM's. I'm laughing here thinking of how recruitment would be different if all done by 20 year alums.
