OMG! A Florida Phi! It's sooo much fun, you're going to love it! Are you coming to State Day? It's gonna be down here in S. Fla. I'm so excited this probably doesn't even make sense! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have a clue! Where in S Fla & when? My parents live in Miami.

Ok, does anyone else feel like this was a book and somebody ripped out a few chapters in the middle? I was in the dark that she was a legacy and I don't see the part about how her bid was offered with all the drama and deleted posts etc.
Glad she found a wonderful home at UF! Denise |
Some people knew I was a legacy when I began talking about my recruitment. Someone told me I was giving out too much information, so I edited my posts so much less information was given out.
My older sister was a Phi Mu at FSU, pledge class 1991. The drama was deleted basically because it was uncalled for. A few people think I'm either lying about how my bid was given to me, or that my chapter bent some rules in giving it to me the way they did. I see no reason to lie, so I couldn't really care less. Thank you :) |
Congratulations! Now, isn't it time for you to get on over to the Phi Mu forum and connect with some of your new sorority sisters? :)

christi, I missed all the drama, but I see nothing wrong with how you got your bid. It's not unusual for spring bidding to be a more spread out than usual and I thought the whole process seemed just fine.
Many Many Congratulations! :) |
Congrats, and welcome to the bond!
That said, I feel a need to respond to some of the other things posted here as a member of Phi Mu who knows membership selection inside and out. During informal recruitment, the RC can say whatever she wants to a PNM. If she said something like "It's your choice, not ours" to Christi, that merely means that they really like her and are prepared to give her a bid. It does NOT mean they are prepared to give anyone a bid. It can be tough to gauge a PNM's interest, and it can be hard to time a bid. You don't want to wait too long and have her look elsewhere, but you don't want to offer it too early and appear desperate for members. Therefore, it is very possible that the RC liked her a lot and was trying to feel out the timing of the bid. Also, I won't talk too much about membership selection, but it is presumptious of others on this thread to do so. You have no idea who votes on a girl or who authorizes COB's. Don't pretend you do when giving advice to PNM's. Thanks. |
I just wanted to say congratulations! Sounds like you found a great place!

How's it going so far, Christi? Keep us posted.
